i think the question here is, why would ashley johnson do this.
edit: i guess she was excited to have the mocap actress from HL2 on board with LoU, advertised it as an inside scoop, and made a mistake or thought she would be funny by putting HL3 instead of HL2.

I think it comes from his e-mail address.
I thought the same thing initially, but in fact the name dates back to when it was discovered that his HL2 Fallout account password was gaben. His Valve e-mail address certainly popularised it, however.
