Halo |OT9| One Final Effort Is All That Remains

Not really. All the spoilers I've posted thus far have come from official sources - like Vidocs and Amazon.com.

And conflating that with piracy and theft? Wise up.

For some reason, there seems to be people who defend bad actions by bringing up bad actions from others, as if somehow absolving themselves from any wrong doing. It's pretty sad to see.

Edit: Just like this^

That promethean pistol, looked like someone held it in and it charged less then a plasma pistol timewise, then he hit a dude and it killed them.

Is that how it works? or was the other guy already weak...

thats how it works, the secondary fire is like a time-based "mauler"

Yeah you probably shouldn't post any pirated content, just out of respect for the 343 team.

As for spoilers, as long as you tag them appropriately, seem to be fine here. Any more, and it should probably go in the spoiler thread. Although that's hardly up to me lol

First, I was calling him out on his shit. I was not saying that it some how makes it right. But sure spin it whatever way you want.

There was no malicious intent from whomever uploaded the song remixes. None.

The fact is it takes 5 seconds to report a video for infringement on Youtube.

You click the flag and report the problem and it's done. Problem solved.

If Frankie or anyone else at 343 or MS wanted the songs pulled THEY could get it done and get it done fast.

It only takes 3 infringements for an account to get nuked off youtube.

We do at least know that there won't be a "Forge World", right?

Look at Forge World as Disney World. Now we have three dedicated spaces: Forge Land, Forgey Park, and Forge Flags. Forgey Park's gotten some elaboration but the other two are pretty much yet to be seen, minus one room in Forge Flags.

Yeah, but it also automatically releases the shot, you can't "hold" it like with the Plasma Pistol. Meaning if you don't time it right you either waste precious ammo or have to switch, potentially wasting a few important frames in the middle of a firefight.

Repost for sir Bob on the 4sk vs 5sk discussion. :)

Yeah I saw it and was trying to put together a good post based on why I think the difference between a 4sk and 5sk is negligible in terms of the skill gap/ teamwork. I was also trying to word why I think a 4sk feels a lot nicer to me aesthetically.

Its hard to talk about those things and break things into cold hard facts - ultimately the 'feel' of a 4 shot kill feels a lot nicer to me, and I feel as though its cleaner in terms of awareness, has a nice cadence/ rhythm to it, and ultimately is classic. Although my only comparison point is the Reach 5sk Pistol and DMR and so I realize my critique of the 5sk is clouded by just not liking Reach.

(Although I do dislike the idea of having an extra projectile which needs to play the internet lottery of "will this shot even register")

When I say cleaner in terms of awareness - I feel as though with a 4 shot kill you can keep tabs on people and make calls outs that much easier. If im playing Guardian and put 2 shots into someone who runs into Blue I can call out "Blue room - half shields".

A teammate who is also half shields can judge if he wants to jump in, from a call out point of view he knows the risk he is taking by going in. 5sk seems less 'clean', its a bit harder to keep tabs on people and know what their shields should be like in the same way. I feel as though for game readability knowing 2 shots = half shields, 1 shot = 1 quarter shields is important, what is my opponents shield like if I put 3 shots into him? Is he half shields? What about if I put 1 shot into him? if someone calls out that he has put 1 shot into someone and I am slightly weak after being grazed by an AR, how do I judge whether I should approach him?

In terms of the team shot discussion, I feel as though 2 people getting a teamshot should be rewarded. I also feel as though adding more players to that teamshot already rewards the team doing the teamshooting (maybe not mathematically - but those players are in a stronger position to deal with the next people they see). I also feel as though its more practical in a game like Halo - and rewards proper map control to keep the number of teamshot participants needed for that advantage down. On a map like the Pit, proper teamwork doesn't involve clustering your team and going for a teamshot, it involves controlling the various points on the map, but being in a position to flank and help a teammate who does get into an encounter. In terms of FFA I really prefer the 4sk, the less shots that are needed the less likely kill stealing will happen.

This all feels very 'grey' to me, and simply spitting down the theory isn't doing much for me. (Not that I dont respect your mathematical breakdown! That was awesome - I dont have anything as empirical to offer). I think my original point was that in the Podcast they discussed originally having a 4sk for that classic feel, but after playtesting and seeing how quick people died decided that 4sk was too dangerous and so they made it a 5sk - I still wonder why they didn't keep the 4sk but toned down the RoF in order to lower the killtimes.

Yeah, there was no reason to call him out on anything though, was there? There is no moral highground at here. There is piracy and there is not piracy. The OST leak is piracy. But sure spin it whatever way you want.

Yeaaa it was fucked up to post and I guess talk about those leaked songs. So for that, I apologize. However, I will say that I am no doubt buying the album and Nemesis is god like.

Invasion didn't happen in matchmaking until it did because 343 didn't ask for Invasion maps until then. Bungie never asked for them outside of Forgetacular.

I wish we could have gotten one more update so the maps could be properly forged to have CORE_RESETs and such. But it was a very successful update, and I consider that somewhat lucky since Invasion is fucking hard

Fuck yeah, looks like my initial Halo4 assumptions hold up. DMR is king, Dexterity perk FTW and looks like shielding or ammo for the other perk. Why would anyone want firepower?
To shred people in close range combat.

You sure about that?

There have been hype threads for albums in this very forum where people openly talk about and post links to leaked songs and the mods have not cracked down on it.

Fact is the only reason any of you are up in arms is because Frankie said the magic word.

It will be pulled down if 343 or MS wants to pull it, simple as that.

The videos I've uploaded are all from Soundcloud which Neil released himself.

http://soundcloud.com/neil-davidge/tracks?format=html&page=1

All found there, all the videos I've uploaded have 3rd party copyright on them, I can't make any money off them either, although, I doubt that excuses the piracy issue?

The only reason I mentioned it is because I was worried about the spoilers.

The Frankie copyright issue mentioned is a whole nother issue, but im ok with checking them out if they are officially released.

Yeah guys, Tashi has the right to diss us all for our mediocre skills

I mean, just look at how many competitions he's won. There's no way any of us could ever compete with that.

The mods haven't banned Slightly Live or locked his thread.

It would have been locked if NeoGaf wanted to lock it, simple as that.

All the same.

Going forward can we keep spoilers out of here or at least spoiler tagged? Its easy enough to do.

Dont think I have felt aggrieved by anyone in the past, but I worry going forward that if we simply follow the general Neogaf rules that people are either going to get spoiled or have to bail out.

Slightly Live

Dirty tag dodger
Not forgetting to mention people have been banned for posting spoilers openly.

To be fair, I'd never intentionally spoil anyone that doesn't want to be spoiled. Before that separate thread, I posted pretty obvious spoiler disclaimers.

Even if folks disagree with my love of spoilers, I don't think anyone here has ever had an issue with the way I treat the spoilers and other people here.

Heck, I'd be more than happy to not post a spoiler if I was ever asked to do so, but there's never happened either.

Going forward can we keep spoilers out of here or at least spoiler tagged? Its easy enough to do.

Every spoiler here been tagged and all major spoilers have been kept out of this thread altogether. It's not cool to ruin someone else's enjoyment.

Mods decide who gets banned on a case by case basis, mods probably haven't even seen his post.

Frankie however has seen the youtube links. Him and the entire backing of Microsoft can decide if these songs being uploaded to that website matters in the grand scheme of their marketing of their product and if it will ultimately affect their marketing negatively.

And just so we're clear, you're saying anyone who has ever linked to a youtube video/song not uploaded by the copyright owner is a pirate or is supporting piracy. Cool, good for you. Now go be mad at everyone who has ever linked to a song in a song recommendation thread.

What are you smoking today?

You needlessly and childishly brought up Slightly Live. That is what I am saying. PM a mod if his spoilers bother you. You said I should just flag the Youtube visoes right? So pm a mod here about spoilers. By your logic, shouldn't Frankie be out there getting people banned for linking to spoilers?

I'm purely calling people like you out for needlessly dragging up other issues. In this case, you clearly have some grudge for reading spoilers that Slightly Live didn't cover up.

I was thinking the same thing. The only confusion I have at the moment is that the remixes should be part of the special edition OST, yet Neil Davidge has uploaded them publicly to his soundcloud account before the OST is even released. Why? I have no idea.

2. it shows when you try to get someone elses ordnance there is a little meter lasting about 3 seconds to pick it up

...

If this is the case then maybe I can use personal ordnances to bait people into assassinations. Just another tool in my toolbox towards humiliation. I love the concept of assassinations. Official and earned T-Bagging. Now complete with killcams and final killcams. ;) No matter how good the other team is doing, they still feel like an idiot when they know I'm around them and I still pull off the assassination. So satisfying... :)

Those are some damn solid points. The "feel" of the cadence is definitely a hard thing to measure with hard facts, but I get what you're saying. "Chain" teamshotting, or a person going from being shot by one person to being shot by another person around the corner, is definitely something I didn't consider. I definitely agree that 4sk definitely benefits that better than 5sk does. And shield/health awareness is definitely important too as 5sk means just another interval to muck up a reading and be less accurate. Labeling a player as 1sk or 2sk is definitely preferred over labeling someone as 1sk, 2sk, OR 3sk as well as keeping track of it and accurately labeling is better under the 4sk.

And only briefly bringing back in the math; under a 4sk between 1 person involved and 3 people involved you get a total of 2.5 seconds shaved off your kill time, while under 5sk you would have 3 seconds saved off your kill with 3 people. So while you don't get as much shaved from 2 people in 5sk you still get more time shaved when you add that 3rd person. And you still get a reward for adding that second player it is just .5 seconds less of a reward (from 3 secs in 5sk to 2.5 secs in 4sk).

And I'm definitely curious as to what their particular reasoning is behind taking the 5sk route. Not for argument, but FOR SCIENCE/theorycrafting. :)

Siglemic would be the best Halo 4 player ever if that was possible.

I can see siglemic picking up a controller, switching the layout to Super Mario 64 and pulling a Mirror's Edge with his Spartan. While piloting a mech.

Someone should totally figure out the lyrics for Haven (Hundred Waters Remix). What I've got so far:
