Halo |OT9| One Final Effort Is All That Remains

Good to see some more variety in aesthetics, got a bit tired of the brightly lit, grassy, canyon maps with white forerunner/human structures on it. Still wish it was a Covenant structure or something, we've seen enough human stuff. Also nice that it seems to be smaller than the other Halo 4 maps we've seen so far, although I'm a bit worried that close quarter power weapons could be a tad too powerful a it. Let's just hope 343 won't give us an abundance of them like Bungie did with Countdown. Hopefully the map is good for Objective gametype, especially 1-Flag, Oddball and KotH.

To the first bold, I'll be really surprised if round-based games are in matchmaking based on what we've seen and heard so far. Hope I'm wrong.

To the second, it's pretty odd that Kynan ducked the comment by throwing out the kingly Regicide gametype. Makes me wonder how badly objective gametypes as we've known them are getting scalped.

At work and on mobile. Can someone post screencaps of the new map? Thanks!

I'd bet we have a Covenant themed map in the last 2 to be revealed.

I really like the aesthetic change on Abandon though, like Over said it's not a sunny canyon. :p

The map looks really great artwise, I have to see more Gameplay to know how it will work, or the maps.

Hope King of the Hill is still in.
This map is definately the map BsAngel described

Looks good to me. It's too early to say, obviously, but I could see it being a lot of fun in SWAT, FFA, Oddball, and Team Slayer.

I totally agree with this:

I hope the rest of the unrevealed maps deviate from the standard human / Forerunner palettes we've seen from the other maps. I'm down with more human stuff, but make it unique, like Reflection.

Tough to say how the map will play without any actual gameplay on it.

Definitely has a spooky woods vibe going on. A little reminiscent of Tim Burton even.

I just don't think the purple goes well with the white/tan UNSC structures.

One thing that I think Halo (multiplayer) has been in dire need of for a long time: a lush environment with green all over the place and god rays shining through. Every tree I ever see in any halo game looks bare and awkward. This map looks no different, unfortunately. At least the structures and ambient light looks pretty cool though.

I thought the exact same thing, they should stray as far away from their forge pallet as they can for the maps so that we don't get tired of it as quickly.

It has to be a Forge map:

I know they aren't the same piece, but it looks like its the exact same style and pallet. Im not really digging the look of the UNSC structures on Abandon.. it would have looked best if it were all just natural stuff like trees, etc. The bright white UNSC stuff sticks out like a swore thumb.

More likely a map that you can forge on, not necessarily a forge map. Blackout was a map that you could forge on, but I wouldn't call it a forge map. Same with Avalanche. And just cuz they keep the same style of buildings doesn't mean they are forge pieces either.

I'm getting confused, how many competitive multiplayer maps will Halo 4 have (non-forge world type maps)? 10?

and how many forge-world type maps will it have? I could have sworn I heard 3. Correct me if I'm wrong.

What if the Forge reveal shows us that we get not one, but three specific palettes - forerunner, UNSC, and Covenant. Would it be a bad thing if the maps built some of their structures from such a greatly expanded list of goodies?

10 multiplayer maps.
3 forge environments.
No Forged environment maps in Multiplayer playlists at launch (grifball excluded).

You've got it right. 10 MP maps. 3 Forge maps.

Another thing that bothers me about AA's.

They have to make a map thinking about all of them instead of just making a good map.

Not saying this is a bad map though, looks quite interesting.

Not at all and I actually expect to see different styles. The forgeworld objects are all being recreated with a unified theme (unlike forgeworld where the styles were all over the place). And from what I remember each environment has its own palette. This is hinted at in the RTX video when they go into the structures category there is a "Ravine" category next to "Blocks", "Buildings", etc. But just because the style of the buildings are similar doesn't mean they are forgeable. I definitely dream they are, but I'm not holding out hope.

I don't think its Forge pieces. Watch again as they go through the interiors and top portions. Too much going on with too much detail to be Forge pieces IMO.

Has anyone that's played it had a problem with the maze-like look in some of the maps? There seem to be many channels and corridors- I haven't seen anyone endlessly chasing, but I am not sure if that's a function of these expo-type gameplays where everyone just wants to fire guns.
