Medal of Honor: Warfighter |OT| of Knock Knock, it's Tier 1

So you're going to let the opinion of a few people on NeoGaf erase your interest in the game. Interesting.

MOH 2010 had some reality-bending moments too, I don't think this is much different.

Yes, because it adds to issues I've had with pre-release media. Looks and sounds like they're chasing after COD more than they already did, instead of doubling down on presenting real scenarios.

And I don't recall any real reality bending moments, unless you wish to discuss scripting issues and/or gameplay mechanics that don't line up with what the story is presenting.

During the section where you play as Adams and are pinned down at that small hut, it felt legitimately tens, more so than any moment in the Modern Warfare series. Running out of ammo, getting swarmed from all sides...man, that's what really made me start to see how special Medal of Honor is.

It really felt like they were making a legitimate tribute to what those men and women actually face everyday, instead of it just being marketing bullshit. To hear that they're chasing Modern Warfare 2 & 3 absurdity is upsetting.

You mean the segment where I gunned down somewhere between 50-100 enemies in the span of 10 minutes while my teams happily shoveled ammo my way every time I interacted with them? Yeah I felt super tense on the hardest difficulty.

Apache sequence, flying way too low.

Taking of Bagram Airbase. Did not go down like that / huge assault on the airfield.

Were the 2 main ones off the top of my head. Then again both of those sequences would not have been "exciting" otherwise.

In some of the footage for warfighter there are small odd things that you can see here and there. But its a game meant to be entertainment, so its all good.

Funnily, I never asked for ammo because they said they were out of it. Didn't know you could even get ammo from them at that point.

And yeah, there were a ton of guys but that's kinda the video game aspect of it. Not to mention that it was still tense to be taking out guys uphill then having a bunch that slipped through right behind you.

Fair enough, but those never ranked anywhere near the bullshit scenarios that could be could in Call of Duty. And keep in mind I say bullshit in a good good way. I like like Call of Duty but wished Medal of Honor: Warfighter would've done more realistic stuff, while not being a full-on boring sim. Doesn't seem to be the case.

As a buddy of mine said "COD = saving the world every 15 minutes."

From all the footage I've seen of Warfighter, which is a lot, it still doesn't seem to stray from their authentic, real-world mentality. I don't think it veers into Call of Duty too much, no more than 2010 did.

I haven't seen the video but I think a "close escape" scenario like a poster described is still more grounded in reality than blowing up a nuke in space to EMP the East Cost or destroying the Eiffel Tower to stop a tank column like in COD. :p

Just wait until you unlock the Demolition class and you get a 1-hit kill grenade launcher with 6 grenades after a 3 killstreak. Followed by getting a SMAW rocket launcher at 5 kills which hasa huge blast radius. I hope they've changed it in the final game because it was hella overpowered in the beta demo.

Isn't that realistic considering it's a freaking rocket launcher/grenade launcher? I don't know, though.

To be honest though, for MP I just want a fun, balanced game.

The only thing I don't like about the CoD franchise, is how successful it is. I'm not saying it should bomb, but for the games to be breaking entertainment records, it isn't THAT good.

But to say that it is a low quality game is absurd. There is a reason why so many people buy it and so many companies try to copy it. I think if a game tries to copy CoD it's fine as long as they do it well. But saying that it MoH will suck just because they are templating their game around the current 2 biggest FPS franchises in the industry is ridiculous.

I agree. At the very least you should wait - I'm sure there will be many campaign play-throughs posted on YouTube come Tuesday evening.

I saw the video and from what I remember, the person playing was truly horrible (not that I'm any better lol) ... missing enemies left and right, reloading immediately after breaching a room - maybe this helped add to the unbelievable moments of gameplay? :). Also regarding the very first moments of gameplay, I can't say that I've seen a similar incident happen in real life so I can't say that something like that would never happen.

He is truly an abysmal game player lol. He re-uploaded his videos, and right after he breaches he runs right up to the enemies and tries to melee them.

I mean good God, man.

EA's been misleading people about what this game is for months now, that's the difference.

Misleading how? Even the ads running for this make it look ridiculous as any other scripted shooter (fuck yea explosions and car chases!), all the videos put out for it have not shown anything realistic either. Anyone with half a brain knows it's not a sim shooter. Anyone whose played the many previous MoH games know what the game is not

It was never supposed to be a sim shooter.

It's supposed to be an accessible shooter, with an eye for authentic details. They've even said so in their dev diaries.

I really liked the fresh beat he had going on in the background during the review. And his velvety voice. I might just go subscribe to his channel.

Any military shooter where the mission is a group of dudes infiltrating an area where they are outnumbered 100/1 is pure fantasy. It's a shooter and people expect to shoot shit, but CoD and the like take it too far. The AI is ridiculous and the amount of hand holding is excessive to the point where you're doing nothing more than taking orders.

My interest in MoH died during the e3 demo where the Marines are in the water taking fire; they make their way to the shore and up a flight up stairs, blow up a door and then enter to hit the mandatory slow-mo bullet time sequence to clear the room. Try fucking harder fellas.

A military game completely designed around stealth would be a breath of fresh air at this point. Even something like the Sniper Mission in CoD 4 was better than 99% of what these games are bringing to the table now.

That Shore Leave mission does look pretty uninspired. Beach assault? Check. Call in an airstrike with your binoculars or whatever? Check. Snipe some dudes from afar to cover your other dudes? Check.

To be fair, they're fighting Somalian pirates. These are highly trained Tier 1 operators and Marines working in conjunction fighting outnumbered against untrained militia.

Sometimes I feel like they put less dudes on your squad for the sake of gameplay. But honestly, I don't care within a certain point how realistic it is. I just want a well designed and fun game.

Everything is tsundere to me
and it's gone. just a heads up, there's already an update weighing in at 454MB.

I saw it. It was basically stuff from the first half-hour of the gameplay. Some stuff at night
with exploding shipping crates
, the standard "this is how you do shit" obstacle course
through the eyes of a "terrorist recruit"
and then that pirate fortress assault. At the end he was doing the sniping element but he didn't seem to realize that the sniper rifle had bullet drop, so he kept hitting low. Looks about the same as the last one. Doesn't really say much for later on in the game though. Let's see if it checks its boxes.

I think it's pretty telling how well this game is going to sell when the OT on GAF is only at 5 pages a day before it gets released.

I'm actually looking forward to the SP campaign, but I don't think this is going to be a home run for EA.

anybody wants the 50% off deal from origin? Can't seem to use it for my Singapore store purchase. I guess it is only for US/ UK citizens?

Really excited for this. The singleplayer for MOH 2010 is one of my all-time faves and one of the better representations of JSOC SMUs you'll find in a work of fiction, be it games, television, or movies.

Nothing beat the single player in terms of realism to me this gen for any FPS title. Won't buy at full price because BF3 still owns my MP time, however I will play for sure.

Not completely relevant to warfighter but I bought moh2010 day one and for whatever reason(I don't remember now) I was rather disappointed after the first two missions. I ended up putting it to the side and eventually just forgot about it.

Yesterday I installed it again and holy crap, again I found it a slow start but mission 4 onwards was just a blast. Absolutely loved it. A couple of moments gave me chills, the music was just so fitting which made it amazinf. Restored my hype for warfighter now despite me not enjoying the demo at all. I have complete faith in a really exciting single player. Cannot wait!
