I don't understand why unmarked FUD spoilers are preceding marked FUD spoilers. Was planning on watching the whole thing tonight, only seen ep 1. Ah well.

Dang it 343 lol. Well I can deal with it. I don't like it that you guys are purposely destroying the immersion the player has with the game. However as long I know what I do matters i'm fine.

PS. Make it in-game please.

Essentially, we kinda had agreement that spoilers should be tagged for a week. So, FUD EP5 should be tagged till next Friday.

Correct if i got the wrong impression...

Actually yes, more or less - you select it from the main menu and "go" there, but don't have to exit to the Dash. And you can go straight back into the main game menu from Waypoint.
:/

Well it's a start.

Thanks for being honest and quick with the answer.

BUT WHERE'S THE INCENTIVE TO WIN IF PEOPLE HAVE TO ACTUALLY LOOK AT MY PROFILE TO SEE MY RANKS WHAT THE FUCK BUNGLE
Directly seeing whether you've gone up or a down a rank is part of what made Halo 2 and 3 ranking great. Now I have to go check fucking Halo Waypoint to see if I ranked up or not. They said it's not in the game at launch because they wanted to properly test it but it really sounds like it's just an afterthought. Unless they show it right next to your name or at the very least right when you click on your profile it won't be of too much use.

Personally, it [Dominion] just doesn't sound appealing to me, and I think most people will find the same thing after the play it for a while. To me, Halo has always been most enjoyable when it was fast enough to be exciting but just at the edge of being able to process and control the flow of gameplay. I don't want to camp huge bases that get fortified the longer I camp them, I don't want these long, drawn out games where I need to trek across big maps to attack a base.

Succinctly summarises my opinion and initial reaction to Dominion. Camping in that box room on Longbow to then be rewarded with fat weapons reminds me of playing Invasion on Boneyard (shudder) and having the sniper, rockets and laser stacked next to each other and going on a running riot with them; should feel awesome, turns out to be a really flat and colourless experience.

It might turn out interestingly with the overshield aspect for the attackers plus I think there's real potential for Rambo moments where you 1v4 and bring your team back into it. I suspect though that games will become lopsided very quickly and it will demand the strictest of trueskill to properly function.

Tuned in, saw Banshee spawn camp flipping and moaning on the mic. See ya Reach!

Don't have to go back to work until Tuesday, November 13th. It's party time, chumps!

I'm working all week, sigh. Just had three weeks off work from accumulated holiday hours, had to use them before November 3rd. Bollocks.

Also, staying out of the gamingside thread. I can barely keep up with this one.

A) Well done 343I in actually responding and trying a solution. I don't know if it's a great one, and it shouldn't be such a late announcement but glad ye are at least responding.
Now Campaign Theatre. Get to it!

B) Blatant FUD spoilers? Oh riff raff, how you disappoint.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Can't speak for Heck, but since I've only seen Ep 1, I knew nothing about
"the romantic interest of the protagonist being killed."
If that's completely unrelated to FUD, would be good to know, otherwise...bleh.

We are pleased to announce, just days away from the worldwide Halo 4 launch and the first MLG Halo 4 tournament in Dallas, the Competitive Skill Rank system in Halo 4.

The CSR will appear post-launch in an update to Halo Waypoint and associated Smartglass applications.

Been busy the past few days and haven't posted much. Looks like nothing has changed and there are still no ranks. Lame.

Gotta believe bro!! We may get it in a title update before H5 ;)

edit...

I guess thats what happens when you don't look at the forums for a couple hours...

Its not everything we want it to be guys, but its a step in the right direction and I think that we need to recognize that. Being able to have properly matched games is a huge step up from Reach. Now we just need clarification if To4 will match against To4. I have faith that somehow, someway, 343 will make it viewable in the player card or in the career stats. That will be awesome. In the meantime, thank you very much 343. I hope I can speak on behalf of a minority community, but we thank you for acknowledging and fulfilling a tough request to the best of your ability.

I think this will actually be worse than Arena...

Every playlist is ranked so now if you want to keep your rank in say, slayer pro, you'll need to play at your best all the time. Plus if you don't have any friends online who want to play for a rank with you, you'll have to rely on random teammates who may or may not actually want to win the game.

I called that. Guess its better late than ever.

Confirmed ranking system similar to the one in H2 and H3 will be in H4 2 months after release.

I agree. However if it was nothing or this I will take it. It takes the player out of the game though. It definitely will not inspire that one more game moment.

I for one am glad that every playlist is ranked. Step it up scrub.

So, the CSR is in all "competitive playlists." Does this mean that there will be non-competitive playlists where CSR won't be tracked (or displayed)?

In Halo 3, you had your competitive playlists and your non-competitive playlists; for serious playing you jumped into Team Slayer, and for goofing around with your friends you jumped in Social Slayer. Will Halo 4 have an equivalent? Not sure how I'll feel if I have to wear my try-hard pants for every game in every playlist.

You are ranked in each playlist separately, I don't see how this is a problem. If you have no friends for slayer pro and don't wan't your slayer pro rank to go down then go play another playlist.

I agree. I liked seeing immediately whether or not I ranked up for winning or went down when I lost. I imagine the CSR is going to get about as much attention as the BPR does.

Who said that every playlist is ranked now? The blog entry clearly stated:
Which playlists will support CSR?
All competitive playlists will support and track CSR. As the playlists will continuously change post-launch, the exact list of playlists that will support CSR will be determined when the system is ready to drop.

And then it is much better to split the ranking to each playlist. Every playlist requires something different.

Okay, some playlists may not have ranking. But others that I also may want to play casually may have, and there lies a problem with me.

The level of acting was never that great to begin with (well, not Oscar-worthy). The script for FUD: Part 5 had its cheesy moments, but it concluded the series well.

Not sure about the obligatory "wake up John" moment from Cortana, but the end scene with Old Lasky was pretty good.

Although why the hell are people still going to cryo in jammies?

I respect 343 for announcing a 1-50 system, and I'm glad they've done it. However there are still crucial issues: firstly the shadyness and mystery surrounding the entire debacle, and secondly that the ranks, at least from my limited understanding, aren't actually viewable in a hopper playlist like previous 1-50, thus making them slightly irrelevant.

I don't want competitive ranks to pimp my virtual e-penis to my friends at the pub, I want it so I can quickly and accurately analyse my teammates and opposition during matchmaking in the pre-game screen. If I can do that then I'm happy. If not then it sort of misses the point.

Better late than never, but the specifics need to be right.
