Rock Band DLC Announcements

FINALLY "I Ran". Would have loved "Space Age Love Song" instead of more Billy Squire personally. I remember my last save on Vice City I'd have it to where I'd go to the garage in my mansion, have my favorite bike ready and "I Ran" would come on as I drove around in the rain at night, lol.

It's so funny looking at comments on YouTube videos of RB songs that are also in Guitar Hero and seeing the GH fans go on about how GH was better in every way. They just sound bitter that GH died while RB still lives and even got a new game recently.

But GH was better ... by default, for us PS3 gamers in Europe who were waiting endlessly for a release thanks to some shady exclusivity deal with Microsoft. ;) Instruments were better too, and support for those instruments was better - shops could simply return faulty instruments, which wasn't possible for Rockband basically, resulting in many stores simply not stocking them.

But once Rockband 3 came out I forgave them, and Rockband 3 is better than any GH ever was (though I liked GH's song studio/sharing).

Now though, for me, Rocksmith is the new guitar hero, in the literal sense of the word. Awesome.

Not sure where to stick this. Don't think it's new thread worthy, and it's technically Rock Band DLC related, but as of today, there are no un-FC'd-on-drums official Rock Band songs left in the Rock Band catalog, because 2112 has been 100%'d.

According to that thread, Bass has been completely FC'd since RB3 came out, I think Vocals is at zero, and Guitar is still sitting at 1 (Operation Ground and Pound)

This week, Harmonix remembers that the 70s happened

Tomorrow is our annual Rocktober Rock Band night (I may even shave my beard into Rock-Chops, for shitzengigglez). Is the half price DLC still on or has that finished now?

We always end up buying a ton of DLC the afternoon before people start turning up.

I only know If You Leave Me Now, but I'm buying them all just to promote more Chicago. Hard to Say I'm Sorry, Glory of Love and You're The Inspiration are some of my most wanted Rock Band tracks.

Shows how lousy the new PSN design is too, I was checking it last night and didn't notice these.

They're all pretty nice on keyboard. They've mapped a ton of brass sections to have something to do. If You Leave Me Now was great, I'm hoping for the more piano oriented tracks now. Hopefully the name "Chicago Pack 01" means there's more to come. Has there ever been a numbered track pack that never got any more?

Not that bad.

Has there ever been a numbered track pack that never got any more?

Virtually all packs are numbered in case there's more, but it's very common that another pack doesn't happen. I mean, Hautewerk's is numbered.

I wish I could still afford DLC, but there are too many other things I want this holiday. With that said, the DLC lately has been good to great. That's a great selection of Sublime songs.

I'll be getting the Sublime pack. Whittling away at stuff only GH had before. Still tons left, though.

*not getting The Wrong Way, forgot how offensive that song is

It should be noted that "Revocation – “Chaos of Forms” (160 MSP) 2x" is the 4000th song for Rock Band.

Depending on what metrics you're going with. I was bored, so I pulled the numbers earlier in the week- that number counts the four pulled DLC tracks, but not the pulled RBN tracks (which I think there's three of). Count those all and Sublime got it, count none of them and a different RBN song gets it. (Or you can go by songs available in RB3, in which case we're not even there at all yet.)

Harmonix considers it song 4000

Although I personally would like to see the count minus 2x bass pedal versions.

edit: Blitz is the only Rock Band game that can load every single song at once, right? Did we ever get confirmation from the full completionists?

Oh, I know, I'm just sayin'. The occasion gave me a reason to poke at data.

And we're at 188 double-bass tracks, with the 5 from this week.

Let's be honest here:

Every 2x Bass Pedal track loses money, doesn't it

Hell if I know, I've only done one. Not that they're much work though, most of the time I'll fully animate kicks even if they're reduced in the playable part. So making a 2x is just cut, copy, paste, compile.

Of course it helps that I avoid metal like the plague since we've got so fucking much of it.

I should really re-up my XNA membership and actually test songs this time around. I've considered going after songs to author (being in Omaha, my first target would be Saddle Creek Records, so Bright Eyes and the like) but I don't want to screw with that kind of stuff until my other things stabilize.

Is it at all likely I'll find a pro drums expansion kit for under $30 in the US these days?

Wait for Black Friday

Oh man, I'd kill for some Bright Eyes songs in Rock Band.

Sadly, I doubt it will ever happen.

omg, if you can get Decaparicodos, "Art Is Hard" by Cursive and at least "Bowl of Oranges" by Bright Eyes that'd be the best :)

Not picking up Dave Mathews but I do believe he was one of the exclusive artists to whatever that thing was with the air drum kit. Kid Rock and Clapton were also exclusive.
