But but but...I realllllly can't afford to get a Vita right now. Just played Persona 3: FES for the first time and it blew me away. Want this game so bad.

I'm buying a Vita only to play this. I'm that crazy about persona games. Totally deserved scores btw, such an incredible game.

Is there a bullet point list of what's actually new?

From GiantBomb

Basic Gameplay Additions

The new character
Marie.

Persona 4: Golden features wireless internet support, allowing players to request the aid of other players while in dungeons.

The ability to call in help from party members not in the active party, as well as more direct battle assistance from Rise.

Players can now choose skills to inherit during Persona fusion, rather than rely on random skill selection.

A "Safety" difficulty setting that presents the player with an infinite number of retries after falling in battle.

New Personae have been added to the compendium. Additionally, party members other than Yu now have access to a third tier of Persona.

Shops are now accessible during the evening.

Other Additions

New anime cutscenes have been included.

New and revised in-engine story events.

The game features 1.5 times the voice-over of the PS2 version.

New music composed by Shoji Meguro, including a new opening theme and battle theme. The original battle theme, "Reach Out to the Truth" now only plays if the player is able to ambush enemies for the advantage.

Environment graphics have been updated.

It is now possible for the characters to become licensed to use motor-scooters, which plays into some story elements and battle mechanics.

New special story events are included, such as a Halloween event, a summer beach trip, and a winter ski trip.

New features can be accessed on the TV, including anime clips, music, and a quiz show.

Special outfits for the characters can be unlocked and worn in the dungeons to change the party's appearance.

New Social Links

An all-new Social Link character named
Marie of the Aeon arcana.

A new Social Link with
Tohru Adachi, of the Pierrot arcana. A pierrot is a stock character of French theater equivalent to a fool, and thus the Fool arcana.

Two new Social Links:
Marie, a Persona 4 Golden exclusive character, and Adachi
. Both Social Links can unlock new contents on story, such as new dungeon and additional scenes for all ending types (Bad/Good/True);

New Difficulty levels similar to Persona 3 Portable. On New Game+, player can change and even customize the difficulty levels on config menu. The levels are:Safety(Very Easy in NA Version), Easy(Left untouched in NA Version, used to be called Beginner), Normal, Hard(Left Untouched in NA Version, used to be Expert), Risky(Very Hard in NA Version);

Additional voice over dialog;

Chie and Teddie have new voices in the English versions;

New animated cutscenes;

More Personas, including new Ultimate Personas for the Investigation Team;

New areas, such as a beach and a ski resort. Okina City, which was only seen during certain Social Link scenes, is now accessible;

New events, such as a Halloween event and a skiing trip;

Player can explore Inaba on evening time, with few limitation places (similar to Persona 3);

Yu and his friends now have motorbikes to get around various areas;

Tag team attacks;

A quiz show mini-game;

Certain equipment and accessories changes your party member's appearance, much like in Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable. This equipment goes in a different slot and does not affect the party's stats;

New Garden and Bug Catching features;

Trophies;

The ability to choose which skills can be inherited by the persona you are fusing;

The ability to call for help via Wi-Fi when your party reaches critical status;

Clips from the Persona Music Live of 2008 and 2009 can be watched;

An option to replay animated cutscenes;

The addition of an in-game music player;

New scene skipping function for those who played the PS2 version that just want to explore new features;

If player fulfills criteria for at least good ending, daily activities are expanded to February 14th 2012, giving more time for events and social links;

New epilogue for the True Ending;

Some minor gameplay changes:

Some shadows/enemies have changed their attribute (weakness/strength/null) or area spawn;

New types of Shuffle Time;

Changes for NPC's or Fox's requests, etc;

Rebalanced characters;

Edit: Super Beaten. ~_~

Actually,
any social link can get interrupted if played incorrectly, from the nurse to Kanji, at least in the original game. It's relatively difficult to do, but the easiest way to do it is to plan something, particularly a date, and have those dates overlap. Dating both Yukiko and Chie, for example, will almost inevitably have one of the two running into each other during dates, causing both of their social links to be interrupted and for them to become angry at you for having cheated on them with the other. The only thing that's kind of funny about this is that you would think dating would be a topic of discussion and thus trying to harem it up with two women who are friends would be a terrible idea, but if you manage the schedule correctly it can be played around. Not honestly sure how to feel about that though, since at least Rise is fairly open about the whole idea of multiple partners, so it's honestly hard to say if this is just an admittance that the dating scene might be more open than most might care to admit, at least for younger generations.

Apologies for wall of spoiler.

What the. I've beaten the game three times and never seen this. Got any links to this on youtube?

It says a lot when Destructoid tells it's readers the best reason to buy a Vita is for a 4 year old PS2 port. Nothing against Persona, mind you...it's just not my bag.

Persona 4 is a great game, but yeah, even great ports of PS2 RPGs are not system sellers.

Hey are you playing P3P on the Vita by chance? Is anybody doing that? How does it look? Is the text legible? I just might buy it again for the Vita since I never finished FeMC.

I'm, playing it currently. Game is simply made for Vita. If you didn't know that P3P is for PSP you would totally assume that it is Vita game, That is because of art which looks wonderfull with standard Vita blinear filtering. Thought there is almost no anime cutscenes (in compatition to normal P3 or FES)

To me it's 10/10

I did a whole playthrough of it with Male MC on Vita. It looks splendid. Going down the other path next year, once I've had a playthrough of P4G.

Where should I import this from? I haven't imported a game in years.
I've personally never had any problems with Play-Asia or Videogamesplus.ca. I've been importing since the Lik Sang days, and both of these retailers filled that gap after Sony got them shut down.

Some people here don't like VG+, however, as they got hacked recently. I don't think anything was leaked that couldn't be gleaned from the electoral roll, but still, worth considering before you shop with them. If you do go with them, best to pay using a third party checkout system so you don't give them your card info.

This is probably the only game this year that I think justifies buying at full price. Well this and okami HD.

Yeah, Persona 3 Portable is pretty great on Vita. Not quite you'd-think-it's-a-Vita-game great, but as far as PSP games on Vita go, it's way up there.

PAL folks, where do you guys import from? I used to order at planetaxel but they closed and videogameplus.ca screwed me over by not notifying me when my data was stolen.

I ordered it from Play-Asia. I usually order my import games there (or videogamesplus.ca). The last time it took 4 days with normal shipping to get a Vita game here. Usually it takes around 10 days, but I'll try my luck. Cost me ~38 euro's with regular registered shipping.

It's kind of hard to compare them since Persona is so unique. It's basically like 70% visual novel.

Judging both games as just RPGs, Xenoblade is miles better. But that's not really what Persona 4 is.
