Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale gone gold ; final boss revealed

All right it's Monday and since the game went gold last week, stores should be receiving their stock soon right?? I'm sure the game is out there or is on it's way to most stores this week. I'd be delighted to get the game by Wednesday(I'm off from work that day.) so I can get my paws dirty all day.

The only thing is I assume since it won't be up on the store, our Vita download codes will be useless until next Tuesday. Which is kinda a bummer haha

Good thing I have a PS3. I think I'll be playing this on PS3 mostly because as good as it is on the Vita, I can't help to think that the game probably would've been even bigger and had more content if it was made solely for PS3. I just can't help but feel that they made the game with the Vita version in mind and simply ported it over to PS3. The two versions are too identical. I mean I love that it's on the Vita also but I keep having this recurring thought.

But isn't peoples issue with DmC that it isn't unoriginal enough :).

There has been some people that wished PSASBR was straight up smash copy with ringouts. It would have been interesting to see SB give it a shot and see how that would turned up. Hard to say what I would have preferred, I quite like this sorta bastard child of smash and dissidia.

When I first saw the game, I was like, "Yes, a Sony Smash Bros!" Then, when I heard about the Super system, I was like, "Aww, it's not like Smash after all." Then, I got to play it at E3 this year on PS3 and Vita, and was like, "Hey, this is pretty fricking fun!" Then I got into that first private beta, and was like, "Ok, this is day one, for sure."

I love that the game really feels like a hybrid of Smash and Dissidia. Smash, because of the 4 player brawler bit, and Dissidia because of the "building up your attack power to execute an opponent with a super attack/HP attack."

It really wasn't until I got my hands on it that I really understood how different the game was from Smash, and in a good way. I've recently started playing Melee and Brawl on the Dolphin emulator on my PC, and, yeah, Smash is Smash, but it took quite a while for me to get back into how the game feels compared to PBR. It's not like you can just pick up one, play it for a few hours, then hop into the other and approach them the same way. I kept trying to moves in Melee that weren't there, because of PBR.

The games are different. And that's the last thing I'm going to say about this dead, dead, subject. Sometimes, I wonder if people are logging into their alt accounts (hence, the junior status of most of the people that do fly by troll or bait posts), just to get shit going in this thread.

The Smash vs All Stars argument is so old you would have thought it'd have run its course by now.

Still, 8 days away! I'll get the game on Tuesday (I'll just keep my pre-order with Amazon. But I'm weak, so if I can get it early, I may break down and do it), and then I have a 4 day weekend thanks to Thanksgiving, so that's going to be all, PBR. I've been playing AC3: Lib to keep me busy until then. I think most of my game time is going to be on my Vita, so this weekend I'm buying a larger memory stick (only have the 8 gig that came bundled with my launch unit). I'm debating if I want a 16gig or a 32gig. I gotta make sure I have enough room for PBR.

I kind of wish that the PS3 version of All Stars had, on the disc, the Vita version, so you could just pop the PS3 disc is, sync your PS3 and Vita accounts, and install the game directly to your Vita, instead of having to download it. :(

Ah well. My excitement is building to fever levels as the day comes closer. Looking forward to the OT. Is it going to go up tomorrow?

But All Stars has been in development for 3 years. I'm sure the Vita was in R&D at that time, but I'm 100% positive that it's specs weren't known, so I doubt that Superbot would have curbed their vision for the game for a theoretical handheld successor to the PS3.

I also don't see anything from the gameplay side of PBR that suggests that it would have had to have been toned down from the PS3 version. The game is simple and straight-forward. This isn't some physics heavy, graphics pushing powerhouse.

The art assets are simple and clean. The combat is simple and straightforward. The other bells and whistles wouldn't require as much from the Vita or PS3 as well. This is a fighting game, not Uncharted. But wait, we got an Uncharted on the Vita, and it's one of the best in the series (better than DF, not as good as UC2 or 3, as expected). Even open world AC has translated to the Vita wonderfully.

I doubt a 4 player brawler is bringing the Vita to it's knees.

EDIT: GAH, double post! Sorry!

Yea that went through my mind while making my post. It most be how peerless the Vita version is in comparison to other Vita titles that make me feel as though the PS3 version was gimped in some way.

True. I just feel as though it would've been more graphics intense had it been made for PS3 only but the way it looks right now is sufficient plus you mentioned the final build looks much better than the last beta and the last beta looked incredible to me.

I agree with everything you said so it must be the wait that's making me think some of these thoughts. I just can't wait to be there day 1 choosing Spike, Sackboy, Drake and Nariko and having a 4 player brawl on Dreamscape with my sound system at 50db shaking up the house!

I wonder how story mode is going to play out.. Is it going to be like Smash where you start by fighting one character, join a partner and do a team battle, board the platforms(lol), fight Big Kratos, break the targets then fight rival and Master.. .I mean Polygon Man?

Hahaha, could you post the full image?

I'm guessing you only need to beat the game once on legendary to get the trophy. I do hope it is challenging. I still no little about AI. Challenge seems to come fromm the trials

He calls everyone who disagrees with him on anything a baboon.

It gets really old really fast.

Haven't noticed. Can't be worse than that one poster here who starts every other post with "As a girl..." Wtf!

But anyway, Smash baboons just rolls off the tongue. It works.

Okay that intro is pretty good like. The Sackboy/Little Sister was the best part. And Polygon Man!

Just over a week left....

I'd love to see a Vergil alt for Dante in this. Superbot said they didn't have too many options for Dante because Capcom didn't want to spoil the DLC costumes they had planned, now that Virgil's been revealed to have a DLC scenerio in DmC we might have a better chance of him being one.
edit: Looks like someone on GameFAQs bought the Vita version lol.
Fingers crossed we get some leaks before its official release, I really wanna see that Killzone stage.

It's taking all of my willpower not to call up the GameStops around me and just wait for the digital release

problem is that person who got early vita live in UK, and you are better off calling local game stores since you have high chance to buy early copies from local stores rather than gamestop or any big chain stores.

I'm still in shock as to how accepting the community is over blatant disregard for originality whatsoever. There is no way you people can applaud a cash grab such as this.
Ive always wondered why we dont have more smash bros clones, I thought it would become the next craze like Karting games after MK. How the heck do we not have a console version of Jump Ultimate Stars???

Dude is there a version of your avatar in a larger size? It's making me laugh like crazy

I am glad they are going for the Teen rating. It would have been awful to tame the more violent characters even more to get the E rating.

Wait, so is this the super secret game the winner of The Tester was going to help develop? Or was that something else?

That was definitely GOW:A. They wouldn't have had Todd Pappy and his staff observing their playtest if it wasn't going to be that game. Also, GOW:A wasn't announced at the time.

not sure the semi-silhouettes was a great idea for the opening. i had to squint to identify most of them; not everyone has the equivalent of Kratos's tattoo

Lol, implying when Nintendo makes a Smash game, they aren't making a cash grab. There's a reason Iwata confirmed Smash 4 just moments after the Wii U was officially announced.

not to mention that every sequel imaginable can be pegged as a cash grab. the only way he has a point is if this looked like a quick-and-dirty clone you'd find in the bargain bin. which of course it doesn't.

Fullscreen and HD you'd have to recognize them if you know em or I'd honestly have to recommend glasses .

Well I could mayyybe understand Spike. He's on for like 2 seconds and only shows his backside.

well, that's the thing. i don't recognize all of them on sight, and maybe Superbot is overestimating how familiar everyone is with the characters on the roster.

that's not a knock against the roster, either; i'd have similar problems with Smash Bros.
