He did not do that nor is that why he won the prize.

and praised his pledges to reduce the world stock of nuclear arms

"I state clearly and with conviction America's commitment to seek the peace and security of a world without nuclear weapons," he said to applause.

...

The document that would define how deeply the United States is prepared to cut back its nuclear arsenal - perhaps to 1,000 warheads or less - and how radically to alter U.S. nuclear doctrine is still awaiting Obama's final approval.

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/...ms-reduction-treaty-replace/story?id=10318006

President Obama and Russian President Dmitri Medvedev signed a new nuclear disarmament treaty in Prague today, replacing the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) that expired Dec. 5.

In college, Barack Obama wrote about nuclear arms. As a senator, he viewed a deactivated Russian nuclear missile.

You have the timeline wrong. He won the prize before that was actually accomplished, and pledging you'll do something is not the same as actually doing something. The nuclear issue is just one of a laundry list of items that the prize committee cited.

Most importantly, slightly reducing the number of nuclear weapons is not the same as dismantling the nuclear arsenal, which was your claim.

If good intent were enough to win a Nobel, I'd have one right now.

It's interesting how these people have convinced themselves Obama created unemployment, welfare, and food stamps. Has he even done anything to increase those programs?

The unanimous support for Obama in these Philadelphia neighborhoods - clustered in almost exclusively black sections of West and North Philadelphia - fertilizes fears of fraud, despite little hard evidence.

If I remember correctly, didn't 99% of black voters nation-wide vote for Obama? Makes sense to me that if West and North Phillie are basically exclusively black that Romney probably wouldn't get a single vote. That's the most logical way to refute anyone calling for stupid ass voter fraud.

My older conservative co-worker is still depressed. Barely talking to anyone other than to complain about everything. And I noticed she took off her 'Women for Mitt' and RR 2012 bumper stickers.

YOu don't know him
I don't care what party you vote for, those stickers are dumb and you should be forced to keep those on your car as the mark of being a shameful part of humanity you are. It seems like crazy people tend to have them on their cars (Mittens stickers around me from what I have seen, and I was in a blue state).

My boss has a "vote for Obama in Florida" bumper sticker on his car. We live in Ontario. Yes he's crazy.

Every once in awhile around here I still see a "W '04" bumper sticker.

A friend of my brother has started a blog:

http://boycottthebluestates.blogspot.com/

To sum it up, he lives in Alabama and is insisting that those in the "Red States" boycott things from the "Blue States". This includes companies with their HQs located in a "Blue State". However, he self-admits to typing the blog from a Mac computer. And that's only the beginning...

This is hilarious on so many levels. Mostly ..

http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2011/11/states-federal-taxes-spending-charts-maps

Alabama is in the top 10 of of states who recieve the most federal dollars per dollar taken in Tax. The feds gives Alabama $2.03 for every dollar paid in federal taxes. Their whole state is federally funded by blue states like Cali that get back much less than what they put in. In fact, according to this, the only red states that take back less than they put in are Texas, Nebraska and Arkansas.

He can start by boycotting the tax money Alabama receives from the blue states.

It's odd that he would boycott blue states but not products from COMMUNIST CHINA or oil from SAUDI ARABIA.

China isn't really communist anymore, if it ever really was. It's a pretty thoroughly capitalist country nowadays. If it weren't for the stigma of its self-labelling as communist it'd probably be a model for the authoritarian-capitalist axis that the tea party vaguely represents.

Might as well just tell him to get the fuck off the internet.

Actually, China still very much sees itself as moving towards a Communist ideal, but this (according to them) necessitates a "phase through capitalism" to achieve it. I'm paraphrasing a party chairman here.

Considering the centre of power is still the Communist Party apparatus it's not really surprising they'd say that. And whether or not it's true, China is an aggressively capitalistic country right now.

So much so they need to stage violent riots to keep unrestrained industrial pollution down.

Fuck..there goes watching TV! Also, convince him Al Gore invented the internet..that'll screw em.
No need to convince him of that. Apple, Google, Cisco, Intel, and AMD are all based in Calfornia. Microsoft is in Washington. That would make it pretty much impossible for him to use a cell phone, PC, or Internet.

Pretty much. California all by itself is an unenforceable boycott if they want to use computers or the Internet.

Many conservatives who fear "socialism" (reality or not), wonder why Americans think that the same thing could not happen here as it did in Russia as socialism moves into communism. (reality or not).

Sure maybe not the genocide, but the strict rationing, poverty, etc. etc.

Well for starters, America's already at the height of capitalist development compared to a Russia that was just emerging out of feudalism...

War Peaceman

You're a big guy.
I'm confused, has waiting lists increased dramatically under the new government and is the NHS now refusing treatment and demanding payment?

If not quit with the hyperbole.

Lets have a discussion when the NHS starts to have substantially longer waiting lists and forcing people to pay. Let me tell you it won't happen, because the party that kills the NHS is the party that will never be re-elected as our entire nation depends on it.

If our Conservatives were running the US they would be run out of the country as communists..... The American right is so much further right than ours they make the BNP look like socialists.... The Democrats behave more like our Conservatives, although in some ways they appear to be further right than even our conservatives.

I should clarify, I didn't mean they literally were doing so, but the reforms were likely misinterpreted as an attempt to do so by this clearly simple chap.

Haha, yeah, we also have a democratically elected representative government and not a dictator won by a series of civil wars.

I can't believe it's almost 2013 and we are still afraid of the soviet boogyman.

It saw itself that way before Deng's reforms in 1978. Since then, not so much. The word communism is just branding for the party in power now.

Haha one of the teens who posted a racist tweet got shamed on the news.

http://www.news4jax.com/news/School...tweet/-/475880/17390414/-/scbj13/-/index.html

Someone in the comments used the "it's his right to say what he wants" excuse. I still can't believe people use that excuse. There are things called consequences.

Just saw this gem on Facebook: http://beforeitsnews.com/military/2...d-have-swung-election-for-romney-2446626.html

It comes from "Dufflel Blog".
The Duffel Blog serves the men and women of the US Military with a daily dose of military humor, funny military pictures, and faux news. We take an interesting and funny look at military life. We focus on veterans, military stories, defense, politics (sometimes) and life on base — with a comedic twist. We are in no way, shape, or form, a real news outlet. Just about everything on this website is satirical in nature.

How is secession good for either party (the state or the Union)? Please tell me this won't happen ever and that people will eventually be normal again some day?

I feel like this national idealogical divide is more divisive and prominent than at any other time other than the Civil War. Am I a sucker to a conspiracy theory of some kind of hypothetical Second Civil War? Why are politics so extreme these days? The moderates, especially moderate Republicans, seem to be gone now, and the electorate reflects this. Are we becoming dumber or something?

I'm not asking these questions rhetorically. I'm seriously worried about all the stuff I read in here and elsewhere.
