Media Create Sales: Week 45, 2012 (Nov 05 - Nov 11)

Don't believe virtually 100% sell through. Maybe 90%-95%.

With that in mind, maybe we're just seeing a case of trackers discrepancy and not Media Create not tracking download cards.

I doubt if shipment figures are exactly 600k and 200k as well, probably very significant rounding in both numbers.

I've noticed that it has never left the Media Create Top 50, in fact last week was 35th.

So in the last 2 months it has constantly been selling about 1.500 - 2.500 units per week.

Its current total sales should be around 160.000.

Yes, that was the reasons why I was wondering about this question.

it's been a while since there was a time for this

I think that needs to be updated to a 3DSLL.

I keep getting close to pushing Buy on a Vita at Amazon, but I just can't do it at 250. There's no way with these lousy sales numbers that it can stay at this price much longer.

even a price drop wouldnt make me get one. Sales like this mean the support wont be there.

Time to formally put Reggie and Kimishima on notice. Yes the market conditions are different here in NA, but there's still no excuse for how far behind 3DS is lagging here compared to Japan. The fact that I'm seeing no holiday/black Friday 3DS hardware bundles like we normally do is telling.

Either deliver the results, or find someone else who will.

It's not Reggie's fault that 3DS is failing (compared to Japan) in the west. Reggie isn't determining the idiotic pricing structure of games. The comical comments about not wanting to insult the original developers by releasing old games at cheap prices came from Japan.

I don't know why any dev outside of Sony would ever put more money into this thing. It's just not showing any hints of moving upwards after a very slow start. Sony is banking on a big Xmas in the West, but where will that come from? Assassin's Creed? Nope. Maybe CoD, but I doubt it.

Neither of them control Nintendo's software/hardware output and Iwata has said himself the tablet/phone revolution is only just taking hold of Japan.

Reggie needs to start showing results though; its the fact that Europe has performed better recently could mark him down. How well did NoA do in comparison to NoE/NoA last gen?

But anyway - we'll see what the holiday holds.

Vita is going to be a very nice PSP for me in the long term

Meanwhile, I'll keep playing Lumines, LBP, and P4G.

If they could ever get Lumines 1 and 2 on the Vita store, I'd buy one immediately. Until that happens, the PSP for me is still the best Lumines handheld. The new Lumines game is nice, but not nearly as good (imo) as Lumines 1. Unfortunately the Vita bombing killed any chance for DLC that would have added some classic skins(according to Mielke).

Yeah, my Vita is used mainly as a portable PS1. It's fantastic, but I wish it had the support it deserves :(

Very true.
I've been hitting the PSP and PS1 titles REALLY hard. Serious shmup frenzy. It's been a fantastic system, but a good deal of that isn't because of Vita titles :x
Ah well, I've got P4G and Atelier Totori+ coming to keep me company until next year.

Yeah, when I tried Lumines for Vita it really didn't capture the goodness of 1 and 2. It felt more like the PS3 version in the Vita, where it was more distraction and flashy than it is mechanically tight and easier to the eyes. Also the rhythm doesn't really flow well when the blocks hit, drop, or form squares to be erased.

Blame Sony. Had they bolstered their first-party catalogue instead of putting themselves at the total mercy of third-party publishers for support all these years they wouldn't be in this position. It was only in this generation that they stressed the importance of first-party games, after 2 generations prior to that. Two generations that could have been invested in the creation and cultivation of a robust profile of new IPs. Now instead of rolling first-party exclusives after first-party exclusives to support their handheld (like a certain competitor), they're in a backbreaking drought.

Bravely Default hangs in there even with the eShop treatment. Toushuchuu got a random-ass bump.

Nothing can be said about Vita.

Original wording from Famitsu
モンスターハンター3(トライ)G パック【カプコン】 3DS アクション 2012年11月01日

From the price, it should be the 3DS LL Black bundled with MH3G (digital)

From next week Famitsu will include this SKU at Best Price version.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
What's happening with Vita worldwide right now is something absolutely unique, or at least unique in the last decade: basically, we're looking at how a platform

1)Coming one year later its direct competitor
2)Very low profile first party titles and just one-two decent to good third party titles ( saleswise)
3)No big titles for the future announced
4)Being advertised (console gaming on the go) exactly in the same way its predecessor in a strongly different environment

Can perform. It's a self-alimentating train wreck which doesn't seem to stop soon, something no one would have imagined to see ( at least, not SO much) and which force us to recall extremely negative sales stories like the Dreamcast.

Selling in America while being a Japanese company? You must be crazy.
Yup, the news is authentic. The strong yen is fucking every export Japanese in existence. Selling more 3DS in America at this point is committing suicide.

Wow! Poor Vita.

I just remembered the title of an old Vita thread... "Simply the most desirable handheld ever". lol
:(
Even if support ceases to exist, I'm happy with my purchase. Vita is the best PSP.

Also, can someone remind me when the rest of the world is getting Animal Crossing? Whenever that is, it's the time when I re-buy a 3DS.

Came for the Vita numbers, left disgusted. I think it can't go lower and it always does.

of course it can go lower, plenty of room with 4k

still, was expecting a 3DS bump but jesus, this is really a BIG bump

Xilia 2 dropped like a rock, also expected

is Project X-Zone a semi bomba at this point?

those animal crossing figures don't include the download cards, correct? are those cheaper than just buying the game? i should hope so, though you never know with nintendo.

I believe they're the same price as buying the game.

I think Nintendo's logic is that they're selling the product to *stores* to in turn sell, and there's more risk involved with purchasing the physical boxed product to sell on than a download card - so I believe that Nintendo mitigates that risk by reducing the wholesale cost of the physical boxed product.

It's certainly an unconventional viewpoint for those of us used to DD being cheaper than retail, and I'm not sure I'm comfortable with it - but on the other hand, I hadn't thought through the retailers' risk factor beforehand.

Ultimately I think this might be another indicator - in the long term - of the physical boxed product being on the way out.

The US needs a Satoru of their own. We in Europe are quite happy with ours!

NOA fucked up not getting Animal Crossing out this year. It wouldn't be as popular, but at least it's something with broad appeal.

It's obvious now Media Create doesn't track download cards but they count virtual software that is preinstalled in hardware.

Anybody else think Soul Sacrifice is going to be the make or break point for the Vita? I feel like devs are anticipating the week one sales for that to determine whether to take their Vita projects off the back burner or to shift them to 3DS / PS3.

Genuinely think Vita's hit rock bottom now. With the new colours and general holiday spending, I can't see it going lower than this for a few months now.

Please note: this doesn't mean it'll put in even a half-decent performance, because it won't.

one thing for sure, they need to push the release date as far from AC's radius as they can

They pushed it away from AC, but they pushed it straight into the path of DQVII and Monster Hunter 4, which will do it way more damage.

I sincerely hope not, but I can seriously see it getting massacred.

I see a lot of "The Vita deserves success" or "Vita deserves third party attention" comments every week.

...why? Isn't that attitude exactly why it's not doing very well? It doesn't deserve jack shit, Sony needs to push it with consumers and developers, not just let it sit there deserving support. It can "deserve" success all it wants until it dies, which at this rate is not a far-off, inconceivable result.

No consumer electronics product in history has deserved success. Companies have made their product successful by being smart.

It seems like such a "I like this thing, but Sony doesn't, so I will blame them and not the product" mentality.

yep it's pretty much over for them in Japan. Maybe they can find a free slot in between Jan/Feb but either way..
