I got the same garbage email from TRU, enraged is the word that comes to mind. Especially after getting the confirmation email that the order was processing. I will never do business with TRU again.

I had to reset my router before the Wii U would work on mine. I heard you can also manually set your wifi settings and it'll work.

Quick question: When doing a VC content system transfer, are the games deleted from your Wii when transferred to the Wii U, or will the content stay on both systems?

Maybe it's just me, but the actual download for the update didn't take TOO long... only about 40 minutes. Still long, but the actual updating seems to be adding another 20 minutes to this <_<

Picked up the system 11:00am Eastern at Gamestop, they only had enough basic and deluxe systems for pre-orders. Got ZombiU, NSMB U, Black Ops II, and a set of screen protectors.
TV set up was super easy and fine, but I have the most basic set up (no cable, no receiver). Now, just waiting to get through the looooong system update. I'm going to pick up Trine 2 from the e-shop when I can.

I reset my router. No go.
I got on the line with Nintendo support. They manually set my WiFi settings, so that meant I could connect to my Network Device. Which was a minor success, since I couldn't do that at first.
But then I still couldn't connect to the internet.
So now I'm on hold for Tier 2 support.
My 3DS connects fine. (and computer and laptop...)Just want to say thank you for the link since I'm connected now too.
I assume the screen saying "Downloading data for update..." is the screen it is supposed to be sitting on? Because the progress bar only filled 1% so far.
As for when I went to pick up my system, the Gamestop opened an hour early (10) but I think you would have had to call to know this. Anyway, I got there at 9:45 and was the only car in the parking lot. Stayed in my car til 10, guy unlocked the door and I walked out 5 minutes later with my system. No one else had come in so I can see why they didn't bother opening at midnight, lol.

How do you check out the storage left on your SD card with the console. I have the option to check my hard drive but not the SD card. Probably just completely missed it. I think the idea of using the gamepad as a remote is awesome but I can't get it to work with my HD-DVR from DirecTV. Works great as a remote for my big screen though.

Anecdotal, YMMV, etc., but I walked into Future Shop out of curiousity an hour after the store opened and they were sold out of both black and white. They'll get a couple whites tomorrow, but no word on getting more of the deluxe boxes.
I'm happy mine shipped Friday to arrive tomorrow.

Got to Target 30 minutes after they opened and walked in and bought a Black console.
Then went to pick up my pre-order one at Gamestop. Got there 10 minutes before they opened. I was the only one in line.
Launch is pretty slow, uneventful around here. Just for comparison, when Fallout 3 came out, there were about 20 people in line at this same Gamestop.

Did the same at my Gamestop. 11am but had the black premium edition. First one to walk out with a system. Nobody there!
Also picked up screen protectors, ZombiU, NSMBU and Black Ops II.
Connected fine to my wireless network, now just updating the system. At least the music is soothing.
Then I plan on going to the estore to pick up Nano Assault and Trine 2 then hit the physical copy games.

The thing is I had gotten an email two days back saying my store preorder was delayed, not expected on the 18th. I got an email this morning saying that my online TRU was also delayed. So I went to walmart to check if they had it. THey said they sold out of all 8 deluxe units at 12:01. No luck.
So I decide to pop in to TRU that is really close to that Walmart and I see in the customer service Isle like 4 people waiting in line and the first one had a black Wii U, he was paying for it. I said WTH!!! and stepped in line, took out my receipe, no problem! Got NSMB, got ZombiU and Scribblenauts.
Now onto the download...

Best Buy was hassle free for me this morning. Walked in at store opening, showed my receipt/order, picked it up, and left. Painless. They had no line, though, which I thought was odd for a store in a big city. Maybe people without pre-orders will actually be able to grab one afterall. Best of luck to all.
Do you think I'd be able to use my twitter handle (first name plus initials of middle and last name) or will Nintendo ban me or something later? I like having all of my accounts under the same user name. The only user name that's not my twitter handle is my NeoGAF account strangely enough.

Here's a warning to you external hard drive folks:
The G Drive Slim by Hitachi does NOT work with Wii U. Works with my PC, but when I plug it into the Wii U, it sits there making a repeating noise and the Wii U sits there forever trying to check it. This is specifically a USB 2.0 device, not 3.0, so according to Nintendo there should be enough power from the ports for it.
Dang it, gonna have to wait for BestBuy to open at 11 to go return it and try a different drive.

I had a really good experience this morning at Best Buy. About 40 people showed up. Three of us had in store pickups. The doors opened and pretty the entire mob went jogging to electronics. I strolled right in and went to the in store pick up counter and five minutes later I was done. Easy.
Also I just started the update.

So my GameStop decided they were not going to open at 9, like they told me two days ago, and instead they're opening at 11. No phone calls... nothing... to say the time changed (they knew since yesterday). Said fuck it, walked over to Target, and picked up their last deluxe system there.
Checking with a couple of friends to see if they need one but if not, just going to go back to GameStop and cancel. They won't care because they'll sell it anyways but man... they always find some way to rustle my jimmies.

Futureshops and Best Buys outside of the core might be your best bet. Had 35 non-preordered units at Yonge and Dundas FS when they opened this morning at 11am, with about half being claimed by the people in line. Call stores and go. Now.
You can but then you don't have full gameplay on it and you only see maps / kill streaks / friends / classes
