Go into your local store and have them look up the set in their computer. They can see if any other stores in the area have it in stock. They can then call them and hold it so you can use the coupon and take advantage of the deal. I am lucky here because the store at the mall near me got rid of their music department years ago and replaced it with a toy section with a decent sized Lego area.

At the minimum with the Lego sale, you will get 10% off the Shuttle. It will be 10% off orders of $150 or more and free shipping plus the free holiday set. That is the MINIMUM you will get with it. So it may wind up being a few bucks more than Amazon at the most, but you get the exclusive set.

And it is only 1 1/2 hours. Sale goes live at midnight EST.

No, I am not counting down.

I hope Pet Shop or Town Hall is on sale, might go over budget and nab those as well if the deal is good.

Finished the Winter Cottage. Really fun build, though the piece count make you think it's a lot more than it is. There are a LOT of tiny pieces (eg. The kitchen is tiled with a bunch of 1x1 flat tiles) Still fun though, and I look forward to setting up my small table tree and putting it next to it. Little disappointed that there is no back wall.

I might try to mod the top of the chimney to look more "traditional" so that I can put the series 8 Santa figure on top.

Agreed on the cottage being a great build. I'm only halfway through, but the kitchen details are just as great to me as the fire house second floor.

Lego will only wind up being about $4 more before tax after the auto 10% off. And you get the holiday exclusive set.

Plus the Lego VIP points, right? So per $100 that's 5 points earned, so $200+ would net him/her 10 extra points, which is essentially $10 bucks off a future purchase!!

Right?

Third party seller. They are like Amazon in that respect. Some stuff can just spike randomly with resellers. They have Queen Anne's Revenge marked up, but a few stores still have it in my area.

Yeah, I didn't realize that that was going on. I never shop B&N.com so I didn't know they have Third Party Sellers... :/

Knowing that, the price makes more "sense" I guess... :p

Yup. Lego.com is the better deal in the end unless he doesn't pay tax on amazon.

And thinking about it, don't think I will get Sith Fury tomorrow. It just sinked in that I have bought so many sets this last week. Should use that money from Sith Fury for a nicer dinner out with my wife on our anniversary in a few weeks.

Edit: also, I am working all day tomorrow. Should I post the OT 2 before work in case this thread locks before I get back?

And one of those Star Wars sets is a Wal Mart/Lego.com exclusive.

EDIT: Also, you can use this to check if your BN store has the set in stock. Have them hold it then go in and use the 30% off coupon on it this weekend.

Just put a Sith Fury on hold just in case. Sadly, their site does not list the Monster Fighter stuff, so I cant do an online hold.

This is a Great Idea and I did it just now. Put Mines of Moria and Lego City Police Dept on hold... here's hoping they do reserve them for me because my Grand Total I think would be:

Police Station 105.00
-30% = 73.5 +

Mines of Moria 79.95
-50% = 40.00

73.5 + 40.00 = 113.5 + 8.75%tax = 123.43

123.43 + Two 10 dollar gift cards for the Buy 75 get 10 dollar deal.

123.43 - 20 dollars in gift cards (I know that I can't use them until a later date but it's still savings used at SOME point.) = 103.43 for 1559 pieces

PPB = 6.6 cents!

I like this deal!

I'm not sure if you should post the new thread. What time do you get back from work? We might not actually get near the 20000 threshold by the time you get back, but by then you most likely will do it anyway because we will be right near the "finish line". So maybe just do it if were near or at 19950??? :/

Edit: lol What ghostmind said. :p

Keep in mind the extra $10 gift card doesn't activate until 12/26. And if you have a membership you get another $10 off.

Dammit. Now I am back on the fence for buying sets. Forgot about the police station. Was eyeing that months ago. Looks like a great parts pack.

Edit: I work until 7 pm. Of course I just realized I could just save the text file with the op in my phone. :)

Does anyone know if you'll be able to use the 30% off coupon on the first set and 50% off on the second set? I was planning to use the coupon for Helm's Deep, but if I get 50% off the next set, I have to figure out another set to pick up.

It usually takes the coupon off the bigger set, then 50% off the lowest price one. The trick is if the coupon made the initially expensive set lower than the original low one.

Damn...Hyabusa is supposed to be $5 off, but every time I add it to my cart it shows up as regular price...But the sale pricing shows up for the mini modulars.

Maybe I'll add the Seaside house as my second set. That's $10 off

I edited because I thought that you might remind me about the 12/26 activate part of the deal lol! And I'm not a member because I hardly buy anything from them typically... But I might reconsider...

What do you mean by "the trick"? Is that a good thing or bad thing if the coupon makes the initially expensive set lower than the original low one?

Hmmm. I guess that rules out Vampyre Castle for the 2nd set.

Be wary of joining. They talked me into joining last year on Black Friday and then after I was a member, they said I wouldn't get an additional discount on the already discounted sets. They also refused to refund me the amount of my membership. I was pretty pissed.

You have two sets. One is $100, the other is $90. Normally with b1g1 the $90 set is 50% off. But you use a coupon on them, and it takes it off the $100 set, making it $70. Now that set is the lowest before applying the b1g1 discount.

Ps: damn you for reminding me of police station. Think I shall snag that and Vampyre castle. Only want the station for parts.

Hmmm. I guess that rules out Vampyre Castle for the 2nd set.

Their discount is always off the sale price. So if things are on clearance you get another discount on top of clearance. The discount off coffee pays off the card by itself. At least that is how I justify it.

I would have been too!!!

So if Helm's Deep is whatever 129.99 and they are offering it for 30% off with coupon and you want it you should have been able to get the additional 10% because from what I read 10 minutes ago on their FAQ the 10% is on:
10% off the Barnes & Noble sale price of other eligible items. Includes adult hardcover books, (((already discounted items))), Bargain books, music, movies, Café and almost everything else.

Which I think means that they fucked you!

Yup. I got back at them by placing several small ($2-$5) orders on their website to take advantage of the free shipping for members. That was my form of passive-aggressive revenge.

Hmmm.... Sooooo,

Police Station is 105 - 30% = 73.5

Mines of Moria is 79.95

Now Mines is mor(ia) than Police Station by $6.45 cents.

So they take half off of Police Station which is 36.75 off instead of 40 off of Moria.

So I lose 3.25 cents in savings in that scenario... Still a good deal I believe.

Basically 65% off of Police Station and Regular Price for Mines, or:

127 for both with tax = 63.5 each!

If I saw Police Station at Walmart or Mines for $63.5 bucks I would be very tempted to get both! Mines for me and my son, Police for my son mostly.

On the rare chance that I get a 50% off scratch card tomorrow, I am going to see if I can grab this (they usually let you add to your items if you get a big discount):

Sounds like LEGO stores are also having in-store sales that aren't on S@H. The Kingdoms Joust set at 20% off (plus 10% minimum scratch card) was an example.

That's good. I'm going to the midnight opening here (in PST timezone), and I'll report back on any in-store deals. I hope Haunted House is discounted, that was the one I was planning on getting for 10% off.

I bought 15 series 8 minifigures to open with my family on Christmas. I'm sad I was asleep at midnight or I would have grabbed some now-sold-out series 7s.
