Yeah, freaking Curien Mansion drift challenge is some serious BS. I managed to get the crazy bend more or less down thanks to spending FOREVER doing the damn Billy Hatcher one, but the stupid jumps are screwing everything up. WHY did they have to put jumps so close to the start of drift areas!

Take it slow, and use Tails, or another character with good handling.

Just starting up the game now...you cant set up custom rooms or anything on the Wii U version yet? Was kinda hoping for something similar to the way Mario Kart Wii worked at least. Hopefully I can quickly get my bearings and join you guys online at any rate.

I'm using Amy with her handling mod, which at least claims to have max handling. The biggest problem I have is that the stairs before the fourth zone seem fond of firing me about half-way into the middle of the drift zone. Bleh, maybe if I just really slow myself near the top of the steps.

Finally got the dumb Curien Mansion drift challenge. I pretty much had to come to a stop at the top of those stairs in order to utilize that drift area at all. Definitely not what I'd call a well thought out design there.

Anyway, I'm sitting at 140 stars now, so I think I'll just go ahead and take a break from the game until the patch finally shows up.

Finished first world tour race (hard mode), game is pretty fun and easy to catch onto so far. I like how you cant just drift through the whole damn course, the tracks seem pretty open yet not so open as to where you never really scrape other racers. With everything going on in the background, does take a little extra work to focus on the race.

The WiiU pad is pretty comfortable to race with, so thats a plus as well.

This may already be known but... you can't do the Burning Ranger's Stage for Time Trials. It does the same thing as sprint. Also, did anyone know there is a super pickup extremely close to the beginning of Ocean View? It contains 3 boosts.

Speaking of which, in the time trial of EGG Hangar (which game is it from again? ...and what game is the theme from?), there's a Super pick-up that isn't removed, and you can get a weapons from it.

Some people say it's from Shadow the Hedgehog , some people say it's from Sonic 2. I don't really know.

It doesnt seem like the characters have specific all star moves this time around? Or at least nothing as crazy as Sonic turning into Super Sonic.

Yeah, I believe they did this so the all-stars can appear online without letting someone have a huge advantage.
I know Knuckles, Shadow, Beat, and B.D Joe's are the same.
Danica, Amy, Amigo, Ai Ai all throw things.

Pretty much just simple stuff. Nothing too overpowered.

Yeah seems pretty well thought out, nothing too jarring as far as transformations go either.

It's the Death Egg. You can see the blue ship Robotnik uses in the first half of the Doomsday Zone in the background being loaded somewhere, so it's presumably based on the Sonic 3 & Knuckles incarnation.

The music is from Shadow the Hedgehog, apparently. Don't know what level, though.

Which is good, lets everyone have some fun with the All-Stars without complaining it's too over powered. I love some of the little tunes that go with the All-Stars, my favorites being Shadow's, Sonic's, Vyse, and Nights.

Speaking about Vyse, Him + Handling Mod is the best thing I ever experienced ever. He may be a tad slow, but I have never complained about not being able to make turn with that mod.

Say S0L a few questions about the Vita ver. if you can answer it-
1- Will IT allow for 5-player multi like the WiiU?
2- Will the Metal Sonic and OutRun DLC I get with the PS3 ver. work with it? I've seen the Bonus Edition for the Vita ver. on Bestbuy.com so I was wondering about that.

Wow. The Afterburner stage?

That was like F-Zero, Star Fox, something from Treasure, and Hydro Thunder all rolled into one o_o

Still no patch, *sigh* what's going on?

EDIT: Oh wow, just reached a House of the Dead level, I didn't know it existed. :O

Oh dear god, I'm sitting at about 75 stars and for the most part been doing 2-star per challenge. I'm not a masochist, but I really want to unlock Gum who is about 30 stars out of my range. :( Curse the people who didn't program alternate ways to unlock things!

Anyway, what are some tips to get better against CPU races? I'm stuck on B-level racing comfortably placing 2nd or 3rd and getting A-level 1st place on a harder difficulty seems so impossible.

After beating all the missions in the fifth world, you'll unlock a 6th world and S-rank with it. You should be able to get Gum with just beating all the missions you can reach on B-rank.

It depends on how far behind you are in a race but a good cheap way to get ahead is to hope you get an all-star and then save it for the last lap. If you aren't too far behind it can rocket you into first place and the longer you wait before using it the less likely it is for someone else to overtake when it ends.

Yeah, a lot of people immediately use an All-Star as soon as they get it, but that's a mistake. The rubberbanding AI means that even if you build a huge lead with an All-Star, the AI will likely catch up with you if you use it on lap 1 or 2. The rubberbanding also works the other way around though; the AI rarely builds up too much of a lead, so if you save the All-Star until the second half of the third lap, it usually propels you into first place, and the AI doesn't have enough time to catch up.

Seriously, even if it means you have to hang onto it for a whole lap or so, and not use any other items, so be it. I've lost count of how many times I beat Expert challenges using that trick.

Let's start with a screenshot or a video ...

Show us something, it's releasing soon!

The online on PS3 is a desert... In Europe there are no players o_o

Indeed, it's a sad state of affairs and the ridiculous waiting times have led me to just not even bother anymore.

I did however jump on this game for like the first time in a week and had a flawless single race around Adder's Lair, I felt like a machine and it was wonderful.

I've read that you can bypass that one glitched boost challenge on the WiiU version and actually play some of the other states in the World Tour mode. Is this true? If so, how can I bypass that annoying and glitched Casino boost challenge level?

Apparently if you just fail the missions a few times on the easiest difficulty they just let you through or something along those lines.

Yeah, this makes me sad :( I really want to unlock stuff, but I'm discouraged by the fact that some levels don't work. I know you can skip them, but I feel that I'm missing out on the full experience. Plus, I'm hoping the patch fixes a few other glitches as well.

I'll give that a shot. Also maybe i'm drifting wrong or not long enough? I only can see to hit red.

red - purple - white I think, best way to tell is the size of the flames out the back.

Deift boost takes into account how many degrees you have turned as well as time drifting, stops snaking mostly.

Gotcha. Speaking of boost, this first boost challenge on hard is killing me.

EDIT: No wonder, its glitched with no checkpoints...missed the other posts.

So I got to try out local mult-player in the Wii U version and here is what I noticed.

With one person on the gamepad and one person on the tv, the frame rate is not locked at 30fps like it is in single player.

During areas with heavy water(boat driven)the frame rate can drop drastically..like down to sub 15-20fps. When on the roads, the frame rate is consistenly around 30fps, sometimes dips and sometimes higher. However during the airplane laps the frame rate can increase well above 30fps and even hit 60fps. It's very inconsistent and Im wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

I cannot wait to play this game @ 60 FPS, 1080p, with all settings maxed out.

If you are reading this Sumo, I expect the PC version to have all the effects bumped up to 11. Gimme dat Motion Blur, DOF, and particleeffectz.

I'm finally at my stopping point. I have 95% completed of the game, and that's without the boost challenges and several other things. I have S ranked all the GPs and all the challenges I am able to do. All I can do now is either wait for the patch or "try" to play online.

Oh patch, why are you not here yet? D:
