Here's the thing: PS+ is sometimes used for product promotion (Darksiders -> Darksiders 2, Borderlands -> Borderlands 2, Bioshock 2 -> Bioshock Infinite). It isn't solely for trophy whoring on the cheap or whatever.

I'm guessing Warner didn't see fit to get NA interested in the upcoming Dark Knight Rises retail release.

Well, shit. I just bought Arkham City GOTY on Steam for five quid. Spoiler: Most of the full games available on PS+ are or have been dirt cheap at some point.

Sony probably should have managed better how many games were added to PSN+ each monthly cycle. This fluctuation between quantity is rubbing many wrong. One month we are seeing like 5 new games, the next like one, plus all the rehashes from previous months. They should have maybe spaced some of those games out better to avoid backlash like this. If this was Bioshock 2 and another game or two I think many would have been happy.

Also Bioshock 2 is great fucking game. Especially the DLC. Give it a chance if you have not already played it.

if SCEA gave us at least an outline of here's what to expect this month with more details weekly I don't think people would be as upset but instead we see all this stuff Europe is getting for the month while our weekly update is very lacking in comparison

I got a bunch of PSN cards cheap and so I want to get a PS+ sub so I can get in on the discounted stuff, but my HDD is only a 120GB, and with all the ridiculous 5+ GB installs even with a disc, it's getting pretty full. Is there an easy way to clone the contents of my current HDD to a new one, say a 500GB? I do have multiple external hard drives if those would be useful in this scenario. However, I've read that there are some saves that can't be copied to external devices under any circumstances, which would be problematic.

1. Delete everything you don't mind downloading again. (Note: Movies can't be redownloaded, unless rules have changed.)
2. Do a backup (it's in the system options menus on the XMB) to an external USB drive.
3. Swap your old HDD for the new one.
4. Reboot PS3, let it get settled.
5. From the same menu where you made the backup, you can now restore from backup.

I've done it. It's a bit scary, because of stories of backups not working, but mine did just fine.

For protected saves, I think they can all be backed up to PS+ storage. Someone else can answer if I'm wrong, since I'm not aware of the details here.

The usual caveats about drive swapping: don't go to fast, use a screwdriver the right size on the blue screw (assuming it's still the same kind of setup on new models), discharge static from your body before touching anything metal on the drives or system.

Activate PS+, back up all your game saves to cloud storage (1GB)

Have at least 200GB free on your Externall HDD and do a back of your PS3
Everything carries over

Deactivate account (just as a precautionary measure)

Add the new HDD, restore that back-up file from External

Process will be a lot of hours (many to be precise)

At a glance, people see Europe gets Batman, Vanquish, Limbo, BSI, Knytt, and MK. Then they see US gets Bioshock 2 and some discounts.

The real issue I see in these threads is that games for SCEE receive almost universal praise and those for SCEA are polarizing.

Is it the game choices themselves relative to the audience? Is it simply a vocal, entitled SCEA population? What's the dynamic going on here?

SCEE is definitely picking the more interesting games, that's all there is to it for me. I won't complain, free is free, and bioshock 2 doesn't suck, but man Europe got hooked up.

The Backup Utility should transfer over your locked saves, but just to be 100% safe you should sign up fot PS+ before changing the HDD. If you have PS+ you can just upload them to the cloud and then download them on the new hard drive.

As for cloning the original, the only option is the Backup Utility. Unfortunately I don't remember if it's able to to carry over installation data to a new HDD : /
