Combination joke post/I already own the DLC and am basically done with Halo 4. And the fact that I spent $25 so I could get a map pack later than everyone else who got it for free doesn't help.

Its still got a nice mix of shooting, grenades and melee, now with AAs turning that tripod into a table. It has Halo weaponry, shields, vehicles, and the ability to tackle vehicles without needing one yourself or having to pick an engineer-spec in the menus. Movement is quick, jumps are high, and you look and feel more like an armored spartan than ever. You can still strip an opponent's shields and go for the headshot with your precision weapon, bunny hop with your rocket launcher, or sword lunge everybody caught in your hallway of death. You can still sneak around and give people the beatdown, and you can still jack vehicles, and you can still splatter and you can still man turrets and rip them off their housing, jump into man-cannons and teleporters, activate camo or an overshield. You can still sticky people in the face with plasma grenades, super-combine them with needles or get the quick drop with a shotgun jammed into their gut before firing. You can still pop a guy's shields and then decide whether to follow them behind the corner they just ran into, or toss the grenade to finish them off, or play your cat and mouse games with skillfully timing your cover use, reloads, attacks and retreats.
There is a lot of Halo here.
Damage control, but its not a bad idea in its own right.

Finally saw the effect of the Operator spec tonight. Holy crap - the Ghost doesn't even have time to touch the ground after an EMP before it's ready to boost and fire again. Warthogs don't even lose all their momentum before starting to accelerate. It's ridiculous, and makes the combination of it and loadout Plasma Pistols coexisting in the game as if one apologizes for the other feel kinda gross.

Rule of thumb with all perks is that they cut effects down by 50%, or enhance them by 50%. So yeah, EMP is usually about four seconds, but with Operator thats cut down to two. For Banshees that includes them falling, and for Warthogs and the like it includes their slowing down, so in actual practice it can go by in a flash.

They actually run a weekly bulletin explaining forza merchandise and community screenshots and if you peel through enough of the archives you can occasionally find some tidbits they'll hide in there, but they're from posts made on GAF in the first place so it doesn't help that much.
I would guess they're a bit too busy updating matchmaking and working on the map packs to do too much honestly.
Of course it contributed, but its a roll on effect of a bunch of little things.

i think 343 need to accept that Halo will never be number 1 anymore, but instead, like their parent company and the console their game resides on, make Halo the strongest number 2 around.

Halo's popularity was going to dwindle regardless. The only thing that can get Halo back its crown, is a surge in popularity of sci fi. Even then, Treyarch will find a sci fi angle to keep people in.

I wonder if this deserves its own topic? Seriously there was already so much miscommunication between 343, MS and customers before launch and now even after launch. I really hope there will not be a repeat of this for the next title because it really is annoying as someone who is paying money for this stuff.

One of the developers tweeted that they were going to work in making small maps, so, they should give these maps for free to everyone with a map pass

God the communication for this game has been so unpleasant.
That's the thing - I don't have the map pass. I spent the 800 points for the standalone pack before it went free. I suspect that even if season pass/LE users are compensated, the folks who went standalone will be overlooked because it's more difficult recordkeeping.

Turns out It would have been more cost effective to buy the standalone game and the pass.
I'm mad.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with free maps, but when MS pulls this crap and there doesn't seem to be any compensation in days to come, there's a reason to get angry. I don't think 343 is gonna pull a Cold Storage either.
