Hey VitaGAF... got a quick hardware question for you.

If the unthinkable should happen and one's Vita screen gets scratched (even with a protector on it), is replacing the screen through a third-party component site (like this one) a viable solution to sending it in to Sony and suffering through Vita withdrawal for a whopping $129?

I get concerned with sites that employ Dr. Nick infomercial-speak for things like "FREE Pry Opening Tool Included".
I wouldn't trust myself to do that without fucking it up, or getting dust everywhere. I'd rather pay more and be able to shout at someone if it's not perfect. :p

Also, is that front plate an official Sony one?

EDIT: Uh oh, top of the page!

I've lost the last four evenings to VLR, the day needs to go quicker so I can get back home and find out how it all ends! I'm guessing most of the crazy fun and plot twists are ahead of me, even just going by what I've played so far I can't recommend this game enough :D

Can't see my evenings freeing up any time soon, once I'm done with VLR it's onto P4G...

I feel a bit of fatigue with VLR - i got almost all routes at some kind of lock and 4 endings already but still 1 or 2 escapes to do.

Ehh gamefaqs to the rescue and story+first Vita platinum will be mine :)

I'm at a similar point, think I've got 2 escapes left then it's time to work through the locks I was previously stuck at.

Just bought a new fresh Vita with Little Big Planet and Rayman Origins for 160€ :)
I guess that is a good price. I am excited :D I also have a gift card for another electronic shop so that I can buy an 8GB memoy card.

If I have bought Final Fantasy IX for the PS3, can I just copy it over to my Vita? I didn't replay it till now and just bought for my future vita. :x

And I am gonna sell my aqua blue 3DS with Tales of the Abyss and Kingdom Hearts for a few bucks... about 210 (DoA and Street Fighter are included too) should be okay, right? Everything looks clean as a whistle. Anybody who lives in germany can contact me ;-) just saying
Congrats! that is a good price for the VITA.

Hard to say. They're certainly representing it that way.

And given the choice above I'd rather pay more than that and just buy a new Vita and save myself the trouble of yelling at someone and/or doing without my system.

2:30hrs left for the FuturLab reveal!!

Amazon AT would sell the Vita + Little Big Planet + Assassins Creed for ~180€, now I am really tempted. I still have about 6 months PS+ left, does anyone know how long Uncharted will be available there? I must admit I did not follow the Vita at all - only read "no games" in a few threads.

Both Uncharted and Gravity Rush should be available on Plus for a while longer yet.

If you're wanting Uncharted/Gravity Rush off PSRS, you want to rent them NOW. They'll be out of the rental selection in a week or two.

Thanks for the information. The deail would be only valid today but I guess I wouldn't recieve the package until early/mid next week. I guess there is no way to pre-download Uncharted without a Vita?

You only need to "buy" it from a store(ps3, psvita or pc)

Really? I thought I have to had it downloaded already. Like if I still have PS+ but erased my memory card I can't redownload it. So I just buy it on my PS3 and can redownload it on the Vita even if it is not in the "free exclusives" anymore?

I gave Konami a rather harsh appraisal earlier in the thread. Kudos to them for correcting the SOTN mistake so fast. True to my word, I've bought it (for the third time). Still totally awesome.

yes.. as long as it is on your download list, you will be able to download it all the time (off course you have to be a plus member).

Gravity Rush finished, really good game despite my control issues and apparently slightly busted R button now. I hope they get to make a sequel.

I was pretty meh about this game.. good setting and style.. but gameplay wise it was bland and some of the controls felt really broken. If they make a sequel (99,9% sure they will), I really hope they refine the story and the controls..

As other guy said, just put them in your download list. You shouldn't even need a Vita to do this. Regardless, I believe they're advertised on the box of a bundle as "free games ps+" so I can't see them being taken down as long as the bundle is being sold.

thats pretty much the position I was describing. Just my back is supported by pollows and vita / hands resting on the leg thats up.

I have both knees up and rest my arms and Vita on my thighs. But I use 4 pillows! 2 behind me to support my back, and two either side to support my elbows so they are slightly elevated, otherwise my arms get tired.

And looks like I'm not the only one with a dodgy R button. It never fails to respond when clicking, but when you have to hold it, every obnce in a while it'll stop registering that i'm pressing it down for a while

I didn't really mind the controls once I got used to the gyro. I just want the combat to have more depth to it. All i ended up doing was Gravity Kicking everywhere bar the occasional enemy near the end that required Dodge Kicking while grounded

Yeah my ones like that too. Luckily with the PDP trigger grips I dont have the problem as it hit the button in the sweat spot.

God damnit. AC:L sequence 7 raft mission. ANYONE who knows how to get full synch on that one? 50% health, only melee + dont swim seems outright impossible.

Question for the aspect ratio nerds:

This is my first time playing SOTN. What ratio should I use? At the moment I'm using a custom one with it stretched to fill the screen. Does this make me some sort of unwashed heathen? I would like to appreciate the sprite art as intended.

My L Trigger is like that. I remember going for the Hostiles mode Trophies in Declassified and I could never keep my sights aimed down the entire time. There was a fix posted to help that involved tightening/loosening the screw behind the shoulder button.

the section when your "stamina" thing got drained all the time
the cat got drugged or something like that
really showed how broken the controls are..
and I think I only Gravity kicked most of the enemies, maybe once or twice I just stood still and mashed the attack button on the ground.

As intended would have to be original, but don't let anyone tell you how to enjoy the game. Try for a while with each of the settings and use what you prefer.

I hate it when my games don't fill the screen.

Controls definitely need to be tuned and I'd like more stuff to do in the free roam parts but I just enjoy flying around looking for gems. The last half of the game's missions were really fun.

Gotta be proactive on that mission. Once you get close enough to jump off the boat onto the stump and take the first guys out you have to rush ahead and deal with the others. Thankfully there are tree limbs and other stuff that stick way out to show an obvious path across the river.

Gravity Rush is so pretty. I really hope we get more devs actually pushing the Vita. It's such a glorious little piece of hardware when they do.

As an aside, I was looking at some NGS+ screens. I had forgotten how great that looked. TN still have it when it comes to graphics, at least.

It will probably just be an announcement that Velocity Vita is coming, but mam it would be nice to get some info/media. Still, the fact that this is coming anyway is amazing.

I dont think any launch game is pushing the console it came out on. Makes me curious to see how Bend for example improves on UC technically and graphic wise, though.

Eh, FuturLab always released some footage for their announced games so far. I doubt this is different, but we shall see :)

Even the announcement would be enough for me :)

An hour and 5 minutes til we find out, either way

Best part of the game by a mile. I couldn't bring myself to attempt many of the challenges, but I would gladly have hunted for all sorts of hidden doodads in the open environment.

Hm thanks, I always tried to hop back onto the raft, which didnt seem to work that well.

That mission was annoying for me because it's one of those ones that I complained about in my review where the game didn't feel like telling me all of the sync objectives. It only told me about the 50% thing so my very first action was shooting an enemy.

*objective failed*

Then the next time through I was trying to get back to the boat and the traditionally glitchy and not precise AC controls made me miss an easy jump and fall in the water.

*objective failed*

>.<

Yeah, I am VERY annoyed by the games lacking function of looking up mission objectives. Just put it in the menu as additional information for the DNA you are on atm! But noooo.

Even so, a lot of Vita games are looking like higher res PSP and PS2 games. There probably aren't even ten games on the system yet which push it (To the extent that we've seen it pushed to, at least).

I guess it's partly just the way it's gone with handhelds though. Most 3DS games are similarly unimpressive from a technical perspective.

So many VITA ports but this game probably never be ported it seems

I'd rather ask about M2 reporting those. Backbone on the box ensures that I will never buy that version of the collection there.

Believe it or not, the PS3/360 collection is the better of the collections/emulations, the PSP collection has some major problem with physics, to where games like Sonic 2 are unplayable. It's a shame too because I LOVE Genesis games and I have it on my Vita, but certain games are unplayable because of that :\

Fun fact - the standalone Genesis games that were released on PSN (that had arcade versions) are the actual arcade versions, not the Genesis versions. The easiest way to tell is the music ;)
