I'm going to buy Halo 5, people are quick to criticise 343, but this was their first game and frankly, it could have been worse. It could have been a lot worse.

Take out Join-in-progress. That shit does not belong in a Halo game!

O and please stop matching me with bad teammates. I thought this game was suppose to match you with people with a similar skill level as you...

Actually, I've noticed Halo 4 trueskill is pretty solid. I don't think I've seen as much guests, if any at all. I've had instances with shit teammates, but compared to Reach its been a huge improvement.

ME3 multiplayer > Spartan Ops

Oh no doubt. It was done by a different team to the story crowd but they pulled it off. Played this mostly over the summer. Free dlc was a monthly occurrence. Most of the maps were fun to play.

What do the bars at the bottom of each number mean?
Easy way of comparing your stats to the top player of the respective category in that match. The person with most kills has their Kills bar full, everybody else gets a proportionally filled bar as a comparison tool.

Truth be told, I really did not know that. I thought it was just for show.

Same

Try past year lol, I haven't stopped playing it since it came out pretty much.

I never thought a single player game could hook me again in the era of broadband gaming but Dark Souls managed it. My favourite game this gen along with Halo 3. 1000 GS it last month and have started a new build for the DLC. Didn't want to tackle the new bosses on NG++ lol.

My problem with people who latch onto graphics is that they focus on the most shallow thing about videogames. You can have all the high tech new stuff in there, but if the gameplay base is nothing more than big flashing light bulbs in your face stuff then why even praise it?

For example Uncharted, it’s a really gorgeous game and the characters are fully realized but the gameplay underneath it is just the most boring thing ever. Yet every review goes on and on about it being beautiful and neglects to say that you pretty much walk a straight line. Still I love the Uncharted franchise, but take away the graphics and nobody would give two shits about it. Which is a huge problem, mediocre gameplay systems get covered up by pretty graphics. Eventually all triple A titles will follow this route.

On a unrelated subject: check out (and pledge if you can) Radio the Universe (Zelda x Sci-fi).
I agree. I was actually going on in another thread a little while ago about how pretty much the only thing that Uncharted will be remembered for is the graphics. It excels at pretty much nothing else except for animations. I had a lot of fun playing Uncharted 2, but the gameplay was pretty forgettable, and as a result the multiplayer was sub par as well.

I could only remember one encounter from that game was memorable, and that was sniping from a tower close to the end of the game.

Scattershot = GoW Gnasher Shotgun

It's strange how similar they feel..
Uh, how so?

I'm not seeing the similarity in feel. I feel a more apt comparison is the Boltshot, how it devalues the rest of the sandbox and makes a lot of engagements a lot staler.

Every stat page should have bars on them, numbers aren't enough. I need a bar to help me understand how I did.

I actually spend most of my time on it doing co op and PvP. This is just as much of an online game as any other game, just have to learn all the confusing and complex systems surrounding the multiplayer, then you can really get into it.

It's one of the few neat little touches Waypoint has. It seems like they really tried to add visual elements to all the meaningful stats, and for me, that's the only one that really stuck...or maybe it's just the only one that's even comprehensible. The other big ones they tried are amazingly obtuse - I have literally zero idea what the K/D tab in a given Game History match actually means, it's just a bunch of unlabeled bars with no context, gametime or otherwise. Same for the Medal Distribution.

Ah. I thought that's what it was, but I couldn't see a bar filled up, then I realized it doesn't show all the players. Whoops!

I've had mixed experiences with PvP. A lot of really good, drawn out battles providing shouting moments of triumph but a few inevitable laggy backstabs along with bottomless box glitchers at lower levels (I think they patched that though?). Looking forward to trying out the new arena.

Recently found out gravelording only works on NG+ so gonna keep to this covenant and try it out next game. I've never even seen BP in my own games though I did once randomly get a 'gravelord has been defeated message'. Weird.

Those of you raving over Dark Souls, did any of you get to play Demons Souls too? If so, how do they compare?

Nope, gonna rectify that in the new year though.

I prefer the structure of Demon's Souls (a hub/spoke design with discrete levels rather than a continuous open world with zones), but at their core, the games are basically the same. They're two of my favorite games of the generation. Unapologetically systems-driven, a really incredibly well-done bleak, oppressive atmosphere, and they don't go out of their way to baby the player, all of which are traits I really admire especially given how rare those traits are in modern gaming.
