NFL Wild Card 2012 |OT| You Need An Ace In The Hole

lol, really? you played against a shit QB, how many times was someone running wide open and Webb never saw him? a real QB and the Packers probably lose tonight...
Any decent-tier QB's slopped all over them this year. Except Cutler, but he's Jay.

Not sure what to expect from Kap against them. Even so, the QB's they could face in challenging for a SB shot: Kap, Wilson, RGIII, and Cowardly Ryan. No great passers but still nothing as bad as the likes of Webb.

I never meant to say anything, but to me, after the first 2 or so good ones, it seemed you just went all Madden and drew circles wherever you could. Some of those had so little value that I started to scroll over them. That's my personal opinion and I don't mean to shit on your passion here.

Generally, I would welcome a football kinda-strategy thread, but there are two things that will happen there: There will be a jnc barrage at some point and you know it. And there isn't enough football knowledge around NFL Gaf for to feed it constantly with good material. So it will be 2-3 afficionados spamming it with gifs that make little sense because they are out of context... followed by a taco or something along those lines.

My 2 cents anyhow. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.

Edit: Grave, not cool man. It's morning for me and I see that shit... :/

Appreciate the response. Don't think the intent is for there to be any sort of experts and novices. Just people who want to learn more or discuss it beyond the taco stuff

Marrone is Schiano for me. Had never heard of either guy until he was a coaching candidate. Just don't follow Big East football. Syracuse fans are mad so I guess that's good.

There must be a discussion on the repercussions of the Swinging Gate formation in the thread somewhere.

Was this pointed at me? If so, there wont. I will never support the break up of the thread. This is like when South broke up from North(the people wanting a separate thread are the South in this scenario). On a serious note, you get what you make of the thread. Throwing your hands up like a girl and trying to make a elite thread won't solve anything.

I think you're overthinking the secession here.

So few people hop on the Seahawks bandwagon one can't help but feel that those who do are spies.

You kidding? Feels like everyone is on the Seahawks wagon lately.

Today should be great. Skins vs Hawks is a great matchup. Whichever QB has a better day will win it, I think. Seahawks have a more scary defense, but if Redskins can pressure Wilson like they did Romo and D Hall playing another good game, this could easily go either way.

And then PManning vs Colts. Was hoping to see this in regular season, so I'm super happy to see it in a playoff situation. Denver wins this, though. High pressure pass rush ability against Luck is gonna mean multiple interceptions.

I think he's saying the thread would devolve from the high-level talk at some point.

You don't think the Ravens have a chance at beating the Colts today?

The NHL Lockout is over!
In a presentation made by league executives to both the owners and the players on the eve of the lockout, a plan was laid out that explained how the league hoped to add $300 million in new revenues over the next three years. Initiatives like a stadium series of outdoor games would blend returns to traditional hockey markets like Chicago and Boston while expanding outdoor opportunities to other markets, perhaps coinciding with a national hockey moment like Hockey Weekend Across America. Revenues were expected to grow thanks to international events like a revamped World Cup of Hockey schedule, European markets, digital media and so on.

The message last summer was crystal clear: things are pretty good, so don't screw it up.

Shortly after that presentation, the league responded by locking out its players for the third time in commissioner Gary Bettman's tenure.

Take a moment at this point to bang your head on a door frame in disgust and dismay.

Now take two aspirins.
McDonald's (in the United States) was supposed to be a key NHL sponsor with an ad campaign tied to the Winter Classic, All-Star Game and other high-profile events but it moved on and signed a two-year deal with the NFL after the lockout started.

I hope they can recover from this lockout, but this league just ticks me off sometimes.......

NO MORE FOOTBALL FOR ME!

PEACE.

Hmm, I don't remember this Doug Marrone fellow. Good hire for the Bills?
Maybe? He did a decent job getting Syracuse football back to respectability, but it seems a bit of a leap going from the Big East and SU to the NFL. He does have prior NFL experience from the Saints and he's more offensive minded, so I guess that's good. I probably would have preferred Lovie Smith to fix the defense, but like with any college coach going to the NFL, Marrone could be a home run or a total bust.

The Doug Marrone hire is a little weird. He's the polar opposite of Lovie. I wonder if Smith was just their Rooney Rule guy. If not they were certainly baffled by which direction to go, offense or defense, which isn't the best sign in the world. Someone in that organization must have a vision right?

No! Take off that avatar! You're going to ruin our Super Bowl chances! Noooooooooooooooooooooo!

:jnc

It will all work out. Tapenade can't be stolen when it's given out for free. If we make it out of the divisional round Tapenade will indeed be given away in copious amounts.

When MrBob had a Texans avatar last year, Mech placed him on his ignore list, and thought he cursed the Texans. I honestly thought the Texans would win this week, if Mech wants to try and curse us for that he can certainly try.

Attention coaches looking for the fast road to success: the last two winners of the most prestigious bowl game in the country, the Pinstripe Bowl, have been hired to an NFL head coaching position following their wins.

The Bills had already supposedly interviewed Cardinals DC Ray Horton before Lovie, so I don't think that was just a Rooney rule thing. Its an interesting hire at the very least and on some level I'm glad the Bills went out on a limb and got new blood instead of just a retread like they have of late.

I think teams realize that it's impossible to keep a good offensive coordinator unless he is the head coach. Everyone wants offense and any even decent OC (McCoy) becomes a hot candidate. If Lovie could never hire a good OC in CHI, why would he in BUF? If AZ doesn't have faith in Horton to nail the OC hire, and they know him, then why should Buffalo have faith?

Sucks to be a defensive coordinator but that's not really a way to getting a HC job right now.

9 hour meeting yesterday with the Eagles and Lurie played the Vick card, he will be an Eagle for sure now. lol

9 hour meeting yesterday? Confirmed? Damn I wonder if they even make it to the 5 or so candidates they have lined up for interview.
I don't think anyone know what he's doing, and if he was for sure going to be a eagle I think he would of signed yesterday. We had a 7hr meeting and are meeting again today. Eagles are interviewing other coaches today while we meet with Chip. If Chip isn't my HC I'll go on a extreme rant. This song and dance is starting to make me alittle angry though

These are the Bills, there is no vision.

That press conference last week was a joke.

First half: "things are going to change around here!"

Second half: "Buddy Nix is staying."

What is your position?

Well...at least it's not Whisenhunt. I'll wait to see who is OC and DC are before forming a solid opinion, but Bills fans (including me) have been clamoring to try something new and not go with a retread coach and now that we have him, I think people are feeling some buyer's remorse.

He was involved with the Saints offense, and he turned a really shitty Syracuse program around. I'll give him a chance.

What has Syracuse really done to get their HC hired? They're not consistently bottom of the barrel anymore but they've been going back and forth from being a terrible team to a decent team.

The shame circle in me is about ready to give up and not expect him to come to Cleveland.

The whole offense/defense thing for a head coach is nonsense anyway. Get the best guy and hire the best coordinator you can on the other side of the ball. There are dozens of coaches throughout NFL history who have teams who defy their alleged expertise.

Bellichick is a defense guy, yet has coached an offensive juggernaut for a decade. Brian Billick was an offense guy, but coached a defensive juggernaut in Baltimore for years. Gruden was an offense guy, but won his ring with the defense-first Buccaneers. It goes on and on.

Owners hiring a head coach based on which side of the ball he has more experience with are on a fool's errand. Get the guy you think is the best guy to run your team. In that sense, the Marrone hire is a good one.

Yeah NFLN said the meeting yesterday wound up last 9 hours, and that was longer then orignially expected. He said that the Eagles really tried to sell Chip on the idea of Vick running his offense. I still think Chip is going to the Browns and that Lurie is just trying to drive the price up for Banner but we will see.

The buzz word in the NFL is "program builder". College coaches that either built up a bad program or restored a formerly good one are seen as guys who can execute a vision to restore a shitty NFL franchise

Jim Harbaugh is the modern archetype. Took shitty Standford and put a system in place that had them competing and winning in the PAC-10, then did the same with a crappy 49ers franchise

The "best guy available" isn't going to the Bills.

There nothing wrong with trying someone new, but say in instance a mountain of new guys best being at the top and you gotta walk up the mountain to get there. But you get bored and tired and settle for a middle guy. Seems to be what you've done here. Time will tell, but his success and failure hinges on the Bills ability to get a real QB. I guess that could be said for any coach you would of gotten
