CD Projekt looking for Witcher 3 publisher, Cyberpunk will have major marketing

If the game had to be exclusive to one platform, it should be PC. But thankfully (and perhaps unfortunately) it won't.

I'm just crying inside me that we won't be able to play this game this year, and we're only in January.

Maybe they found it a bad experience, maybe the old publisher does not want to anymore. We don't know.

If I remember correctly they got sued by their previous publisher because they removed the DRM on the PC version, so that's probably why they don't want to work with them again.

Namco really wasn't funding much of the game either. I think they want a lot more funding for this more akin to a traditional publishing deal.

Unfortunately it seems rare that today's traditional publishing deal benefits non-conventional and experimental game design :( I hope it doesn't affect CDPR.

One thing they have going for them is that they're already fairly successful and not too far off the mainstream in a lot of ways.

I mean Witcher 1 -> Witcher 2's evolution path already went from an isometric game (at launch) to a third person over the shoulder action game and they're hiring up a multiplayer team, so this doesn't really stick out as unsellable or missing checkboxes to me from a publisher's perspective.

That is true. I just hope a publishing deal doesn't reduce or exclude potential experimental additions to their games, akin to how FUSE lost its less gritty art style.

I'd rather have them focus everything on Cyberpunk

Why not both? That seems like an odd statement to make.

I honestly don't think that was EA, otherwise they would have never been willing to show the E3 trailer.

They even moved SSX to a more colorful direction and were willing to distribute Kingdoms of Amalur and give a small-moderate loan (a la what Namco did for The Witcher 2).

Dragon Age 2 was also allowed to go to some kind of hideous, less photorealistic look as well.

- Trailer represents the level of in-game graphics that they're aiming for.

Oh, I forgot to mention that according to CD Projekt CEO, Cyberpunk 2077 will be the first title in franchise (meaning there will be more Cyberpunk games later) and that's one of the reasons why they started teasing it so early ("to build brand awareness").

Mmm, some people said, but they actually hired/are hiring a team for Cyberpunk, so the cyberpunk team are fully focused on that and could never have been focused on anything else, they were brought on. It's two unique teams or it would have just been the witcher team doing witcher 3, there is no point here where the cyberpunk team are distracted/split focus.

That's how the teaser would look like if Cyberpunk 2077 was published by EA

Pretty good.

I actually had a talk about how some games just wouldn't happen under different publishers.

I mean could you imagion if EA was publishing Skyrim.

The Daedric quests would be retailer exclusive DLC. There would be some kind of shitty multiplayer, The guild quests would be day 1 DLC. The civil war story arch would only be available in the special edition....

Uhhhh.

Even though I upgraded this year I think I'll need another PC when this comes out. ;_;
