I'm up

Still expecting nothing new. Unless you consider virtual console new.

At least 10 minutes of the show will be Iwata slowly guiding us through the process of buying a virtual console game like we're fucking 2 year olds.

Exciting! It'd have to be something great to get me to buy a Wii U though, but I'll be hopeful! I can always hope for Pokemon U, right? :p

Part of me wants to hype.

But part of me knows it's going to be disappointing.

Which part should I trust?

Retro during a Zelda spin-off could be neat if Nintendo doesn't think it'd work out giving them a mainline title. Something like playing as Ganondorf as a young adult before OoT's events or that rumored Sheik idea they may have had could both be a breath of fresh air for the franchise and a chance to get them to spread their wings more.

I'd rather have them making a new IP that would be the offspring of Perfect Dark & Metroid Prime (along with some other new stuff). Something along those lines is what they need.

Basically I'm looking for brand-new, potential tentpole IPs from Retro & Monolith Soft from their new titles (not that I'm expecting both to be completely revealed in a hour)

I'd give up any other Nintendo title announcement for a true sequel to Metroid Prime on the Wii U, made by Retro.

I'm not keeping my hopes up though, such an announcement would probably be best suited for E3.

This would be a major mistake. Gamers and press would of course be super excited and euphoric - but Nintendo would not have any surprise or big announcement for E3. And they need some mind-blowing stuff there to make sure that not everyone will just talk about PS720.

My guess for today is that they will mainly show off already announced games and services (Pikmin, TW101, Virtual Console, Google Maps, Panorama View, etc.). They may show one or two games which we don't officially know yet (Yoshi's Land, etc.). I don't think that we will see anything from Monolith, EAD Tokyo or Retro today. Smash Bros. or Animal Crossing would be the best thing which could possibly happen.
This is all people will talk about regardless of what Nintendo has to show. It is the nature of new console reveals.

I hope Cheesemeister is doing live translations even if all the Directs end up being the same. I can't watch any of them, but I'd love to read a live blog sort of thing.

Oh, wow. The Wii U japan sales number in the latest media create thread are terrible. This ND needs to have some solid news.

Even if they just announce Yoshi Land and anything Metroid or EAD 3D Mario related, my hype will have been met. I would say Zelda, but I just don't think it's time yet for a new one of those, seeing as we just got Skyward Sword just a bit over a year ago now. I do expect a new 3DS Zelda by E3 though.

Really hoping we get some big news since I made a point to get up to watch this. Would be happy with some VC news, system update news, and a new game.
