OK boys and girl now for the really BIG question will it be Nintendo of Europe or Nintendo of America that do the translation?

Even more importantly, who'll be doing the dubbing? Xenoblade sounded pretty good. Maybe the Europeans should do it again.

This game and development team are absolutely godly. Give them all the money / time they deserve Nintendo, even if they make losses on the games they are adding to your game portfolio in an incredible way.

I'm lucky in that I played Xenoblade via Dolphin instead of on my Wii. Made a huge difference in the visuals.

I unfortunately did not have that available to me because my PC was for all intents and purposes dead then :(

Played it on the Wii, loved the game and the scale but damm that graphical difference was jarring at times even for the Wii.

Makes me even more excited now thinking what Retro and EAD's games could look like on the WiiU.

Xenoblade was awesome and this game looks great. I assume the game being shown in this NoA Direct means US release is for certain.

I think that is a fair assumption considering they have cut games from the NoA direct feed before that they had no plans of localizing at the time.

Going from amazing to spectacular

Very lateral move so I don't think anyone will be disappointed.

I'm not a big fan of Swano honestly. He's a very "big sound" type of composer, with blockbuster sounding music which works well for mainstream stuff with lots of action. It definitely lacks the sort of depth that Mitsuda brought to Xenogears. Shimomura also has a very keen ear for how to make great RPG sounding music based around feelings and character/location themes rather than drama. Going from Shimomura to Sawano is a lot like going from Mitsuda to Kajiura for the later Xenosaga games.

I know this is really minor nitpicking, but it bothers me somehow. The lakes surface is just too flat and static, and there's also a rather sharp corner in the shoreline that looks really odd. Otherwise it looks lovely, if a bit desaturated.

Now that you point it out, that corner is terrible.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Monolith Soft have draw distances under their thumb.

I agree, I'd like to see more vibrancy as well but Monolith Soft has time.

This guy is simply awesome! If he is at his best with this game, I'm hoping more people around the world will like him too. He's been working on J-Dramas, live-action movies, and anime in Japan until now. I'm EXCITE!!!

Composer is Hiroyuki Sawano, best known for his great work on Sengoku Basara (anime) and Gundam Unicorn :

I'm more bother by how the character just teleports into the mech. It will probably be fixed though.

A lot of the screens seem to be set at sunset, which may explain the look a bit. I do agree that Xenoblade looked more vibrant and this looks more typical "next gen." That said it still looks awesome.

Bravo, Nintendo. Xenoblade is one of my favorite Wii games (I really should finish it one of these days). Box = checked.

This has probably been asked 2,493,291 times, but is there any word on a localization?

Trailer was shown in the NA and EU Direct so its guaranteed.

I feel the problem for me is less of whether Swano is a good composer or not, but what choosing him as a composer means for the tone of the game. Takahashi is very specific in his use of music. A large departure in style usually means it is reflected in the game. This might mean that X is going to be a far less subtle and more in-your-face sort of RPG with more action, a more visceral tone, etc.

Fantastical

Death Prophet
Does this game take place on Mars? Why are the colors so washed out and gray? Kinda reminds me of Red Faction Guerilla.

Then again, Xenoblade had a ton of variety in its environments so maybe I'm just nitpicking at this point. ;)

One of my favorite screenshots from playing it on Dolphin:

I'll be happy not to need Dolphin this time around to make the game look good graphically, though. Nit picks aside, it looks pretty gorgeous.

Regarding the whole UFO thing - and this is just me walking around in the dark - I was thinking that the "humans" were the aliens who've crash-landed on a a primitive alien planet or something similar given the technological contrast displayed in the trailer.

Leave neogaf for a few hours then come back to this. I just shit, pissed, came and cried simultaneously. Just imagining the same sort of world xenoblade had but looking like this AND pilot-able mechs. I need to ly dow.

He's capable of quieter stuff too, but yeah, it's pretty obvious where the game's coming from.

Mechs and Monster Hunter-ish battles gives this a pretty neat flare. Watched it again and find myself really wanting to play this. The visuals are not magnificent or anything, but they are definitely pleasing. Love the environment and music especially. There is a real sense of awe and adventure there.

I only got Xenoblade two weeks ago. I am a huge RPG fan, and I have to say that, put simply, it is one of the best JRPGs I've ever played. The story is amazing, the music is awesome, the battle system is deep (imo), and I love the sense of exploration.

I was hoping once JRPGs became fully 3D they would also become more open-ended. Square failed me with FFX, which was a good game but extremely linear. Skies of Arcadia, on the other hand, was flawed but was amazing to play because of the exploration elements.

My point is, Xenoblade is what I have always wanted JRPGs to be. And for that very reason alone, I have full confidence in Monolith Soft. This game looks great, and I believe that it will be amazing to play. I just found my reason to buy the Wii U.
