Rarest Game You Own?

I have a new in shrink copy of REmake that I've never played, I've never even owned a Gamecube. I should probably get on that, though it's probably not rare or worth that much it to others it is to me.

Probably MGS1 on the pc. Complete with box and booklet.

Unrelated MGS2: Substance PC.

I also have a 3-in-1 pack of Falcon 4.0, Apache Havoc: Enemy Engaged and M1 Tank Platoon 2. But I didn't save the box they came in, which is too bad because they go for 300 dollars now.

Interesting that Gitaroo Man has dipped. The first print is distinguishable too.

Snagged it along with R.A.D., Okage, Tsugunai, RECVX for the GameCube, and a couple others at one of those $5 Circuit City sales back in 2004. It was incredible.

I know US copies still go for decent money but the EU THQ published ones don't even sell at £8 or less just looking on eBay now.

Yeah, strong logic there. I just hate the process of selling things, and only do it when it's simple like a code or something, and even then, I feel slightly sleazy about it for no good reason.

Yeah I don't like selling stuff either. I have a friend who runs an ebay business for a living so I usually have him do it for me. =P And yeah I guess your conscience is to good for you. lol. But I understand. I think if you sell it as an auction it's not as bad cuz you're not forcing anyone to spend $400 or whatever. Just enough people wanted to beat eachother out to get it. Buy now at $400 would be the true sleazy way.

The best sealed stuff I have aside from all the PS2/GCN era stuff:

Super Smash Bros. (N64)
Zelda: OOT (N64) - this is the Collector's Edition, first print run
Giga Wing 1/2 (DC)
Boktai (GBA)
Final Fantasy 3 (SNES)
Chrono Trigger (SNES)

I guess FF3?. Would probably have been Ogre Battle 64 if I wasn't stupid and traded it...

I also owned Panzer Dragoon Orta at one point... Sigh

Burning Rangers, Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and Earthbound, for me.

Misadventures was a damn nightmare to get, but I lucked on a mislabeled eBay listing a few years back for around $45. Earthbound I have two copies of: One complete with the guide and box that I've had since childhood, and another I a saw by chance at Goodwill for 65 cents.

I wish I still had Megaman Legends 2, though. The prices for that seem to always get higher and higher...

I don't have many rare games. I did have Disgaea before they reprinted it and I bought Persona 3 on release, but they reprinted the fuck out of that.

My friend though has a boxed Earthbound with guide, Chrono Trigger, and SMRPG from his childhood. Earthbound is his favorite game and he's a Mother fanatic, so he'll never part with it.

I'm not sure if Final Fight/Final Fight Guy are rare but I have both. (Snes)
Team Buddies (PS1)
Chrono Trigger SNES (Really isn't that rare but hey what the hay)
Starcraft 64 (With Box)
Final Fantasy VII (Black Label)

My brother has a ton of japanese games that I have no idea what they are. I bet some of those offer some rarity.

Persona 3 vanila with the soundtrack and artbook goes for quite a lot.

Some dumb golf game on 64DD is probably the most expensive one lol, not sure if its rarest.

I still need Doshin 2 to complete my 64DD set, need to go to Japan to get one not rip-off price though. :(

Bust a Groove 2 and Valkyrie Profile for the PSX. Both in really good condition, with manuals and everything. A huge part of me wants to put them up on Amazon for a couple hundred bucks, but I still really, really like playing BaG2. And for whatever reason, the timing required for the game can't be emulated.

I don't really have any rare games. Soul Bubbles is probably the rarest I own, cause I imagine the print run wasn't all that large to begin with.

That's probably it. Now if we were going to my anime collection. That would be a whole other story.

That´s rare? I seriously had no idea, I have Raidou 1 opened and a sealed Raidou 2 good to know they´ve more than kept their value.

I have other sealed games, but I don´t think they´re worth much: Xenosaga Ep III, Devil Summoner 2 first print, Final Fantasy VIII PS1 black label, and a sealed Galactic Pinball for Virtual Boy.

EDIT. Yeah I don´t think I really have anything rare in my collection, as in low production run or limited availability.

Expensive doesn't mean rare. I think a lot of people are getting the two a little confused.

I have most of the games that have been mentioned in this thread and very few would classify as rare.

I don't know if I own any games that is really rare, definitely have some sought after/expensive titles though.

Under defeat dreamcast limited edition
Dracula x rondo of blood
Earthbound
Suikoden 2
Megaman Legends 2
The Dark Spire
Dungeons & Dragons Collection
Segagaga

Probably more. I definitely agree that rare and expensive are used interchangeably.

edit: Looking back through the topic I see people are posting game related merchandise as well. In that respect the rarest thing I own is definitely Yoshitaka Amano The Sky. Soundtrack wise I own an original print bahamut lagoon soundtrack and several Insanity naked hunter superplays which seem pretty rare.

Stop looking at Amazon. Those prices are way inflated. Mega Man Legends 2 completed listings are about $40-$60 complete on eBay. That's not really that much. Certainly not when you can legitimately spend $250 to $300 for Panzer Dragoon Saga or $150 on Radiant Silvergun or $200 on Misadventures of Tron Bonne.

I understand that might seem like a lot to someone who doesn't own anything rarer, but it's really not unreachable. It's one full priced modern game.

As for me... I've found out a few things I have are more valuable than I knew... M.U.S.H.A. for Genesis, the aforementioned Tron Bonne... so this thread has been helpful that way. I have lots of stuff that has held it's value or is worth more than I paid originally, which is nice. Some highlights...

Cosmic Smash (Dreamcast)
Ikaruga (Dreamcast)
Napple Tale (Dreamcast)
Bunch of other Dreamcast games.
Large assortment of SEGA Saturn games.
Some Genesis games.
Pretty much all my Neo Geo AES collection.

The stuff that's really interesting to me is the curiousities that I've found along the way that you simply don't see available on eBay often. For example, I have Freespace 2 for PC... on DVD. It was a Euro release. It's one disc. I have maybe seen it listed once on eBay. It's a truly rare item. Of course, you can buy and download the game for $5.99 from GOG.com, but this thing is unique. Maybe not worth much? I don't know.

I also have a conversion of Neo Turf Masters for AES on the Neo Geo. Conversions rarely fetch a lot because no one really knows the value of something like that, however this one is a conversion of a game that's print run was so low on AES that it's definitely "valuable". Is it worth $300? $3000? I don't really know. It's fun to play it, though. :)

I still have my copies of 7,8,9 with the original black side label (opened of course). Kind of crazy how a sealed copy of 7 has gained status as a collectors item with how available it is.

AW YEEEEAAAAAAHHHHH. This game was the bees knees. My friends and I got out one of their copies a year or so ago, still as fun as always.

OT: I think right now my rarest game would have to be my copy of Super Mario RPG, boxed up and everything. My local used game store had a mint copy for $89.99 last time I stopped in.

Fallout 3 is the Austrian version (German language, but uncut), so it's quite rare. Also glad about my Hanafuda cards by Club Nintendo and signed copies of Pro Evolution Soccer (Seabass visited gamescom in 2010).

I used to have a copy of Swordquest Waterworld, but I sold it because it blows. That was probably my most collectible.

Now I don't have anything too crazy collectible. Border Down and Under Defeat LEs.

Of course, actual rarity is another matter. I do have some very rare games like CyberVirus or Zaku, but they're not valuable because they can be had easily.

I suppose Suikoden 1 & 2 on the PS1; though, I wonder which are rarer, the PAL or NTSC versions of the game. I bought the NTSC versions for £35 and £45 respectively, probably sometime during 2003-04.

Probably Dragon View for the NES.

Though I do have the Collectors Edition Demon's Souls...Probably my favorite of the "games" I own.

Twin Snakes, selling it 'cause I anticipate Nintendo will release it on WiiU and decimate the value. But mostly 'cause it's just an awful game.

Couple hundred bucks for most of them on eBay. Some go for higher than that if you have the box and guide. I still have one at my parents house somewhere in storage.

Sweet

I think I got a copy of Mega Man X2 and X3 carts lying around somewhere too. I know I have Twin Snakes but it's not sealed =/
