"There is a magical operation of maximum importance..."
Fun fact: The whole text in the beginning is quoting Aleister Crowley.

A lot of "hardcore" fans really criticized the games after the original Blood Omen. They really didn't like the direction the Soul Reaver games and the other LoK games went and a lot of them blamed it on the fact that Amy Hennig wasn't involved, or much involved, with the sequels.I had completely forgotten that, or perhaps blocked it from my memory.

Only thing I remember is that the only game that wasn't as concrete was BO2. (As in story elements and plot aspects)
So they worked around the stuff that happened in there with SR2 and LoK

No it wasn't.
If I recall correctly, BO 2 is supposed to be an "alternate timeline". So, it's not canon, as far as the main storyline's concerned.

The original Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen is the pinnacle of the series. The world of Nosgoth and all these psychotic alchemists were truly something else. I don't think it is even possible to design a better character than Kain.
The Soul Reaver series unfortunately failed to build on Nosgoth much from an aesthetic perspective and in actual plot development. However, it did an amazing job at telling a direct story between Kain, Raziel, the unspoken. With that said, while Soul Reaver 1 had a cool intro, I don't think it had much else working for it. Sould Reaver 2 on the other hand, was a decent game, but it had the absolutely fantastic dialogue that might never be matched in a video game.
Let's hope they don't force a regenerating health mechanic on this one aswell, but after what they did to Lara I'm not getting too excited yet.

That mechanic has already been in multiple LoK games.
Haha, I'm thinking that some people need a refresher on Legacy of Kain games!
As an aside, aren't they all on sale on GoG at the moment?
As much as I loved the Soul Reaver games, the original Blood Omen was the best. It was the most like Zelda and had TONS of secrets. There were secrets being found in BO many years later. I don't think another game of its kind had so many well kept hidden secrets, especially in regards to locations as BO did.The original Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen is the pinnacle of the series. I'm a fan, but I can't see how they can introduce new players into this franchise without having to do a reboot.

I stand corrected. So not true: " In the late 1990s, she moved to Crystal Dynamics, where she assisted Silicon Knights in the development of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain. Later, she acted as the director, producer, and writer for Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. She also directed and wrote Soul Reaver 2 and Legacy of Kain: Defiance."
I stand corrected.
It's been a few years but I remember people complaining about how the sequels were not as good as the original and from what I remembered, they were pointing to Hennig. Perhaps I was thinking of something else. Like I said, it's been years since then back when there was a website called the Nosgothic Realm where I remember hearing a lot of the complaints.
I wish I could remember why they were complaining about how the sequels were not as good as BO. Maybe they were blaming it on another writer or whatever. But like I said, my apologies and I stand corrected.
Poor writing. I wish Crystal Dynamics could borrow Amy Hennig from Naughty Dog for a bit, just to do this game.
Yes because Uncharted 3 had such a great story. I do love the Uncharted games but the stories have gotten worse with each release, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune's story is truly great. 2's was somewhat entertaining but flawed (especially towards the end) and 3's was pretty much a disaster with potential.
As far as I remember, atleast in SR1/2 it wasn't. There was negative health regen, you had to devour souls or you would shift overtime.
Cory Barlog right? God of War 2 is the best action game I've ever played.
I'd flip out. No two ways about it.
I'd also love for them to re-record it. I know it's meant to sound grotty, but imagine if the choir was real, for example, instead of synth.
Oh man, and just hearing Simon Templemanas a part of the announcement with a Visual Works trailer for it, it would be simply insane.and perhaps Michael Bell, depending how the story goes

Totally gonna be a Barlog joint.
It's not.
I take it this is supposed to be an insider post or something? ...
