Best controller ever made!!!!!!!!
Does it transform?

I have no idea how people can make the current sticks get close enough to knock thumbs, but the space between them is now even wider for those people.

I don't understand all this hate against people who apparently "can't hold the controller" correctly. How would you know? It might be a legitimate problem for the person. A "one size fits all" controller only caters towards the majority, so I can see it being an actual problem. These tactless responses are lame as hell.

Analogue is another form for Analog

The key is they claim it's from Sony Computer Entertainment America. They wouldn't use the UK English spelling.

It's all about how you hold the controller and position your thumbs. If you use the "ball" of your thumbs (where the bend is) then your thumbs collide. If you use the tips of your thumbs, they won't. Same with people who claim the control doesn't "fit" their hands correctly. If you hold it with the "pads" of your hands (right below where your fingers extend) then it fits fine. But if you palm it (closer to where your thumbs are) then it can be uncomfortable.

Personally, I have no issue changing the way I hold the controller when going back and forth from Dualshock to Xbox but some people don't want to bother with it. /shrug

No more analog buttons? :(
Why remove such an awesome feature?

Sony buckling down on Nintendo's trends yet again. Nintendo says analogue buttons are uncool and removes them from the Wii-U controller, Sony follows...

Actually, considering that very few developers ever used them, I don't think they will get missed that much. Hopefully they will re design the shape of those horrible L and R triggers though.

Headphone jack of some sort?

3D0 controller innovation lives on :p

But this might make sense for microphone headsets.

I'm still dreaming of a controller that:

  • Can be separated into two parts
  • Has the inertial sensors in both halves with a built-in low latency filter that helps correct errors
  • Can somehow act as a pointer with the added benefit of using the analog sticks/buttons
  • Can allow you to use the touch pad on both halves that is click-able

Does no analog face buttons mean no short hops?

Or is that just the duration the button is pressed, and not pressure sensitivity?

The controller looks fine to me. I'm a bit sad about the loss of analogue buttons though :/

I don't think they can be ruled out yet. The VGLeaks post listing the face buttons as digital was a pretty quick 'n dirty rundown of things, not necessarily exhaustive and detailed. Heck, most people forget that the Sixaxis and DualShock 3 have analog buttons, so it's an easy enough mistake to make.

I guess. I was hopeing for full ps2 bc as the ps4 should be powerfull enough for it, but without analogue buttons it might not happen.

It shouldn't be just "fine", I have to take breaks every now and then when playing with a DS3 because of how uncomfortable it is to hold for me because I like to hold my controller firmly in my hands. When I switched from PS2 to 360 it was like night and day on how good the controller felt in my hands. If the PS4 controller will look similar to this prototype then I'm probably going to like it way more than the previous ones since it looks better suited for bigger hands with the small increase in size.
