Destiny Reveal Thread

This scene looked great.

The only thing that sounds stupid is that it will launch on the old consoles too. They will probably cripple the game because of this.

When they first showed Halo they showed a long gameplay demo, showing off the world, the shooting mechanics, and the sale.

When they first showed off Destiny, they talked to us about how great it was for 5 minutes and then showed 5 seconds of middling graphics.

I'm seriously annoyed right now.

I can't be the only one that pretty much gives up on current gen as soon as next gen is unveiled, can I?

I hope this game comes out on the next gen consoles also, otherwise I probably won't be playing it.
How many people own 360s/PS3s right now? 100+ million or something?

Ps4/720 will sell, what, maybe 10-20 million combined in the first year? (just an uneducated guess).

No you're not the only one but the thinking that it's pointless to release games for consoles towards the end of their life is wrong. That's when the userbase is at it's peak and the developers have had time to learn how to take full advantage of the console.

Lots of people would rather buy a great game for the console they already own than spend hundreds of dollars on a new console to play the same, slightly better looking game.

I'm sure the game will be good but holy hell did that trailer deflate what little hype I had.

Would have been better if they didn't show the snippets of gameplay. I hope that's still very, very early stuff. Looks ungood, looks very ungood.

At least it seems to have nice art even if turns out to be graphically underwhelming =/

Because it's not worth our time to have them hype us up to just explain basic Sci-Fi shooter/mmo vagueries. "This game has multiple races and faction and you shoot things!" Yeah, no shit. Tell us something we didn't know.

Well actually none of us knew there were multiple races and factions until around 8 hours before the reveal.

Lol maybe it's because I'm not invested into the Halo series at all, but that looked pretty cool. Can't wait to see more.

Why does it look like an Xbox 360 game? We know it's going to be on next gen consoles. Why the hell wouldn't you show us the best looking version?

I hate replies like these, it's all about the graphics? Go watch Avatar. The scope and ambition for Destiny is something special, who gives a damn about the textures in an early version of the game then? Give me a break.

Surprise: Visuals matter to people! They're a huge part of the whole package!

I wonder when people are going to stop acting like it's a huge shock that the thing you'll be staring at for 40 hours needs to look nice for many (most?) people.

So, we went from massive anticipation to "yo those pre-alpha shots of the current gen version look bad"? Totally ignoring all of the other details of the game? The scope? The ambition?

Holding out hope for a PS4/720 announcement when both consoles are formally announced.

Interested to see where this is going none the less.

If this is what they're going to put out though, then they should wait.

And ignoring the quality of the graphics we didn't get any actual feel for gameplay, combat, enemies, etc. We know precious little beyond what we already knew. Hardly exciting for a the "big reveal" for the game. And promises of this big crazy open universe and everything is great, but nothing at all like what Halo was which is all Bungie has done for almost 10 years so they need to prove to me they can actually deliver on that.

It's got a really convoluted premise. Humanity explores the world only to find Earth has taken? Lol I think that's it anyway.

Underwhelming reveal. Although the concept sounds interesting, similar to Planetside.

Other than always online and Sci-Fi MMO Shooter this doesn't sound like Planetside at all. This looks to be a logical expansion of the Halo experience (single-player and multiplayer).
