You can start the download and then cancel it. It will be in your Download List afterwards. I'm guessing they got a lot of complaints about having to add to cart to download and so on, so they added this instant-download button when you 'buy' it.

Uh, it was never that way... There was always the download button for a while now but it also had the add to cart button. This just makes it a colossal pain in the ass with the slow ass UI to "buy" the new games.

Oh, really? I thought people were pretty annoyed at how you'd have to go through several menus to purchase anything when this new store first came about and this change happened because people were pretty vocal about how it was annoying to have to add to the cart first before downloading.

BTW, is there a reason why the store is so slow? Sometimes I swear it takes a minute to just stop showing that progress bar.

If may have been in the past but for a while now there was a download button right under the add to cart button. Now there's just the download button and nothing else for whatever reason.

Hello PSN+'rs

So I'm purchasing a Vita for the first time later this evening (the assassins creed bundle because, white, yum) anyway, it comes with a 4gb card as I'm sure you know.

I want to sign up for psn+ to take advantage of the free game offers. What can I realistically get away with given I only have 4gigs to work with? How does that work. Do I download 1 game at a time and basically have to beat it before downloading the next because of size constraints? Are games even that big where I have to worry?

Also, what is Sony's justification for their freaking SD cards and prices?

the uncharted game is around 3gb, gravity rush is around 1.5, megaman x is like 400mb, plants vs zombies is like 100mb and I don't recall the rest.

you can fit a few of the smaller games or uncharted and a tiny game. If you have a ps3 you can just store the games on the ps3 and transfer them over, otherwise you could always download them to the vita, and then transfer them to the pc and change up games when you need (if your PC uses wifi you can transfer over wifi)

tl;dr; it will be painful with 4gb and plus

as for their justification first off they aren't sd cards, they are their own format, second off it supposedly has piracy protection on it... basically you are paying for the unique format... it sucks but it's what they went with.

Not much to be honest. You can see the sizes of some of the launch games here.

It really depends on the game. If you don't want to focus on a single game at a time then you could backup the game to a PC/Mac before deleting it from your Vita. Save games are unfortunately tied to the game icon. Removed that and you'll lose everything.
Also, what is Sony's justification for their freaking SD cards and prices?
Two things. They want to prevent piracy and they want to earn some money since they're losing money on the actual system.

The memory cards = a result of too much pirating when they used Memory Sticks, I imagine. With that said though, they do cost way too much. :( 100 dollars for 32GB? >_> What is this, 2001?

And the 4GB card should be fine for more than a few games unless they're graphic intensive... in that case you'd only be able to get one or MAYBE two games at a time. 4GB is absolutely not enough for anyone. I wish they'd have bundled the 8GB with their Vita bundles :/ I remember back when the PSP initially had a 32MB Duo... so useless. Some things like Wipeout and Gravity Rush are about a gig and a half or Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ is 2 gigs... oi. For now though, it'd be nice for test driving a game or two before you upgrade to another card if you have unlimited data for downloading. I have an 8GB one right now which is pretty nice, but I'm waiting for a sale to happen before I get a 16/32.

Looking at the sizes of all the free Vita games so far...

PvZ Vita - 70MB
Ninja Gaiden Sigma+ - 2127MB
Foosball - 134MB
Chronovolt - 262MB
Retro City Rampage Vita - 29MB
Gravity Rush - 1453MB
Wipeout - 1635MB
Jet Set Radio - 1098MB

Hmmm Ok...

I'm just spit balling since I have zero Vita experience but what would this involve. Downloading it 100% on the vita then transferring it via wifi or the USB cable over to the PS3/computer? Then when I want to play that game I wipe out whatevers on my card and go to the PS3/computer and drop it over? Is there a way to do that with saves? I have some saves of psn games on my PS3 that I would also like to bring over to the Vita if that's possible.

Crap I'm going to need a bigger card arent I

Yep, that's pretty much it. I've only used it for transferring wallpapers and other smaller things.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing no.

I got a 16 GB memory card and so far it has been enough for my needs. If I went digital only then I would have gotten a 32 GB card.

Edit: On my 16 GB memory card I currently have:
3 PSV games
9 PSN games.
4 PSP games.
1 PS Minis.
1 PS1 classic.
5 apps (plus all the system apps).
7 game data files for my retail cartridges.

Alright well I suppose I'll just pony up for one as well.

I have quite a few PS1 classics I want to transfer over so I'll keep them (and hopefully their saves) on my 4gb with PSN games and keep my new 8 or 16gb solely for PSV games. It's just a matter of flopping one card out for the other, right? I don't have to do any cutsie things?

Edit:

Hmmm Ok I just saw that with a Vita you get 1GB of cloud storage for saves. So I'll try to get my PS1 classic saves from my PS3, put it locally on my Vita, then try to xfer them to the cloud. Now I won't have to worry about losing saves when I swap games out from between my PC/PS3/Vita. I might just go 8gb then.

Wario64

works for Gamestop (lol)
Now's not the time for free BioShock 1. Infinite comes with it.

Had 2 people on Twitter guess Spec Ops and Max Payne 3

Maybe fighting game is Mortal Kombat

The Cave for PSN game? Would it be that quick? "famous video game luminary responsible for putting that game together, fairly recently released"

Killthee

helped a brotha out on multiple separate occasions!

Safe bet on Disgea 3 for the Vita strategy game. It's the only one on there isn't it? Unless we get another psp strategy game.

Fucking awesome. Now SCEA needs to update the store during the day and enable remote downloading to my PS3.

One the cooler promised features of the PS4, in my opinion. There might not be any exclusives or games I can't play on my current consoles at launch, but I might just get a PS4 day one anyway if all those cool features work.

PSN game is a recent released game

Also sounds like they will put out the entire reveal as a monthly batch

You can listen to the blogcast around 13-15 minutes if you want to hear the clues

Good work.

"Critically acclaimed shooter," "very much turned the world on its head in terms of what to expect from a shooter"
Spec Ops is a good choice here. Only other things I can think of are Bioshock (might be, with Infinite coming, and 2K having some Plus support in the past), Borderlands, and Call of Duty 4. I'm going with Bioshock.

"Fighting Game." Mortal Kombat is my guess, but also maybe Dead or Alive 5, since EU is getting it.

"Strategy RPG series to the Vita." Valkyria Chronicles 2?

"Famous writer, luminary of the games industry, relatively recent release." Yup, The Cave.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
They wouldn't have Bioshock as a PS+ game, since the PS3 version of Infinite comes with Bioshock if you preorder. That'd piss off a lot of preorderers, I'd think.

The shooter could be a Mass Effect or Dead Space game, or even Resident Evil 4. I think it's Spec Ops, though.

There are a lot of fighting games on PSN. Tekken, Persona 4 Arena, Arcana Hearts 3, Mortal Kombat, DoA 5...battle fantasia...

Strategy RPG is probably Disgaea 3 if it's actually a vita game, but, if it's a psp game, then there are a ton to choose from.

Last game is obviously The Cave.

Bioshock 1 comes free with Infinite so would be kind of weird they would put that up, but I guess it might happen.

Edit:beaten^

why doesn't everyone think the shooter is bulletstorm? It was already given for free in EU, on the US store with a discount, definitely turned the genre "on it's head".
