Anyone want a Puzzle Bots key?

Edit: Opinions on Gemini Rue and Resonance?

I finished Resonance the other day (a fellow gaffer, INDIGO_CYCLOPS, gave me a key he had, thanks dude!).

I think it has a very interesting plot and brings something new to the genre. There's a memory system that lets you basically use evey single clickable thing or person in conversations, i.e.: At some point you need to ask a security expert if you can breach the police's archive in order to get some documents you need, so you drag the archive's main computer to your inventory, save it and then you can use it when you talk to the security expert to ask him about it.

However, since I like to get every achievement in every game I play, I absolutely hate the scoring system. You get points performing various actions, and they are only used to get an achievement, but there are a couple of things you need to do that I don't tink most people would figure out without a guide (for example,
you need to ask a janitor the keys to a maintenance room. You get three points if you give them back to him after using them, but the guy doesn't tell you that he wants them back and you have to go back a couple of rooms to see him again
). There are also two very difficult optional puzzles, I needed to take notes in order to solve them, but I guess that's nice.

If you don't care about achievements, it's mostly great. I wouldn't call it the best game from Wadjet Eye yet because I thought that the characters had no chemistry whatsoever and their interactions were lacking, but everything else is pretty good. I would have probably liked it more if I didn't have to beat it twice in order to get the last achievements I was missing :p

As for the Puzzle Bots key, if you still have it I wouldn't mind checking it out... Besides Primordia, it's the only Wadjet Eye game I haven't played yet.

Agreed on the Asylum > City opinion. I'm playing through City right now, and it's fun, but it hasn't captured the same highs as Asylum did. I don't really like the open world nature.

A friend who never played any of the Ass Creeds was interested in the sale and I told him AC2 and Bro are "must haves" while AC1, Rev and AC3 are "only if you're a fan". I actually enjoy PC AC1 for a variety of reasons, but even if you overlook the repetitiveness it feels dated and janky. He decided to buy AC2 for now and was a bit worried about being able to follow the plot by skipping 1. Its been a while but if I recall correctly the games do a good job of getting newcomers up to date, and it's nothing a quick look on Wikipedia can't solve. Hope he enjoys it, AC is one of my favorite series this gen and even at its worse it manages to provide a fun time to me.

Brohood does feel more of the same at large, but I'd still suggest in case someone wants more AC after 2. I'm actually more lenient than most with AC (I don't even mind the silly story, even though 3 completely shat the bed), so AC1 and 3 are the only ones I'd suggest people to stay away unless they're fully commited to the series. I'm neutral about Revelations, but it could have been a much better game if it stayed more time in the oven.

Does anyone have any issues launching the Steam version of Amalur? Since installing it yesterday 50% of the time it won't launch without restarting my PC, no splash screen or anything, although it says on my friends list that I'm playing for a brief second.

Gonna have to echo this. Or if it's not a spring sale, maybe an Easter-themed sale? That would be a first one too, right?

Yes.

There won't be a Spring/Easter sale.

Summer Sale has always been how it's done. I'd be very surprised to see two big sales within' 2-3 months of each other.

Well, there is the Thanksgiving/Black Friday ---> Christmas sale gap with less than a month, but that's about the only time they really congest the market with sales.

Are there any places that sellwith games that are no longer on steam? (aka Steam gifts of Outrun 2006 Coast 2 Coast, Prey, Blur..... etc*)

This for me as well. Loved Asylum, thought City was merely ok.

They're both great games -- but Asylum feels tighter in the progression (story & ability acquisition -- it's got a very Metroidvania feel to it). It has a distinct lack of distraction comparatively. The story in both, while equal parts ridiculous, also has a more reasonable set up. Having a handful of bad guys running amok in a facility such as Arkham Asylum made sense. That whole City getting quartered off, felt like a good excuse to try to do something similar to Asylum, but not in that small space. (had that same game had all of Gotham to roam around in the same fashion, it wouldn't feel like that to me). I don't follow Batman comics though so maybe things like that tend to happen. It just felt....contrived. Too set up.

Still, my opinion with these games requires some serious over-analyzing, taking them at face value, they both deserve a place in any gamers library.

Yes, but those are small sales in comparison to Winter. And I'm looking at the past 3 years.

Maybe I'm wrong. I don't mind another sale, it just seems there is a reason behind the Black Friday sale, but there isn't one during Spring. If there was a "Black Friday-esque" sale during spring I'm sure it would exist. My two cents.

Just finished Tomb Raider.
Quite the anticlimactic ending...

Really enjoyed the experience though. Even if it was rather unrealistic, I liked the weapon/equipment 'progression' throughout the game. Wish they would've expanded it a little more though (areas throughout the game that required equipment you find later on).

Really liked the treasure hunting aspect (until you get a skill that basically breaks its). Found the bow extremely satisfying to use.

All in all, really enjoyed the experience...look forward to the sequel

The only one I know you can still get for sure is Prey. There are plenty of EU sites that still sell keys and the keys that come with the physical copies also redeem on Steam.

You can retail key Prey into steam if you can find a copy, the others not so much.

I'm currently waiting on 3 games in the mail, games no longer on steam that I theorize might redeem on steam despite not being on the retail key list they have. If it works I will let gaf know.

Blur is the first game that I own that is no longer sold on Steam.

I wonder why it was taken off?

The game for what it is, is a great game. I really enjoyed it, especially the multiplayer. I hope there is some sort reason behind it.

Does anyone know why games are taken off Steam in the first place, other than the obvious, such as WarZ.

ussually just deals expiring and not wanting to bother paying to renew them. Licensed music rights, IPs changing hands and stuff like that.

That and the fact that the studio that made Blur doesn't exist anymore. I'm sure that Activision is more than willing to take all the money for it but I bet it's a bit more complicated than that.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

In the case of Blur, that isn't a factor. They were wholly owned by Activision.

Beat Jet Set Radio, damn fine port. 30fps didn't bother me in this case because the game would get all wrong at 60 as noticed by the glimpses in the menu. Going to be trying the cheevos slowly and on the side when I feel more like it (been trying to do this now instead of allowing myself to obsess too much with extra content and general OCD). Love that with the JSR custom graffiti manager program you can get external .jpgs as graffiti in this version too, spraying the city with shameless eye candy really heightens the experience.

If it comes with two keys, I'd assume you'd go halfsies if someone wanted to do a group buy?

>_> If someone wants to buy a prey key from someone else, how much would they normally pay for it?

Hmm that's interesting, I just did a google search and found a steam thread that mentioned that while it seems to come with 2 keys one key will activate the whole game on steam and (according to the original poster) the second key is useless.

The thread also lists places to pick up copies of the game if you're interested in seeing some prices.

Steam thread that I mentioned

Apparent website where you can buy the game?

I can not vouch for any of this but it's a head-start if you're doing some research into it.
