Good man. I think the original is MUCH better than the remake (which I finally got fed up with and quit). If anyone wants to know what the original was about, play the original. SO much better.

Still don't understand why they discount the Half-Life games so seldom though. I wanna buy Half Life Complete or at least Orange Box, but I'm not paying full price, no way.

They are marked down a ridiculous amount every single holiday sale.

FWIW I've tried getting into Sands of Time a handful of times, having heard high praise. The combat and animation systems are interesting for their time but quite difficult for me. I'm playing it mostly for the platforming. Still suffers the same story telling problems every Ubi Montreal game has. It's one of those games I just mash the keyboard to skip cut scenes.
Sands of Time suffers from story telling problems?

You made me go check out steamgamesales.com to see if I was imagining things. These things always have a 75 percent off day during the sales. So 2.49 for the original Half-Life, 9.99 for Half-Life Complete. If you haven't played any of the HL games, Half Life Complete for 9.99 is one of the best deals ever.

Why is it taking so long to get a price on Evoland?

It's out in like 4 hours and the page still hasn't updated with a price.

I'm still kicking myself for missing the Christmas eve daily. But yeah, this is what I mean... 2 days a year isn't that often.

If anyone has extra 4-pack copies of Torchlight II, my buddy and I are looking (for $7.50 a piece). I could also front the money for a 4-pack and split up the codes if others are interested. PM me.

Sands of Time bashing up in here? I'm out.

Nah but really, the only fault is the combat which is still cool-looking with the bullet time. That's one of the things that was minimalised in PoP 08 that I actually liked with its create-a-combo system that reminded me of God Hand and is now in Capcom's Remember Me.

The story is the last thing I expected anyone to complain about.

I wish someone could explain to me why it's more expensive to buy just a 360 controller on Amazon than it is to buy the PC controller bundle, which is identical but with the additional wireless receiver included (I don't need another one). Amazon's automated pricing engine never made sense to me.

Anyways, has anyone tried those hacked together chatpad drivers yet, specifically with Big Picture? (the newer one which has support for the wireless 360)

Also, that headphone port on the bottom of the 360 -- that doesn't actually do anything on PC does it?

According to Wikipedia:
An Xbox 360 Controller with the default Microsoft driver with DirectInput has the following limitations compared to with XInput:
  • the left and right triggers will act as a single axis representing the signed difference between the triggers, not as independent analog axes
  • vibration effects will not operate
  • querying for headset devices will not operate
So maybe it does? I have no idea, I don't see the point when I can easily plug in any headset into the proper audio jacks.

I had a friend use that headset port own the 360 for chat with the provided cheap headphone/mic. It was terrible but it worked.

Stores like Amazon and Newegg automatically adjust on the fly based on demand. If something is lagging in the sales, prices drop. As soon as there's a sales spike, prices are raised until the spike levels off. Clearly there are more 360 users buying replacements, so that's the one they buy. And since there's more demand, the price never really drops from lulls in demand.

Obviously it's stupid in the above instance, but that's what happens when everything is automated.

Does the sound actually work? Or only the mic?

I recall it only being used like the mic was meant to be used on 360. You hear the player on the one headsphone piece and talked on the mic. Nothing fancy but I also do have a PX21 that does with it as well but that particular headphone/headset comes with a special cord to plug it into the 360 for voice chat.

Needless to say, if you are using it on PC I do believe the VC will be a little better if you have a PX21 instead of that crappy 360 mic.

Alright. Just wondering out of morbid curiosity. Or if I'm ever in a situation where I would need to use a headset and for some reason, the PC is too far away [from the TV?].

That makes sense. Stupid sense, but sense nonetheless. I ended up getting the PC kit in any case, if only because it's 1) cheaper, and 2) comes with a black receiver that matches my case better. Although I have a feeling that this wireless receiver is going to break and need resoldering like my current one.

Wait till you play Flux ;)

Flux isn't on Steam? It's more or less the same as Beat, right? I've played Beat and I enjoyed it and I've been meaning to pick it up on Steam...probably when the summer sale begins. It's either that or I'll pick up the Bit Trip collection on the 3DS (if it plays well).

Read on CAG that Dead Island was going to be on sale today:

Dead Island GOTY PC download - $4.99 w/$8 pre-order credit towards digital download of Dead Island: Riptide:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008NAYASM/?tag=neogaf0e-20

I enjoyed my time with Dead Island when I had it on the 360 but became bored towards the end. For $4.99, I wouldn't mind trying again, lol. Plus, I'm interested in Riptide so might as well get that $8.

EDIT: The $8 credit expires May 12th.

There's a new chatpad driver for the Wireless 360 controller? Does it also have a deadzone selector for the Analog Inputs?

Some games i've been playing don't have it, and it's driving me crazy.

Where is it?

Edit: wait, am I reading it right? It's not a xinput driver? Bummer if true:

Of course it'll need resoldering. It's a 360 wireless receiver afterall.. :D

See Sonic Transformed is doing a download. I really hope this fixes the "broken above 60fps" and v-sync locked to 60hz issue.

I've never played Another World, worth the ten bucks?

This game will kill you over and over and over again, with no hesitation. It is definitely a trial & error game.
If you can get past that, it is amazing.

It will be hard for someone used to modern games to get past that, unfortunately.

I played the iOS version of Another World for like 10 minutes. I got shanked in the ankle by a worm or something and haven't played it since.

I've never played Another World, worth the ten bucks?

Classically difficult, gorgeously animated and detailed (all by hand!) - Another World's one of the greatest games of its time and defines the cinematic platformer. While nowadays you hear that term and you think "oh christ, it's that 'cinema' shit again," this meant a great deal for immersion and it had zero compromises in difficulty. Pretty much everything would kill you in one hit, almost every frame had at least 3 ways to die violently and suddenly. The redone artwork really does it justice, the atmosphere and feel is perfectly maintained unlike some other "remake" artworks I can think of.

For $10 it's a no-brainer, even if it is a little slower paced than your average platformer the ride can't be missed.

Snagged the Prince of Persia games with a minute to spare.

Do any of them use uPlay? Not that it really matters to me, it's just an extra annoyance.
