"Yes, we will definitely put more priority on the PC. Last time, we started working on PC after the console version was complete," Tanimura explained. "This time, because we are considering the PC from the beginning, you can be sure there will be more care put into PC development."

Whereas the PC version of Dark Souls came out months after the console versions, Dark Souls 2 will launch simultaneously on all platforms. The hands-off demo of Dark Souls 2 that we saw was also running on PC hardware, as well.

This should come as good news to PC fans of the franchise disappointed by the lackluster port of the first game. That release sold "over 300,000 downloads on PC," according to Namco Bandai VP Carlson Choi. Figures like those likely made it incredibly easy for Namco to consider.

Thanks to the mods for fixing the thread title.

Thanks for buying our shitty port, we will promise to put more than 5 mins into it this time!

At least they finally recognize the audience, unlike Capcom who sits on Dragons Dogma, a game that is catered to the Western/PC audience.

Good, as much as I'd love to keep playing the series on PS3, I'm just not gonna pass up on a superior version. PC it is.

PREPARE TO BUY

Durante should be getting some shares or something. He is one of the few reasons why so many people bought the game.

His mod has 200k downloads and people can donate, if even a fraction of people donated he made a lot of money for a mod he himself probably wanted too.

Who cares honestly? The game is good and the mod community made it even better. Where is the problem? Some devs can be novice with PC too...

Um, you know, it wouldn't cost that much to go back in, remove GFWL, add Steam achievements and implement a resolution fix similar to what a fan whipped up in minutes. Tiny developers that sell a tenth of what you have have the courtesy and foresight to properly support their games on the platform.

Wasn't even going to snag it until it was in sale or the community fixed it, whichever came first. Think I ended up buying it a few days after release. Thanks, Durante!

Durante's fix works ok with GFWL ?

There is no GFWL free version of the game.

Everyone cares. Go dig up the thread about 30 fps lock, and how they barely put any effort in to it. It was a shit storm.

Ya, modders made it better, but it's down right embarrassing for them to release a game with GWFL and hope it works.

Thanks From. Thanks Durante.

Now give us Steamworks or a solution as good/better, but preferrably Steamworks. VAC would be invaluable to multiplayer.

From shouldn't get a pass for that abomination. Very disappointed in the PC community. They better get 2 right.

How about nothing?

I'm sick of proprietary PC bullshit wherever it comes from.

Yup. DRM is still DRM no matter how great their sales are.

Also since the next gen consoles are basically PCs anyways pretty much every game will now lead on both the PC/Console at the same time.

Even with GFWL and not being able to change the resolution out of the box, Dark Souls: Prepare to Die was probably the best PC game released that year.

I hope Durante has a cheque in the mail. Or at least some gift or appreciation or something.

I'm sure him fixing the atrocious port is responsible for a ton of those sales.

I never got the PC version but from what I've seen since release it seems Durante's mod made the game playable for a lot of people.

Similar to mods for Bethesda games but I don't think their games were locked at 30 fps among other things.
