Yes, this is what I was tryinf to say! Paper Zelda is thr dumbest thing I have ever heard. If paper Zelda appears in the final game, I will never, EVER buy a Nintendo product ever again. Looks like I will becoming an XBOX 4 fan!

...

This has to be trolling.

Ok...you obviously have some other issues with Nintendo then. That is a ridiculous statement.

Is this a bad joke, bad trolling or what ?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Paper Zelda is probably the thing I'm most interested about the game so far. It can really give everyone a different way of doing things in a dungeon.

I'm also super interested in what speedrunners will do. It will lead to some interesting things.

I mean yeah... it could and probably will look better, but it's not offensive, it's definitely not daring.

The New! LoZ moniker is fitting, but I can't complain. We haven't seen Nintendo do this kind of Zelda in a long time. They've tended to get mired in gimmickry. Some find that a fault.

I think of it as an endearing quirk.

Buwhahaha!!!

Dblpost followed up by one that was meant to be in the Critique: Zelda Link to the Past 2 doesn't look "lived in" thread.

I still haven't watched these impressions.

It has been so long since I played a new Zelda of this type and focus that I kind of don't want to know anything.

I'm also wondering how much it'll be used across the game - in every dungeon? In the overworld? Can I do it in someone's house?

In the interview with Sessler it was mentioned that you'd be able to reach new areas in the main world and impressions from the game people played in the dungeon showed there were very few places you couldn't at least ATTEMPT to do it.

The plan seems to be to use that to explore a lot of new areas.

Awesome. Time to merge with death mountain and walk around it.

I'm just hoping you get the ability to move vertically at some point with it, like jumping or something. Maybe even combat with other wall hieroglyphs.

Man, the more I see on this game. . .

I'm smiling from ear to ear!

That'd be cool! Someone on Zelda Universe (Fraud of the Stal) had a pretty cool idea on how you'd combine items with the wall merging technique to solve puzzles:

"The wall mechanic could be one of the best gameplay twists in zelda since majora's mask, there's some item potential here as well. If you throw your boomerang then go into the wall will the boomerang hug the wall and follow you like a spinning disc of death, will the Cane of Somaria return and allow you to wall hug the blocks it creates?"

They're terrorpins, not turtles :p

ALttP Artwork has a yellow band around his hat and brown sleeves, too. ALttP2 Link is wearing white tights, though.

It's been confirmed that the game takes place after ALttP.

The tree grows back every time you leave the screen.

Or maybe the buzz blobs just came back. This is a pretty big leap.

You didn't find an item in the Skyward Sword demo, either. The item of the temple was the beetle, but they gave it to you at the start of the demo. The demo also gives you the bombs, which you don't get until the next dungeon, and the bow, which you don't get until pretty late in the game.

The Fighter's Shield looks just like it did in-game in ALttP.

The Power Glove is not coming back. I was looking closely at Link in the 3DS trailer and noticed this:

It's a little hard to see in the youtube footage I pulled that screen from since it's so blurry, but Link is wearing a Power Bracelet. Its a gold bracelet with a red jewel, which is most similar to its FSA appearance; but it's been in several games, including LoZ, Oracle games, Link's Awakening, Wind Waker, and Minish Cap.

wait so are people actually upset about link turning into a drawing
how it doesn't fit in with the lore
the lore of zelda

It only looked that way in-game because of the complete lack of pixels they had to work with; the official art always showed it as far more detailed. Plus the one in Zelda 3DS does have the new bumps which is more detail than the SNES one (and I think they're different shades too)

They could have made it slightly bigger and put something on it if they wanted to. They put a symbol on the red shield. I think that, despite Link looking closer to his character art, they decided that the shield looked more classic unadorned.

of course i didn't
i did, however read what Raynes wrote
I'm not liking the gimicky goofy wall mechanic, doesn't fit in well with the Zelda lore at all. Guess Nintendo has lost so much originality they need hop onto the LTTP franchise and ride of that, whilst stealing a goofy Mario mechanic.
and i don't understand

I'm afraid you're wrong there. I've played the demo, I actually have a copy of it. You have to get it via beating a stalfos just like in the final game (though it's really early on).

Can't remember if the demo starts you with the bow and arrow. I could dig it out and try it again... Or I'll just hop on youtube and I'm sure I'll see it too.

(fake edit) And here we go... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIkN40yiuzw

Not that that proves anything when it comes to this demo, only that Nintendo has been pretty consistent with previews.

I watched a video before posting. You start with the beetle and you get a beetle upgrade from the chest that lets you carry stuff. Maybe your demo is different from that E3 demo.

You sure? Damn I'll have to check some others. Mine was a display demo, but I was under the assumption (as was the seller) that it was identical to the e3 one. :p that's twice you've gotten me sir.

Lost all credibility.
Will there be a new Navi-style companion character in this game? It can be nice to have a buddy with you on your adventure, but I'm wondering how they'll handle hints and how often they'll stop to explain things. Everything in the demo looked pretty self explanatory like a classic Zelda but it was also pretty early gameplay.

Hoothoot will show up randomly at dungeon entrances and drop you a hint or two.

They haven't talked about or shown any companion characters so far

2D Zeldas have been pretty light on this sort of thing, save for the Owl in Link's Awakening and perhaps Ezlo in Minish Cap. Neither were as intrusive/detrimental as Navi, Midna or Fi.

Honestly, Link's Awakening without the owl and the statues that drop you some hints (I think these were added in the DX version) would be a pain to play today. At least, in my case.

To be honest I never found Navi that annoying. Fi is the worst, worst among all.
Agreed. I can't replay SS because Fi constantly interrupts the gameflow. And if it isn't Fi, it's some other character that won't shut up.

So far, so good as far as ALttP2 goes. I don't see any annoying helper popping up to tell you how to open a door. ;)

I'm possibly the only person in the world who liked Fi. I thought she was cute. ;~;

Navi I can't stand, but she's also easy enough to ignore most of the time. So no big deal.
