Can't wait to read the whole thread when I'm not on my crappy cellphone, but if this doesn't show how ignorant everyone is about this company (with the exception of maybe shikamaru ninja) then I don't what will, who knew about this Kimisina guy? The one promoted? Who knew he was in the way of Reggie and Iwata in the line of command? This just shows that all the Reggie and Iwata blaming is just uninformed reactionary inflammatory posts, you people, as I have said many times, have NO IDEA what you are talking about regarding the executive structure and way of doing things of this company.

This is a TERRIBLE thing.
So, basically, Nintendo took someone who has demonstrated that they know next to nothing about the western market, what is trending here, what type of games we want, and how we want those games to be marketed to us....and replaced him with someone who has demonstrated, time and time again, that they know even LESS about those things?

Super Mario Galaxy came out 6 years ago. That's closer to Sunshine than it is today.
Except WiiU, they're as successful or more successful than ever and previous numbers showed them they were right to do this strategy... What's your point?
"Nintendo core" was not enough... you were not enough,most of their new IPs between 2000-2010 only did OK numbers, not enough. They expanded and earned more than ever. They fucked up their transition, didn't do everything they could for more partnerships but their strategy on software and related hardware was justified. It seems that many here don't want to accept it.
NSMBU on WiiU isn't the system seller they iwanted, NintendoLand isn't the gamechanger that was Wii Sports, they failed on these even if NSMBU looked like a safe gamble.
EDIT : and then you talk about GameCube, see? GameCube is an utter failure on a sales standpoint, I don't even know if it's even possible to duplicate a "GameCube" nowadays (a powerful enough, low power consumption, designed to have a BoM decreasing fast and cheap home console). And WiiU is selling worse right now, not on overall numbers. And
isn't 3DS doing roughly same software numbers than GBA? If not, excuse me and you were right, because I know 3DS hardware numbers < GBA numbers
The WiiU sells worse than the Gamecube an the 3DS sells worse than the GBA. So no, they are not more successful than ever.

My point is that Nintendo software is as good as ever. Sometimes their games are incredible, and sometimes they make you tilt your head. That has never changed.
Mine was red shell, blue shell, red shell, in that order. I never turned the game on again after that. It took me from 1st to 7th place.
why are you comparing the 3DS to the GBA and not the DS?
If you are going to go for stuff that came out a few months later, you might as well add Lego City and Monster Hunter for the WiiU.

I think a lot of people know this, especially regarding the Reggie blaming. He's a face of the company and thus an easy target. It's ridiculous to assume "[insert game] ISN'T COMING OVER BECAUSE REGGIE" or whatnot, and it always has been.
Yeah, just sweep the two consecutive failed hardware launches, pathetic infrastructure, and embarrassing software lineup under the rug. Ignore him being directly responsible for the biggest losses Nintendo's ever taken as a company. Ignore that fact that he has disregarded 3rd parties to such a degree that they openly LAUGH at the prospect of ever truly supporting Nintendo hardware.
Clearly none of that matters.
We hate Iwata because he loves casual games. Yep, that's it.
Actually, Kimishima's background (working for a bank, CFO of Pokemon Company) makes a heckuva lot of sense as to explaining what happened to NOA post Arakawa & Lincoln.

That's what I'm saying. I can list hundreds of things Nintendo does that annoys me and then when it comes time to find something to play, it is on 3DS most of the time. For all of their mess ups they are still releasing the games I want to play the most.

And i could add lots of other stuff for the Cube. Doesn´t change the point: The Cube was an amazing piece of hardware combined with amazing software(and loads of it). The WiiU is neither of these.
Fire Emblem and Luigi's Mansion 2 were this year. Let's wait and see what their Wii-U efforts look like.

First, Dragon Quest VII localization.
Second, Dragon Quest X localization (and bomba).
Third, Dragon Quest in Super Smash Bros.
It's the Nintendo cycle, not just for Zelda anymore. Also Howard Lincoln was the best NOA pres.
They also brought tons of stuff to the GBA in addition to their home console.
I on´t nee to wait for anything to see that Nintendo has become a shadow of it´s former self.

How do we know the WiiU isn't going to have amazing software? The thing is 6 months old.
And honestly I'm not sure I'd say the WiiU is less impressive technically than the Gamecube was. The difference is you're comparing a 33W specifically engineered piece of hardware with 200W+ hardware, obviously the WiiU is not going to impress as much visually.
Whether or not Nintendo's emphasis on small size and low power consumption is right for the market is another question entirely, but I don't think it's fair to pretend like the WiiU is poorly engineered hardware. Poorly envisioned, maybe.
