what is neogaf like during a season of 24 anyway?

There are plenty of old 24 topics to search for.

Wonder how many people that posted in them back then, have since been permabanned.

Need to track down my old Jack Bauer avatar

I'm still bent that they killed Renee just to keep up their arbitrary body count. If anything, I'd say we're more likely to get Audrey back since she's one of, what, 3 characters anyone would remember who is still alive? I mean, all I can even remember who I'm sure is alive is Chloe and Morris (who I'm pretty sure will be in since I doubt they have something better to do)

WOOO!

This is pretty much all that has to be said.

24 is fucking back! The Jack Bauer Power Hour~!

I absolutely love the first two seasons of the show, but it started going downhill after that when they started going away from the real-time concept. With 24 hours represented in just 12, I guess it gives them the excuse to do what they were doing in the later seasons (too much shit happening in too short a time), but I'll still give it a shot.

No way, dude. Five is the pinnacle of the series. One is great, but Two is really not that good going back to it.

Imo, Five and Three are the best.

Very cool.

Unfortunately, I never watched the original series. I hope this series isn't difficult to understand.

Wha...wha.....WHAT?!Not even mentioning season 2 is not even the top tier of 24 and had the infamous cougar scene.

I'm not saying all later seasons after the second one were bad, they just got away from what made the show novel and popular to begin with. When someone gets shot in the neck, goes into surgery, and is back at work in three hours? It got ridiculous.

This...and the Arrested Development trailer... is today really happening!? This is amazing news. Hopefully the shorter season means that the entire season will be planned in advance and not written as they go along. Hopefully the period off air has allowed them time to re-evaluate certain aspects of the show and consider new elements to the plot rather than to reuse the same material repeatedly.

So what does 'event series' entail? And how do i get Fox to do the same fore Firefly?

I believe (confirmation will be required as I'm not absolutely certain) that it means it will be a mini-series; that there are no current plans for future seasons. If it is successful though, who knows? Maybe we'll get lucky (or unlucky depending on the quality of the episodes) with more.

I'm curious to see how on buggery they're going to approach this since the last six episodes of season 8 were Jack going absolutely fucking nuts on everybody in a mass murdering spree, him majorly messing up Logan, a minimal core cast of characters that we care about left, most memorable and quotable characters either dead/nuked/zombified/lobotomized/shot and it ending with pretty much at least three Countries declaring Bauer must be killed/caught and/or imprisoned including the US

Still - perhaps my third favourite serial of all time behind The Prisoner (original series) and Breaking Bad, so bring it on. Despite its sometimes rough (soul) patches, Kiefer never gave less then 100% and I dont doubt he won't here.

Super excited about this.

2 hours x 12 = 24??

Or is it half a day?

It's a full day like before, but the writers are going to skip hours as they see fit. So for example, episode 1 might take place at 10AM and then they'll put Jack Bauer on a plane and episode 2 will pick up at 1PM. Pretty smart way of handling it.

Who was lobotomized?

I want to see:

Audrey

Logan

I have a feeling seeing Logan won't be a particularly scintillating experience, considering what happened at the end of Day 8.

I hope they remove President Taylor, she was a horrible president.

Oh I don't know, could have done with the family affair style soap opera with her daughter/husband, but I thought she played it well in S7. I think it worked with her having a moral core in a similar vein to Palmer. S8 was a bit weak in terms of her character though but I don't blame the actress.

I hope to god they don't bring in a reconstructed Logan. He was amazing in s4 and s5 but leave him be.

At least this time they aren't pretending the episodes run in real time.

Was it season 2 or 3 where they flew to the middle east, had a gunfight, then flew back in supposedly less than 2 hours?

Only ones I see coming back are Chloe and a Kim Cameo. Unless the whole series is set outside the outcome of season 8.

If it's some sort of "bring Jack back into the fold to save us" plot, it'll be Chloe that brings him in.

Kim to appear at beginning or end (with Grandaughter in tow). Having "Happy Endings" end at the same time, opens up her schedule.

If it's some sort of side event, like the African 2 Hour movie, then it could be about something other than Jack vs. America and Russia. Then, it might not even need Chloe.

Jack Bauer to finally have a happy ending?!

I hope so - I honestly wanted Series 8 to end as it began.

As for Kim, I'm not over the moon with Cuthberts performance as its been variable but she's been Jacks rock and served her purpose. There was a scene near the end of 7 with them and he was telling her his 'news' - it was very powerful and to be honest, many faults people have had with Kim are down I think to how the characters been written.

Series 6 was crap but 7 and 8, whilst not scaling the giddy heights, were earnestly trying hard and were enjoyable. What they did to Renee was shameful though.

I do not remember that for some reason. I do remember the end of season 5 where Jack goes from being tortured in a warehouse (iirc) to being shipped off to China in a boat in like 5 minutes.

Season 2, they flew to another city in California with Nina. Flew back, crashed, gunfight.

Season 3, they flew to somewhere in Mexico, for a few episodes, had gunfights, flew back with Nina.

They've ended and began seasons with Jack going on long voyages to/from China, but nothing in the middle.

Audrey, though I don't think Lobotomized was the right word. But she was borderline vegetable, when we last saw her

She was just suffering from PTSD or something, right?

It's been years, no idea where I got middle east from. But my point still stands that they were doing really bad fudging to force the "real time" premise going.

Yeah, think that was it. She was messed up from being in China for a long time, came back and could barely function. Think she had a few moments of recognition with Jack in the bowels of CTU. For some reason, I remember, that CTU were hunting her to lock her up, or maybe it was to separate Jack from her (probably during one of those "Jack is a criminal" episodes.)

Something from Season 6, which is hard to remember post-1st 4 episodes.
