If that is next gen, it's really not going to cut it to be honest.

I'm sure MS knows there might be a gap here, and will have their own next-gen exclusive stuff to show people the light, so to speak. For every third party game shown today I think they'll more or less have one (next-gen exclusive) game of their own.

I think first party publishing is going to be pretty important in the early days of these consoles, because third parties may not bring it.

Were people expecting them to make the game on 2 different engines?

Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.

looks like it got removed, or the stream took over, because I'm not seeing it anymore.

Honestly, they hid a LOT of detail by making it so SO dark.

"new" for them is just reworking the 16 year old Quake engine.

You're gonna get a closed ecosystem with the new XBox. Might as well accept it right now. This is a smart business move on MS' part and is not a bad thing. Apple, Google, and even Amazon have hit it big with their ecosystems, MS is getting there with W8. Sony and Nintendo should follow suit IMO.
