Microsoft: "We purposefully did not target the highest end graphics"

Right now my interest is purely in the exclusive games but we'll have to see after E3 is done with.

I do not even understand what youre talking about.

"Do we have any actual evidence that the PS4 has any advantage in power whatsoever over the Xbox One?"

Ok I have gotta add one more comment, this will hurt the Xbox fans but it kinda proves my theory that Sony first party devs are ahead.

Microsoft CHOSE to show Call of Duty Ghost, the game looks like current gen CoD games with a few more features here and there. The game didn't look "next gen" at all. Why close with a cross gen title? Why not show something amazing your first party devs are working on?

Sony had the balls, they didn't ask EA to come on stage and show BF4, they trust their own studio and delivered big time.

Because CoD is far bigger than Killzone can ever hope to be. I imagine MS wanted pressers to read "Play Next-Gen CoD This Fall on Xbox One." or something like that. That's what it was all for...Steven Spielberg and Halo series, watch a football game with your Fantasy Football League stats, all major sports games landing on Xbox One this Fall, etc.. All for the press coverage.

We'll have to wait until E3 to see how year one stacks up for X1 and PS4.

because Microsoft approach to this first glimpse is to attract as much awearness to it as they can. To do this they focused on broad appeal, t.v, sports, and cod. A popular racing game, 2 sports games (arguably the 2 most popular sports in the world), and cod. The only exception was remedy's game, but that seemed to be a nod more towards the cross, game-t.v aspects, along with the mention of the halo-spielberg announcement.

It's naive to think they were relying on EA, it's much more likely that they want the idea of EA and Avtivision (the two biggest names in publishing) to be attached to the xbox brand.

Also, the quote needs context. Are they talking about pushing the highest end graphics, or developing hardware which pushes the highest end graphics. The former could simply mean that they're looking to ensure slow but steady increases to game fidelety over the console life, the second means they're cheap.

I'm already pass I'm not sure why you can't even see that from my above posts, also I was replying to a above statement.

PS4 more powerful confirmed? (games wise)

From all the evidence gathered right now?

Yes it is, will it even matter when these two consoles compete for sales?

Most likely not.

Maybe. Personally it doesn't make a difference to me if I have to wait a couple of months after release for a couple of games. We'll see at E3 how the games are coming along.

One thing is for sure. This conference definitely wasn't for GAF. Time will tell whether that's a good thing or not (I'm betting it is). The cross-media functionality of the One puts the PS4s to shame

Thanks for at least editing your post, it's insane that only asking a question had people jump my shit because they are in full Xbox hate mode(I don't blame them for being in this mode.)

Maybe they have seen some of your unbiased posts in the Forza/GT troll thread.

Technically we're still waiting on Sony to show all their cards.

I'm not particularly trusting them at their word even more so considering they've lied before when they said they would let Microsoft make the first move and turned around and went for it themselves

lol, how dare Sony!

That CoD game looked bad...why would anyone buy a new machine to play something that looks like a PS360 game? It's like the Wii U all over again.

I am not too big on these "cross generational" games to be honest. MS should have showed Ryse instead.

They chose a poor selection of games to showcase the system's power.

Cartoony-looking CG renders for EA Sports games, a boring stretch of track for Forza, a too-brief look at Remedy's next game, and an extremely underwhelming CoD.

Hopefully they can show more impressive stuff at E3.

Really?

Go ahead and point them out for me.

lol, how dare Sony!

So I should give them a free pass for this action?

Why not? Both consoles will launch at the same time for about the same price. Of course it will be a factor, among others.

There isn't a single generation where a console won in sales based on power of a device.

and this was being aired on spike, they made such a big deal about. I didn't see a single next gen game there. What a waste....

they made a deal about it because of the games, not because of the quality of the footage shown.

Showing off a GTA which looks worse then Saints row is still going to get more attention because it's a GTA game.

Brand is important.

Also, the cod stuff here and killzone stuff from the sony presser looked pretty much the same graphically.

This is such a misleading statement. Yes, because there were other big factors which prevented this. For example the original Xbox did launch years later and was completely new and unproven... Of course it did not win. But what happens when two consoles launch at the same time for a similar price? The better specs become an advantage.

Do you mean that PS4's OS will be over 1GB or XB1's will be under 3GB or that a disparity of 2GB is inconsequential (in all respects)?
Even with all they have announced, I don't see what MS would do with 3 GB.

If there really is a 2 GB difference in capacity for games, I'd expect it to be less significant in multiplatform titles than the GPU difference.

How is it misleading?

Hell I thought this was common knowledge...

So it's also looking extremely likely that the OS is using 3gb of the ram.

5gb of ram left. SMH

Its going to be fascinating to see how much of a difference there is in multi-plat games.

you mean the ps2 wasn't more powerful than the dreamcast? and it didn't launch a year earlier than the gamecube and the xbox?
the ps1 didn't launch at the same time as the saturn, was more powerful, and came out 2 years before the n64?
and this generation still isn't over...

I dont think MS even knows at this point. Looks like they were just reserving ram for future needs by some of the statements made.

Because it suggests that specs won't influence sales, which isn't true when you have two consoles which are very similar in most areas (games, price, date...). Of course there are factors which can be more important than specs, but I don't see any of them favoring the Xbox.

Any word what the GPU will be like in the Xbox One? I know the PS4 will have something close to a 7850. GPU is by far the most important component for gaming.

I said that there isn't a single generation that was won based purely on a power advantage.

If this were true consoles like the Vita and OG Xbox would have done much better in their markets but clearly the main audience of the gaming community isn't purely swayed by power.

In a huge way?

No they won't, exclusives and community are going to be much bigger reasons than power for people adopting the Xbox One of PS4.

Forza 5 and Quantum Break... no longer considered next gen games.

Why are you lying like this?

I am going to post the same shots people posted in the Drive Club thread

When did I say that you said that?

I merely said that console performance does not determine the winner in sales in a generation, in fact I never commented at all on your opinion of this situation.

What does this have to do with next-gen games being at the Xbox reveal? BTW that Zonda shot is terrible.

What's next are you going to pull out a list war?

I said that there isn't a single generation that was won based purely on a power advantage.

Which is a meaningless statement, considering there are many more factors that come into play than just "purley" limiting it to one aspect.

It's like saying "There isn't a single generation that was won based purely on a price advantage." Well no shit. There is a lot more to purchasing a console.

driving game bullshots have been photorealistic for the past gen already.

so for bullshots, next gen driving games will look the same as current gen. aka perfect.

So basically you're agreeing with me?

This isn't a meaningless statement, it means that people saying that the performance advantage guarantees a PS4 win this generation have no justifiable evidence to lean on.

MS showed Call of Duty because it is the most popular game right now, not to show off graphics. Call of Duty hasn't had cutting edge graphics since COD4.

What? There's a huge difference between the two. Even without taking into consideration that Killzone was a live demo and the other is a trailer full of cutscenes.

The PS2 wasn't more powerful then the dreamcast. Also the xbox and the gamecube were both the same generation as the ps2.

Well that explains it, you're obviously delusional.

Even if the graphics were BETTER than the ps4..which it clearly isn't...

Why the fuck would any of you xbox loyal defenders want to purchase this console anyways?

-Always on line
-Basically blocks used games
-Basically destroys the concept of renting games
-Less focus on gaming software, and more focus on TV and other apps
-Kinect is constantly required
-Kinect is always listening and watching you
-Xbox1 is fucking larger than 2 xbox's combined, and the console itself is ugly as sin

So why the fuck do you care about the graphics? What microsoft has done with the xbox1 in general is a joke, and should be laughed and ridiculed upon.

Fuck you Microsoft. Fuck you.

Suddenly Killzone: SF's 1080@30FPS + GG magic seems godly. Will it always did, I expected similar games on Xbox One. Seems thats not happening. Ever.
