Well... I shouldn't be surprised since this is Nintendo after all... Or is the one setting the price in the e-shop Atlus themselves?

Eshop prices are set by the game's publisher now.

It's absolutely to be expected. Atlus considers that extra garbage a bonus for early buyers and the price won't drop when they remove the extras for a second print run. Also, I can't think of many day-one digital games that sell for less than the retail counterpart.

I don't live in the USA, so all e-shop releases that aren't done by Nintendo itself end up much cheaper than retail (which can even quadruple the price of games compared to what you're going to pay in the USA). So, I'll likely go with e-shop too, in spite of the extras.

Usually I wouldn't buy something like that, but I guess I might get those just to give different looks to the protagonist according to each one of the main alignments for each playthrough...

This set (the glasses/hair down/louislook) is currently free in Japan. Presumably it'll be like Fire Emblem Awakening's Marth DLC, which was free for like a week or two after the game was released.

I imagine something similar will happen for the NA version.

One of the coolest things about SMTIV is how all armor changes are reflected on your character. I love it when JRPGs do that.

In fact, I'm really enjoying the visuals in the game. The first dungeon looks great, and the little computer effects like the area scan are really neat.

This is a fantastic looking game IMO.

Well, but it's not a problem at all, I got the special 3DS LL as well and it was shipped yesterday. Since I had no choice but to use Fedex (because of battery restrictions via standard mail services), it will get here quickly. Sucks that I will have to spend even more to cover for import tax and other crap.

Fedex estimates it will be delivered by next Monday, so yeah, it's gonna be a looong weekend for me, haha

Thanks! Your right I can pretty much play at night now while keeping an eye on my little girl while she's sleeping. Big advantage for the game to be on portables now for me. But yeah when I have time in between the time with my little girl ill sneak in some SMT4! Good for me to play in little bursts anyway.
