Nagoshi confirms Yakuza PSV, 1 & 2 HD on Wii U is "an experiment", and no 3DS plans

Especially since its just 1 and 2. It would be far more likely if they ported 3,4,5
Maybe Nintendo didn't offer enough money for 3, 4, 5, never mind a completely new exclusive Yakuza game. I imagine that there was some sort of package deal with Sonic, Yakuza 1, 2, and maybe some other old stuff.

Calling it an "experiment" dooms it to failure IMO. To me it shows a complete lack of confidence. I mean yeah obviously the Wii U isn't selling well but if you're going to put a game on it, at least SOUND like you want it to sell.

Whait a minute, there were a couple of Yakuza games on PSP, right? And the had people "walking around" in them didn't they?

WTH...?

"If you don't rebuy Yakuza 1&2 again, that mean you don't want the new Yakuza games"?
Sounds a bit weird, but we'll see how that'll turn. Also it'll only be released in japan.

The most popular handheld device in Japan not a good candidate, huh?

I love my 3DS, but...it's really not. Not saying it's all about hardware power and visuals, but a full-blown Yakuza game on 3DS over one on Vita would seem like a real missed opportunity, especially when you look at the size of Black Panther 2 on PSP. Expanding on that would be irresistible.

Ryu ga gotoku on vita ?

My mind ATM:

Localised or not i'll play this game.

Came to post this.

Maybe becuase there are better hardware options aka the PS Vita. He probably thinks, and rightly so, that he can make a better Yakuza game with the Vita due to its extra power.
You people act like just because a platform is selling really well suddenly every single game should be made for it -___-

Can we get Yakuza 5 first please?

If they skip on 5 there is no way that we"ll get the PS4 game and forget about the Vita one.

Sucks that I'm now invested in the series and 5 looks more and more likely to never come out here.

They were pretty different games compared to the real installments. Pre-rendered backgrounds, no camera controls, different fighting system, etc.

SMT

this show is not Breaking Bad why is it not Breaking Bad? it should be Breaking Bad dammit Breaking Bad

Is this is a joke or did he seriously confirm Yakuza 1 and 2 for Vita?

Usually I would be super enthusiastic and go "Great, more ports...", however I actually would prefer Yakuza 1 and 2 on the Vita if it even gets a chance at localization.

The thread title is misleading.

He doesn't exactly confirm anything but I would expect a Yakuza on the Vita regardless as it is expected eventually given its history with Playstation.

I was hoping for an actual confirmation or press release.

Makes sense to me. He obviously doesn't want to do a Chibi Yakuza.
Yeah, i mean, look at Resident Evil, Chibi-Characters, Monsters that barf rainbows when shot with the flower gun. Screw the 3DS and its automatic Chibi-shaders.
If your post was sarcasm, then sorry, ignore my post ._. ... Sarcasm radar is not working like it should

I can't imagine that the Ports of the HD Remakes are going to sell ... anything. Not in Japan, not here if they ever get released in the west. That test is destined to fail.

Well Yakuza can stay PS exclusive, no problems here. But can i have a new Valkyria Chronicles? I don't care for what system, just make a new one ...

First post continues to not disappoint. I've never played a Yakuza game and I'd happily start with this.

If it never comes, you might like to know that Yakuza 3 and 4 has previously style videos for a nice catch up on the story. Yeah it misses a few things, but it's better than nothing. Or you can get a PS2.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
They should have asked him about a US version of 5.

And a HD remake for the black panther games. Even though the VA is shit in 2.

Sweet, ty. I'm already borrowing one from a mate to play SMT Nocturne so this might work out. Still bring on the HD versions

You're saying that they did the series on PSP so why not 3DS? Well, the PSP game was static backgrounds with 3D characters (like the PS2 games, it was a Resident Evil 1-style engine.) So storage space could be an issue (except that 3DS games are supposedly 2GB standard and can max at 8GB, PSP was 1.8GB... this isn't one of those cases where Nintendo is using GigaBits to make things look bigger, right?) 3DS's graphics processor also supposedly puts its might behind efficient effects and layering rather than pure poly-pushing power (thus perhaps no Katamari on 3DS despite PSP and Vita versions?) and it might be possible that results would be underwhelming if they tried to do the kinds of city populations that Yakuza Black Panther had (even Lego City struggled to create open-world, tons-of-poly visuals on 3DS and that was a tentpole product.)

That being said, it seems plenty possible to do on 3DS. If it were important for the sake of Wii U entries in the franchise (or if it were the only way to get Black Panther 1+2 out in America,) I wouldn't mind sharing Yakuza with Nintendo's portables as long as Vita got its due.

I would buy a Yakuza game on the Vita in a second. I really hope it ends up happening.

Especially if it's an Akiyama spinoff. Then I'd buy two copies.
