An Insomniac exclusive isn't a big deal coming off this gen like it would have been last time we started a new gen.

Insomniac did kind of fall by the wayside during the second half of this generation, but poor sales came from a lack of marketing. From what I've heard, R3 was a decent game, it is just that no one was aware it existed. We know Microsoft doesn't fool around when it comes to advertising.

Imagine Gabe coming on stage and saying "We have been thinking about making the third game in this beloved series for a long time. And now, we can finally show off what we have been creating."

And giant curtains sweep back and a 3 is on a screen. Then "Left 4 Dead" appears above the 3.

yup and we know how other MS first party games (other then Halo and Gears) sell. In freaking millions! Even forza is not that impressive.

if it said "Portal" above the 3 instead I would not be disappointed.

I would kill someone.

does Insomniac have two teams? because they literally just finished Fuse so I don't see where they have the time to have anything ready for E3.

Insomniac does have two teams. Their main team, and then one in North Carolina. I think the NC studio is still open, at least...it developed Ratchet: All 4 One.

It would be so weird if one team is making Ratchet game to be released with the movie and other team is making Xbone exclusive! But it is probably more like one team is working on Xbone exclusive while the other is still working on more Fuse content.

So was Joakim. That's hardly telling of shifting alliances to the point of signing exclusive game contract.

I agree. Kojima was also in a Wii U developer showreel, and look how that turned out. I don't see why people are making the "omg Kojima going Xbone exclusive" rumors any credence either. Especially for MGS, that would be a very silly move.

But people will jump to conclusions very easily this time of year!

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I wouldn't be surprised if Insomniac was contracted by Microsoft to do a mascot platformer. Although have Insomniac's stuff been good this current gen? I think their only great game this gen was R&C:ACiT.

It's a rumor for now, probably because Ted Price was in the Xbone developer video last week. No real evidence past that, if memory serves.

Kojima was too. They were likely just getting some newly multiplatform devs that typically weren't on the platform to comment on XBO like Sony had Bungie at their conference.

Resistance 3 was really fucking good.

I agree. But that doesn't stop other people from assuming it means he's doing an exclusive for them, as ass-backwards as it might be for that to happen. :)

I think it's another shooter to be honest... and after seeing Fuse... yeah.

The "everything is Xbox exclusive" conspiracy theories are getting out of hand at this point. Some people were actually convinced that MS would have CoD, EA Sports, and BF all locked up this year.

I would never put a bribe past Microsoft (I have personal experience with that shit), but I agree. MS can't just go around moneyhatting everything. It's absurd to believe third parties would give up that revenue stream.

lol I was just gonna say the same thing. If you go by rumors right now literally everything that Sony isn't making is apparently exclusive to xbox one.

I think a Metal Gear game appeared in that leaked miiverse list, hasn't some of those games been confirmed now?

I even thought the EA DLC would be more than just a few things for one mode in FIFA. It just doesn't seem to me like MS is going to throw too much money around for exclusives and would rather put their cash toward things like the NFL app.

they also have their own supposed $1 billion investment in firs party right?

I wonder how much it cost them to get that DLC for that one mode. I imagine it cost quite a bit. Or maybe it just cost having to force DRM >_>

Supposedly but that could also involve a lot of marketing costs. I just think MS would rather put their cash into enhancing XBL and their own developers' projects instead of just giving money to other companies. The Xbox division also doesn't get as much cash as some people think.

Discernibly, all that are developed by western developers is for Xbone.

If what we saw at Xbone's unveil is a sign of things to come then it's clear that the truly big games/franchises' developers will impart exclusive content to either or both platforms and nothing more.

With that in mind, unless an exorbitant amount of fee has exchanged hands for (timed) exclusivity, I can't see games like ES, Fallout etc be exclusive either platform.

wouldn't it be cheaper if it's only timed?

I suppose it would be. But still won't be cheap by any means. You could probably build an entire other game (or more) with the amount they'd have to pay. But this is MS, the guys who gave R* $50 million for timed expansions >_>

I just think with their own system hardware development costs, the $400 million thrown at NFL, and the $1 billion invested into their own studios, they probably don't have much money left to moneyhat. Maybe that's where their used game policy comes in.

Yeah, I thought this stuff would have calmed down after the Xbone reveal turned out to be a bunch of nothing. Battlefield and EA Sports titles still coming to PS4, Activision/Bungie are debuting Destiny at the Sony conference, and Ubisoft titles still have exclusive content on the Playstation side for Watch Dogs and ACIV.

As I said before, 3rd party exclusives will be niche franchises like Dead Rising and new IPs like Titan. Nobody is taking a major franchise exclusive.

Sony did a great job getting me excited for their next gen offer. basically, if they only show updated live gameplay of the same titles they showed in their PS Meeting show, I'd walk away impressed. I think Sony has E3 in the bag.

Oh, and it might be a little thing, but I find Sony's show intro/ending video reels cool. I love their music choices.

Tools of Destruction was a good one too. And Quest 4 Booty was solid as well.

But yeah, A Crack in Time was definitely their best game.

I think Sony has E3 in the bag. They really need to go out of their way to disappoint. That plus all the 3rd party next-gen showing/hype (regardless of exclusivity) will make for a cool showing.

I hope so, but as we all know, Sony is pretty much the reigning champion of the Disappointment-Ton. They've got the highest chance of pulling out a win thanks to the hole MS has to crawl out of, but they could also fail just as spectacularly.

They can really only fuck up by announcing DRM or a $500 price. There's zero reason to doubt the software we'll see.

Call me jaded, but if it's nothing but shooters and Western-developed third party multiplatform games, that'd be pretty damn disappointing in my book. I'm pretty much counting on some kind of DRM announcement, even if it's not as bad as MS'.
