I post this on other thread and I say this again: Microsoft its a lost cause.

Microsoft knew, months ago, that blocking used games and always online features would be very unpopular decitions, but they did it anyway.

They have a plan and they haven't moved from it. And I'm pretty sure they won't in just two weeks, even with all the bad publicity they received.

They'll buy articles, they'll buy journalists and they'll move on with this, expecting people forget about it and "deal with it" when the console is on the market.

In this generation, their fans paid for playing online when they shouldn't do it (I shouldn't do it and I did, mea culpa) and they bet this happen again: sell a product it's free on the competition and expecting their fans pay for it anyway.

If you expect Microsoft change something, forget about it.

Sony? As an user said before, I think they never really considered this or maybe they were waiting for Microsoft... buy after this campaign, they'll show themselves as the "white knights" of the videogames world and they exploit this a lot on E3.

Wow I miss a day due to life and it gets even better. Well done to everyone, I'm so glad to be a part of this amazing campaign. And I hate to be rude but if someone can put a banner on my avatar I would be most grateful!

EDIT: not satisfied with this. redoing
EDIT2: Fixed.

Someone on twitter is asking to get the banner put in his twitter avatar if anyone is interested in helping him out. I don't have photoshop otherwise I would do it myself. It would be cool to see it outside of GAF.

I'm about to post a new thread as a sort of update to the rest of the forum that has been avoiding this thread (or doesn't want to dig through the OP) about how huge this has become. I got the ok from m0dus.

But I just wanted to give you guys some warnings and a heads up... i can almost guarantee that there will be people saying it's a waste of time and we're crazy if we think it will do anything. Respectfully disagree with them if you want but please don't get into a giant flame war and get banned from GAF. We need you here.

Well stated.
Looking forward to the new thread.

Okay, thank you for the update and for being a leader throughout all this :).

Also, MogCakes, would it be too much to have one done for me, even though I'm a junior :3?

It's really dazzling to see so many gaming journalists or commentators supporting a policy that even MS/SONY might in the end find too extreme to implement...

Not all of us are. I don't often post here (I prefer to eavesdrop) but I've been a bit miffed by the thoughts of other journalists and I felt like chiming in.

We were talking about GAF's reaction on today's GameSpot GamePlay podcast where I think Tom McShea made some salient points: http://www.gamespot.com/features/gamespot-gameplay-episode-42-put-some-pants-on-6408764/

As for myself, I've worked in a variety of game stores before joining GameSpot and I fundamentally disagree with the language MS are using in relation to this. I'm under no illusions that an all digital future is ahead of us but I think they're misunderstanding the benefits of used games pricing for a massive amount of their consumers. The used games market is beneficial to the health of console sales, and many consumers buy new because trading is an option. If you fancy watching, I posted some of my thoughts here:

Finally.

Well, I know there are countless moving cogs in the GameSpot machine... but we're going "all in" on the viral push on the 5th. It'd be great to have some coverage.

In any case, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I'll add your video to the website.

Good for you. I hope every journalist in gaming media think first on us, the gamers.

Wow, I saw this on Twitter and was just about to post something about that video here but it's even better you did it yourself heh. Well I'm sure the community here thanks you for voicing your opinion on the whole used games debate. Great stuff.

Honestly I don't know enough about the realities of those markets to charge against any of this, and I think this is really early days too. But there is no doubt that Microsoft and Sony are watching the gaming communities reaction to all of this - and that's really important.

As Matthew Rorie said (referencing Patrick Klepek) on the podcast today it's great that there is a groundswell against this so at the very least the big two understand they have to give something back if they're going to go through with this. I don't think anybody is going to back out of this attack on used games, I think publishers have been breathing down their neck for years over this stuff, but if there is enough of a negative groundswell then it might make them reconsider the finer points.

I think in a perfect world they transfer savings onto consumers like Steam (generally) does. So if there's enough drum-beating around the issue it's at least on their radar.

Loved the video. The people you were talking about that rely on trading games to get new games is what motivated me on the personal side of things. I was once a kid trying to find ways to get new games... and I was once a 20-something not making much money that wanted to get new games. Trading and selling games allowed me to do that. If i didn't do that, and I missed out on some key titles over the years I'm not sure I would love games as much today as I do.
