Only as much as Guerilla targetting 30fps. I think the reactions here are going a bit overboard now.
Exactly.
Were there this many (silly) reactions about the PS4 with the news of the Killzone: Shadow Fall demo being 30 FPS?
So silly.

PS4 already has major titles running at 1080p, like KZ: Shadowfall.
Resolution is the most important part of IQ.
True, and they will look like shit in 720p. Sorry, but taking away a million pixels of detail doesn't cut it anymore IMO.
720p with AA was part of certification process for a long time. Games like Halo started subHD and MS dropped 720p and AA req later
This thread only confirmed 2 thingsmicrosoft... i dont even know what to say after all this months and months. First all the bad news were rumors, then you confirmed all of them (ALL OF THEM!!!), then was the turn of new bad rumors of things that you havent confirm (and probably never will) and... you have even more?!
I will go out on a small limb here and say if this game is 720p the Xbox One could be looking at a very ghastly second place and possibly 3rd if N gets off its ass.

From that alone you say? Preposterous!
Well, if this is what they have to show for their NEXT GEN game and you go up against a GT 6 or 7 on PS4 it is going to be obvious as ALL HELL which system is inferior. Hell, Drive Club itself is going to look insane even if it is 30FPS.
Beyond the first few months of mass appeal it won't matter sure. People will take their sides. But then put into perspective all the face-off articles out on the net by year 2-4. We are all connected now. This isn't 2005 nor is it 1999. If this is all they have to show after this long AND with all that DRM AND weak power people are going to take notice.
Everybody in the know saw the Wii's popularity rise after a year or so but it always had a positive buzz. Most of us knew it would die a slow death and be irrelevant at some point because of its technology but we also knew it was going to connect because it was something NEW. The Xbox One has none or nearly none of that energy behind it. In fact, it's the exact OPPOSITE kind of energy.
The kind of energy that says 720p is okay because we didn't put any effort into catering to gamers! Yeah! I want that! That is my company!
Tech power doesn't sell consoles.

Stop.
Really... just stop.
Forza isn't even a popular series. General consumers will be looking at other games.
The PS4 will more than likely have a decent amount of 30 FPS and/or 720p games too (especially early on).
Wow.
I completely disagree.
Resolution does matter, but I argue that texture, model, animation quality and shader effects matter much more than the resolution. Resolution is just one of many knobs developers can tune to help the IQ. Of course it would be great if all games could run at the native resolution of the TV they are running on, but that isn't always the case. That doesn't mean they are ugly games.
For example, The Last of Us is running at 720p, and I still think it looks like a beautiful game (don't have a PS3 so can't play it, but the videos of it look amazing).
PS2, the most successful home console of all time, was sold to a large part on power -- particularly during its launch window. Power alone does not sell consoles, and its arguable how much sub-generational differences matter, but categorically stating that power does not affect sales, especially in the early adopter phase, seems unfounded.Tech power doesn't sell consoles.

There's your problem.
When you're actually running the game, it looks kind of bad. I ran the demo briefly on my monitor yesterday. Jaggies and blur everywhere.

This game SCREAMS out for 1080p like no other currently out.
But this is especially the problem with LCD monitors. On TVs, especially Plasma TVs, it's nowhere near that noticeable or jarring. When you're actually running the game, it looks kind of bad. Why is everyone assuming 720p?
Yes? Framerate is still a topic of discussion in the Shadow Fall thread and this is almost 4 months later. Nobody is picking on MS.
Well... those shots have looked massively supersampled, so I wouldn't put much faith into them either.A good question, especially since we have shots of this running in 1080p already.

Bull. Forza is a huge franchise for Microsoft.
Tech power doesn't sell consoles.
at what native resolution.
900p
540p confirmed
At what resolution?
Anyone who thinks the F5 shots they have released are representative of the game's actual in-game visual quality is dreaming.
While there is no disputing that games look better at 1080p than 720p (and markedly so), I don't think this will hurt overall sales of games / consoles for the XB1...... the hardcore may be concerned..... but if you're that hardcore....... play games on pc at 2560x1600 or surround.
