No, they haven't. They can drop Wii U because they're not going to make money on it. They need PS4.EA have showed they have no problem dropping support (see Wii U).

Yup. They need the PS4 to be able to sustain all these AAA games. No, they haven't. They can drop Wii U because they're not going to make money on it. They need PS4.

EA dropping MS?I was thinking about the EA/MS deal.
EA dropping MS?
None of the major publishers are going to drop either of the HDer Twins. MS is still going to be huge in the US, Sony is going to dominate in Japan, and they'll battle it out in Europe. Everyone has to be on both.
This deal between MS and EA isn't going to hurt Sony's relationship with EA. Sony are still getting all the established sellers.
God, why does Sony's conference have to be so late into the evening? I'm going to have to drive cross-province that night. Crap, I'll have to watch it afterward, I'm pretty sure Monday will be the deciding factor of whether I hop ship or stay on the Microsoft gravy train.
Not dropping MS entierly but deals like the exclusive Fifa stuff and Titan would most likely sieze if consumers drops the Xbox One and go for the PS4.

Sorry I'm still waking up :/.No, they haven't. They can drop Wii U because they're not going to make money on it. They need PS4.
Titan matters, but the little extras aren't going to make any difference. Sony had exclusive stuff in RDR, LA Noire and Mafia 2, most people don't even know, let alone care, it certainly didn't help sales. MS could keep those things regardless of it's market performance if they want it. Titan is an unusual deal, it makes sense to lock down the team that made CoD4 of course, but the cost must be insane. If it locks the West into thinking of it as the bro multiplayer platform, it'll be worth it though. Push an early installbase and get people into the infrastructure, and it'll be the platform of choice for multiplatform releases, regardless of performance shortcomings. Not dropping MS entierly but deals like the exclusive Fifa stuff and Titan would most likely sieze if consumers drops the Xbox One and go for the PS4.

Who knows, maybe the rumors are true and MS has Mirror's Edge 2, and the next Dragon Age, etc, but I doubt it. I think Titan is a very costly one off.
It would be pretty awesome if they went all out on the PS nostalgia with FF and MGS at the conference.Side note, that rumor about Sony trying to court Kojima hard on PS4 MGS5... it's something I heard as well.
CBOaT said that TitanFall was the only EA exclusive.

Because then it doesn't have to be Tuesday morning.

TitanFall seems like it might be timed exclusive. They just said that they're focusing on XBO and PC right now but their phrasing seemed very careful to not rule out possibly hitting PS4 later on. Exclusive DLC will last for as long as the contract goes for. EA's not a company that'll be a long time friend. They're purely interested in their bottom line and do whatever they feel suits them best.

Unless you live in Europe. Because then it is Tuesday morning.

What would become of the EA/Microsoft relationship if the PS4 takes an early lead in sales? Given both consoles appear to be due out at roughly the same time. Frankly I've never witnessed this much negativity focused on a single platform (the post/view counts on these threads are quite eye opening).

Patrick on Giant Bomb had an interesting idea about how to do DRM.
Have it so that when you buy the game, it is locked to your profile for 30 days. You cant sell it, or trade it.
After 30 days, you can do what you want with it.
I would be ok with that.
Mmm yes. They're definitely in that mindset currently.
Can't say I blame them.
Seems like they'd have to extend return policies for games that would have something like that on them... what if you despise the game after a few days with it?

When you say they are definitely in that mindset is this based off of things you've been hearing from within?
Would be awesome if Sony tried to bring back the PS1 and PS2 days!

You know that Fifa exclusive content will be some Kinect/smartglass integration.

i think from what I read the Fifa "exclusive" is some kind of card game or something.

The only reason ps3 flopped is because Sony hired a real shithead CEO who fucked everything up for the company. Now that he is gone and Kaz is in charge expect Sony to go back to normal.
The PS3 'flopped' because they included a bluray drive. It delayed the system, exploded the production cost, and actually gave worse loading speeds.
It was by far the worst decision the PlayStation group has ever made.
Uh... Hell No.
Without Blu-Ray fantastic games like God of War 3, the Uncharted series and Metal Gear Solid 4 etc. would just not have been the same.
If Sony had used DVD in their console we'd still be watching shitty SD movies on our HDTV's.
The PS3 is the main reason Blu-Ray won the format war, and thank fucking god for that.
People may talk about how much the PS3 lost for Sony, but they forget that using it as the Trojan Horse for Blu-Ray made it money in a lot of other business areas.
Those three games are all incredibly linear, and could have obviously shipped on DVDs. MGS4 even has install pauses for minutes every chapter, massively longer than the time it takes to change a disc.Uh... Hell No.
