I'm a ps+ subber too it has been great, but really it's my choice to pay for that service.
But forcing someone to pay to play online where the online part of the games is becoming more and more substantial is so much against my idea of customer care i cant express.
Grab customers by offering great service for a great price.
Dude, it's the principle of it as much as anything. We don't pay it on pc. We don't pay it on ps3. We don't pay it on ps vita. We don't pay on Steam. We don't pay it on android devices, nor ios. nor on wii, wiiu, ds, 3ds, etc etc etc.
I don't mind paying extra for things such as ps+ or gakai. But not where it robs us of half the game if we don't pay microsoft and sony extra.

This is why I kinda wish Sony would make everything clear before e3, even if it's bad news. I'd rather not wait til e3 to just be disappointed.

Would "streaming" include local screenshot/video capture? That would be annoying if charged for, but as long as online is free then I'm happy.

I don't believe that will happen to be honest. It's free on Vita and with the latest Skype app update on the Vita you can even use that to chat with anyone on any device using Skype while you're playing games on your Vita.

Maybe its free to put up on your PSN profile, but charged to put up on streaming sites/social media sites etc?
I'm willing to pay if it's worth it, like playstation plus but will not pay just to use online, it also sucks for those free MMO games that are coming to it, DCUO is free to play and you don't need to pay online for PS3, now if you do for PS4, then what incentive is there to buy a PS4 and not just stick to PS3, and I'm sure many of the free players wouldn't bother.
It may get them more revenue but many, like myself wouldn't pay if they do it like that. It's not about being poor, it's about paying for something that I shouldn't have to. The people that say "well it's dirt cheap", miss that point.

Agree. This was supposed to be one of the best E3 events ever and it's turning into the worst.

we've got PS+ tier for 60 a year and then this Gaikai thing for 100 a year.
Is the plan for the Gaikai thing to be like.... a Playstation version of Spotify for games? For $100/yr you can stream any content off of the Gaikai system? If so, that price becomes a lot less bad.

I suspect screenshots will be a basic OS function but for the right price, Streaming and other amenities might be enticing.
With how much Sony are pushing f2p, I surely do hope online is still free (which is seems to be).
It's the same thing we've heard all along: My impression is that at this point no one can definitively say what policy Sony will side with at the end.

Probably uploading them to official sony servers or actual streaming like with ustream is paid. You can probably save your videos to usb and edit on pc later or upload directly to youtube.

If online play and apps (Netflix etc) aren't behind a paywall I'm feeling better about this. I just can't believe having to pay to use services that I already pay for via subscription. I'm cool with the way PS+ and the rumored streaming/sharing are as those are added features rather than basic functionality that has always been free.

If Thuway is still around, where did the pricing tiers come from? That wasn't in the kotoku piece and the DRM up to pubs?

as for the thoughts of how can you play f2p if behind paywall? Is MS doing that with some of their F2P (rumored) games? It's still feasible. It sucks, but feasible.
