Nintendo Direct E3 2013 Presentation

A sequel to Mario 3D Land would be exciting at any time except for when I am expecting the new evolution of the main Mario series.

This was not a conference, they'll probably announce a price drop in a near future. Also, TGS is their home, I suppose they will have something to show there.

Anyway, X looks great, Bayonetta, and I quite enjoyed Super Mario. Mario Kart also looked very fun but 2014? Ffs Nintendo.

Overall I expected more, and please tell me that's not what Retro is working on. Thanks.

That sucked. A lot. There were new games, but they weren't surprising in the slightest. Nintendo has never been as "rehash" happy as this, usually they bring something new to the table with their sequels. Very poor effort.

PLEASE, someone tell me Nintendo has something unexpected in reserve. They can't be serious. Right now is the first time I kind of regret buying a Wii U...

Please help me with my bad english
Got a hint about the thin software lineup when so much time was spent presenting Wind Waker HD. Goddamn.

I loved DKCR and Mario 3D Land, but, to be fair, I paid $30 for each of those and already had a 3DS for OOT and Kid Icarus. I'm not really willing to pay $50 for sequels to those games. I just don't see any system sellers really, at least not without a price drop. It sucks because I really wanted to hear something that made me go "screw it, I'm getting a Wii U today".

No surprises. No new IP's. Retro wasting their talents on DK when they already did one. No price drop. Iwata is losin his job in Q1 2014 when Nintendo doesn't get it's target profit like he promised

The stream was terrible for me. Did that Mario game have cat costumes in it? Fucking cat costumes?! And Retro's game was the new Donkey Kong game? What a waste...

My Wii U might belong to someone else soon...nothing exciting at all other than X which is coming out next year :(

Will need to watch this again with a full stream, but here's my thoughts:

Excited for DKC: TF. Think it looks glorious.
Mario Kart 8 looks great
Super Mario 3d World looks fun (but not epic)
Smash Bros
I'd say Zelda, but I almost missed it all in the stream

However, I saw none of those games utilize the gamepad and, while I don't regret getting my Wii U, it does make me worried that Nintendo's creativity may be shrinking.

I find all of these games to be comfortable and will enjoy them a lot, but I'd like something a bit fresh. It certainly does make me worry for the future of the Wii U.

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
Nintendo's internal teams are just creatively bankrupt right now. I don't know if they are out of ideas, or if the pressure to churn out guaranteed sellers has made them turn inward.

Not one new idea from a Nintendo team (I'm not including Monolith in this rant).

They are in big trouble. Mario World 3D isn't going to do it this holiday, and neither is Donky Kong.

I could barely see shit, but what I did see let me know I don't have to worry about a Wii U until next year at the earliest. A little sad to see Nintendo's announcements play out like this, even if this was all they had I think a stage show would have helped. At least the stream would probably be better.

I actually was shocked when the full trailer was pretty much everything I've played before. Didnt even look that great visually to me

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I thought the games they showed all looked wonderful and we didn't even see Fire Emblem x SMT, Yarn Yoshi and others.

The disappointment is that so many are coming next year.

Not one new idea from a Nintendo team (I'm not including Monolith in this rant).

But they are a Nintendo team.

Watched the Mario game on the youtube stream and it actually looks pretty good. I am worried at the focus on multiplayer. I did predict an SMB 2 throwback, but I didn't want it to be so much like the 3DS game... Still, I think it looks polished and probably will be fun... Really looking forward to hands on impressions.

Overall though, this direct was a huge disappointment. The fact that Retro seem to be making Donkey Kong is the biggest disaster.

X was amazing. I think it's going to be a really great game.

Mega Man in smash is cool, but I am not really much of a smash fan. Hopefully it means there is a wii u mega-man game on the way.

I worry for Nintendo after seeing this. What happened? They seem lost trying to make games for this console. For the first time, it seems like third parties are doing better than they are on their own hardware.

There is a possibility that the Sonic game might be better than the Mario game (though I am still holding out some hope).

Besides a price drop I have to wonder what some of you were expecting. First Nintendo direct you've seen maybe?

I think people expected more because the Direct was in placement of their usual E3 conference. As well as the Wii U continuing to struggle.

I think it was more than reasonable for people to expect this Direct to have more, given this is what Nintendo was doing instead of E3.

Ouch that was rough I was hoping for more.

X looks interesting although they didn't really show off much gameplay just alot of walking around.

Wind Waker certainly didn't look as good as those shots they showed. Still one of my favorite Zelda games but I wouldn't buy a console for it.

Donkey Kong looked nice but meh I dunno.

Mario World was incredibly underwhelming. I just finished the 3DS version 3 days ago and this whole trailer I just kept thinking I just played this game. If they were gonna get this lazy with it I would rather have seen Galaxy 3 at least that has some imagination not just a cat suit.

3rd party stuff was alright. Wonderful 101 looks ok and Bayonetta looks like ass imo and I loved the original. Also that new design no thanks. Ass creed and watch dogs I guess are alright although I can't imagine most playing it on Wii-U.

Brawl looked super underwhelming as well. I love some Brawl so I am sure it will stll be fun as always but like I was expecting more of a roster. Mega man is a cool addition though.

I was really hoping for a price drop because I was ready to jump in if that happened but I guess not. I mean here its $349.99 for $50.00 more I'll just order the PS4.

Nintendo has needed to get rid of its old guard for years now, the writing is painted on the wall at this point in big, bolded font. Miyamoto and the rest of his generation need to be moved into PR or forced into retirement. Too many of the older generation work longer than they should, it limits the opportunities for everyone else to show what they are capable of.

So is this the future of WiiU now is it. Just unrezzed games we've already played on 3DS.

Jesus Nintendo. You bastards.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
Didn't think Nintendo could underwhelm with a mainline console 3D Mario announcement. But I also didn't think they could royally fuck a console reveal.

Live and learn, I guess.

I watched the JP stream since the US one wasn't working. Did I miss anything?

that's 3 E3s in a row they've failed to sell me a WiiU.
will buy one in late 2014 when X gets released, should be pretty cheap by then.

Thats fair, just surprised at how strong the reactions are. Like I said earlier in the thread, it was pretty much what I expected. No price drop is madness though.

So...Rare's next game is another Donkey Kong...

I can't say I'm all that surprised. Thinking Nintendo would let them do a new IP was foolish. Still, it would have been nice to see them try something else.

No price drop was bad. Sorry WiiU, you ain't getting my money this Christmas.

Can we all agree that WiiU is fucked now.

Yup, Nintendo needed to come out swinging, and instead we are getting unspectacular Wii U sequels to 3DS games, and trailers for games we already know about. No secret Retro game, no new, resurrected, or even rebooted IPs, outside of Art Academy, I think. No price drop.

It really doesn't look good in the face of Sony's price unveiling or even MS's impressive software line-up in spite of the XB1 blunders.

So it clear now why Nintendo didn't want to do an E3 presser.

They had nothing to show--and they knew it. Going against the excitement of new MS and Sony hardware with such a lukewarm lineup would have gotten them massacred in the press.
