Great analysis indeed op. When I saw the video during the show, it reminded me of DMC's fighting system, did anyone else think that as well? I miss the old fight/magic/item system but I guess it's time to move on. Thank god for my 3DS.

I wonder if swimming is going to be an actual mechanic in the game, though it seems like it'd be difficult to create that scene without it.

What? It looks incredible. Maybe try to look at the full hd trailer, not some 120p pixel gif.
Just downloaded and watched. Fucking insane. Solidifies my choice of this being game of show. I honestly did not expect SE to regain my trust in one fell swoop, but I love everything about this. It's Advent Children the game. The visuals, design, lighting, characters, enemies, scale, draw distance, textures, geometry, exaggerated combat etc, all just looks so so good.

I did a double take at that scene...thought it was CG for a second.
I watched the gameplay demo of FFX HD today, and during the opening cutscene I thought, "You know, FF XV looks like it might be better than this graphically." After watching that very high-res video, I'd say it IS better than FFX's cutscenes. I'm amazed.

I have to agree with Computer. The rest of what's there is great, IMO, but the water, especially in the 1080p trailer, looks... not consistent with everything else. *shrug*
Edit: Of course, that isn't to say it's unimpressive. There's a shit-ton of water being rendered there, among other things.

I don't want to sound negative but what's with the framerate? It doesn't even look like 30 fps. That's one of the things that prevents me the most from getting hyped about the trailers.
Let's just hope the story and characters part can hold a candle to it. Last thing we need is another FFXIII style disaster of a plot.

I think they have enough time to plan things and avoid wasted potential in the story..XIII's story took a hit just as every aspect of the game did.Villains like Nabaat , Rosch and Cid are never given enough screen time (despite the massive amounts of cutscenes in the game) Sazh life before the purge and his marriage are never explored...Hope's family situation is never explained clearly..Are his parents divorced ? and even in the ending his father simply disappears..The list goes on...Too many questions unanswered.
True true. But at least it looks a little more open than FFXIII. Hopefully the exploration and gameplay offers similar flexibility and expanse as the combat.

Yeah, all of it was in Lucis, except the swimming scene.
Dunno if someones already posted it here, but I posted this in another thread. My favourite bit from the trailer.
That part absolutely blows me away...I particularly love the detail on the hallway as he runs towards Leviathan.The quality is outstanding

The thing that has me disturbed is how the f they can say they are thinking to change engine to Luminous?. Is it still using the FFXIII engine?. How long it takes it to come out then?.
Well it's still in an early process. Also it seems the game has a lot to render. That scene seems to take place on the bottom of the waterfalls, so if the camera turn around behind Noctis you'll see the entire kingdom. To me its impressive considering all its rendering. But the funny thing is that Noctis's hair still looks amazing afterwards.

You will need to wait for the next game I reckon for that. This isn't fully using their luminous engine.
