Ledo is chilling with a bunch of sea faring Shiekah, which is odd, since boating is more of a Gerudo thing. Pinion
having to do diplomatic negotiations
means they're all dead men. Oh hey,
the Lobster Queen is back.
I wondered when that would happen. Hoooooooooooo boy, you mean
the GAoH knew what the Hideauze are? And just never bothered to tell guys like Ledo? I'm suddenly wondering what else we don't know about the nation that birthed Ledo. It seems likely that he's a clone.
Oh geez, Pinion, how dumb are you? Up and
join a cult and read a paper of theirs into a microphone without knowing what it says.

Gotta say I'm enjoying this show so far. It'll be nice to see how
Ledo handles his feelings for the people of Gargantia weighed against his ingrained need to carry out his mission.

Maturity, bitches.
It was yesterday! I saw the sun and everything! I was in different parts of London over the course of the day and only got rained on once!
It's been so long since I've seen the sun I had to wear my sunglasses because my eyes were not used to it.

I think it was said that she's more so doing these heinous crimes out of a necessity for time or some bullshit like that and developed the whole evil persona as she went along with it with her younger, more naive version being swayed by Shido and his D of promised victory, either that or she was just a bitch since day 1. The writing in this show is so unbelievably horrendous and awkward yet I kinda liked it for some reason, my tastes may be degrading by each shitty season I experience.
What did Tohka do to make you hate her?
She broke her character.

Here's the problem with women in anime, well, lots of popular fiction really. Almost none of them are really strong. It doesn't matter how strong they are, they could be master gunfighters like Revy from Black Lagoon or just the tough, no nonsense student council president chick, none of them are really any semblance of strong and the whole persona is just a facade to protect their weak true selves. If I was a woman I'd be insulted. It reminds me of that scene in the movie Chasing Amy where the black guy says that Vader being a white man under the mask is like saying all black people want to be white, this is the same but with women. Now, that's not to say I don't think you should ever see this type of character, I'm down for all types but regarding women the amount of truly strong willed women in anime can probably be counted on one hand.

Now Date a Shit, I don't even know where to start with this show, I can't fathom so much of it because it's beyond ridiculous. First off all the girls are warriors of some sort that can summon bad ass beings and destroy shit, even the little girl(who must actually be really fucking old), and at the same time they're all emotionally stunted, vulnerable, horny welcome mats for the first people to ever talk nice to them. Already all of the girls are fake strong which is a knock against them. Now I can't fathom this universe they have going on here. Somehow, you have these nigh immortal spirits, who have lived thousands of years all still stuck with the mind of a teenage girl that's never even met a man before. Which I really can't believe because, it's just stupid. How do these beings that have seemingly never even met people or other things, since they're all apparently waking from some slumber even have personalities in the first damn place? It's like, for Tohka to be Tohka wouldn't she have to have had experiences before she woke up in Japan? Surely someone taught her to use a sword? Surely someone made the little girl spirit the puppet? Where the fuck are these people? Why are these spirits acting like fucking outcasts? You have Tohka, who's awoken a few times prior and each time always gotten attacked, well, why's she acting like that's all she really knows? According to the show there's not that many quakes going on and the sudden constant quakes is a new thing, and since each time she awakens and sleeps is like the only time she's conscious she's probably only been awake for 50 minutes or some shit by the time Shido meets her and she's acting like she's been hunted her whole fucking life. I'll never get the moronic humor in having Tohka, or any of the other girls speak tons of their language and not know the word for swimsuit. Yes, that makes fucking sense. You know the word for mech because that's a really important word but swimsuit is some new word to them. The laughs.

But lets talk about the spatial quakes and the AST, what the fuck is up with the AST? When Maya's introduced she's introduced as the girl who killed a spirit. So, is that the only spirit they've ever killed? What are they even basing their plan of attacking the awoken spirit and killing it will stop the spatial quakes on if the only spirit humanity has killed is Kurumi and in her case they've never really killed her and she keeps reappearing anyways? Who has come up with this fucking plan? And yet they look down upon talking to them as if they're getting results on their end. What the fuck kind of writing is this?

But then switch to the concept of sealing their powers and you've got one of the most lopsided sexist plot points this side of Campione. They have to fall for you and you kiss them? What, you can't just come to a mutual agreement and shake hands or some shit? I guess every time some lame ass author comes up with a plot device of kissing granting some special power I can just thank God he didn't decide to go for broke and just make it a blow job or some shit. Yay for self-censorship I guess.

But then back to the girls, assuredly all these spirits didn't come out swinging when they woke up so am I to believe that in all their time a man's never been nice to any of these attractive girls? That's as big a stretch as just having spirits and magic in your fucking show.

All in all I just can't give two shits about how they try and justify anything in the show, I assume some people are actually drawing the spirits there. there's probably some lame ass arms race going with weapons contractors or perhaps someone just wanted humanity to harness magic or some crap, I don't know, I can't care because everything around it is so stupid. And these type of harem set ups make it impossible to write decent women because they all have to be broken anyways just for the idiotic premise to even work.

Garrr....

And don't get me started on Hentai Ouji.

These are shows that know they are stupid and revel in it. Im perfectly fine with those. You cant take shows like Date a Live seriously. They are waifu generating sources for otaku and generally just fun brainless shit to watch when other shows are waiting for the next episode. Plus, they are really damned cute. Neptunia will be similarly brainless and entertaining Im sure. Same character designer even.

Yeah, you're probably thinking a little too much for this series. It's stupid and somewhat misogynistic, but I mean it never pretends to be what it's not.

holy shit all this hynden walch talking and saying things and calming my soul

i am in heaven. this anime automatically will receive a score of 10.

Shut up Simon. you're going to make Nia sad and I will never forgive you.

Dog Days - 6

Wow. Absolutely nothing happened for the first 13 minutes.

Does the princess make all the swords out of the castle's gold and paint them silver? Because I don't think that normal swords break that easily. No wonder her country has been having problems.

I'm not sure I should be finding this relationship between Millhiore and Sink to be adorable or scary. The whole animal-person/human thing is bringing back horrifying Sonic 06 memories.

And we've got some foreshadowing thrown into the mix! Things are bound to get very interesting.

I don't even see how it's a waifu generator when it's not even generating reasonable facsimiles of the personalities they're supposedly generating! I can't understand it. So Otaku want a strong girl who's really not? A insulting girl that's really not? I can't understand how one can want something when from the start what they supposedly want and are being delivered is based on a lie.

I actually don't care that it's misogynistic, or even stupid, it's just, if all the supposed personalities that's supposed to be selling this girls isn't their actual personalities what are we even being sold? Their outfits? At some point I start to take offense as a man at someone insinuating that I want the -lite version of these personality types.

You really are looking way further into these kinds of shows than perhaps you should.
They are lowest common denominator stuff. Absolutely pointless fluff for the small audience that enjoys such things.

Well at least in this show they made the princess a fun and engaging character as well as they did with Sink. So I'll give it points for that. It's nowhere near a re-creation of the Sonic 06 monstrosity. I'm just saying it brings back some bad memories.

But wait, are you saying that you enjoyed this?

Okay, we're back to action in this episode, and Simon's no longer the most annoying little shit in the world.

I am in love with Nia

Like others have said man, your taking the show way to seriously for something that's pretty much concentrated about enjoying the harem aspect with the girls.

I will say this, the anime adaption does a piss poor job about explaining certain things, with the AST and their equipment being the prime example. If you want to get a better explaination about the stuff, I really recommend trying the LN. It's still "early" by only being on V8, but its still the superior version and actually has clues/hints about certain things that you had a problem about that you just mention (not all mind you).

anime has the oft-unenviable position of having to take ideas from a VN, LN, or manga and make it into a standalone product for a new audience. Shows like this probably need to be experienced in both mediums but thats not how most will see it.

That false front is actually a big part of the appeal, for whatever reason. It's why "tsundere" basically went from a girl who initially dislikes the protagonist but eventually starts liking him to a girl who likes the protagonist since they interact for the first time, but puts on an obviously false aggressive front and tries to hide it in various comedic situations that often go nowhere.

There's a certain appeal to, say, a woman who usually doesn't take care of her looks very well suddenly appearing in a beautiful dress and properly dressed up, compared to just starting like that. It can be seen even in Western media at times, so it's not just something for Japanese or otaku. I think that type of characterization seen in anime is basically an attempt at that contrast, but in a way to make even her initial state "cute", by showing that it's obviously a false front. And, yes, most of the time it just doesn't make sense when you realize that the world existed before the story started and the protagonist isn't the only "nice guy" in the world.

Can we nuke this thread now?

Mushibugyo 11

Tsukishima was cool. Easily best episode of Mushibugyo yet and probably favorite action episode in an airing anime this season. Somehow it seemed like the fastest 23 minutes so far and nearly jam packed with it. Really enjoy Tsukishima and just how everything was handled with allies and foes. New arc looks fun but Sasuke is a bug :(

Most heartwarming moment in gaming.

I actually had the wisdom to never bother with the game at all, but I'm not disgusted by it like you seem to be. Girl is kissing a walking, talking hedgehog.

It wasn't the fact that she was kissing the hedgehog, no that was the last straw. What bothered people was the entire relationship between her and Sonic, and that she kissed him is what sent the fan base into a spiraling mess of rage and hatred.
