Because I DONT CARE ANYMORE. I have nothing left to lose in the FGC. The WORST people in the FGC are in control of it; the people who run EVO/SRK, BigE, Henry Cen, etc... they are all terrible people who are sabotaging the FGC in order to pursue their own interests. The worst part about it is that they act like they are doing it for the community, meanwhile they nickle and dime the players, leeching off of them, and stunting the community's growth. The FGC is actually shrinking, and it's not the player's fault, but the people in control.
Well, I've ran into you a couple of times, and I think you're telling the truth on what happened. I think you're right. I came to the same conclusion years ago, it's a big reason why I've never given a shit about EVO, and why I'm a VF player- VF doesn't have that political shit for the most part. I do have to thank you for giving VF some love. I now understand why you won't be at TFC despite SC being there.
To be fair, this seems like a Philly scene thing. I hit NEC and FR last year, and FR seemed MUCH better run in general.
Maybe you need to start something with all the poverty games/other stuff, and basically form your own FGC , and grow that. Prove that the FGC doesn't need the big boys. I've seen a number of groups that run their own thing and don't have anything to do with the "big boys"- I'm actually watching a stream of such folks right now.
I don't think the reason the FGC is shrinking right now is because of this. It's more of an issue with the games getting old without a lot of new stuff right now. It's cyclical, though it might become structural next-gen. Your average pot monster, who is the core of the FGC, isn't really impacted by any of this, despite how shitty the whole thing is.
