What a terrible ending to Gu Family Book.

An obvious set up for a sequel (which is doubtful to even happen considering the pretty standard ratings this had relative to its cast), but one that wouldn't be necessary if the writers knew what they were doing. 24 episodes to set up a story that is essentially ended up with a "To be continued". No character growth, no loose ends tied up, nothing.

The whole point of the show was the book that can turn him into a human but nothing that's set up in the first 10 odd episodes ever comes to fruition. Can't believe writers of dramas struggle to tell a proper story in 24 hours worth of screenplay. I can understand dragging it out, but this just went nowhere.

If Heartless City disappoints me like this I'm going to be back to not watching kdramas again.

Whilst that has certainly raised their profile this year, speaking for myself I honestly enjoyed Expectation as a song. That's what hooked me. The MV was just icing. And I've become more interested in Girl's Day by listening to previous, less sexed up performances such as Nothing Lasts Forever and Don't Flirt.

These are exactly my thoughts. I truly enjoy their music and their repackage album is one of the best albums released this year (I know half of the songs are old, but they are still their songs, and quite good).
And yeah, I also know that saying one of the best anything this year is not saying much.

Maybe they are not the most talented group out there, but they are good enough IMO.

I searched Mr. Taxi on Youtube, and the Japanese version was the first few videos. Also when you search Day by Day, that insane T-Ara song pops up instead of the SNSD song. Youtube is trolling me.

Mr. Taxi Japanese ver. >>> Korean ver. And I find more offensive that Big Bang's Day by day is not first.

Girls Day is lucky they have Yura and Sojin to balance out the ugly that is Hyeri and Minah.

D:

I don't think any of them are fugly. Minah is cute, but her personality is waaaay overwhelming lol (after seeing her in early variety shows). But she does try very hard to put Girls Day out there. So I respect her happy-go-lucky attitude.

Hyeri...all I remember is her Tony An reveal from Sports Seoul. Was the even real? I didn't hear much after it was announced. Anyway, don't think she is ugly either.

Yes it was real, she's dating Tony Ahn, a fact which pretty much every article leading up to their comeback made sure to mention lol.

If you want a good laugh, watch this video of a bunch of middle aged Korean men doing a dance cover of Crayon Pop's Bar Bar Bar:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=4zZ74jkChks

Another viral dance covers on the make?
probably not...

Female President grew a little more on me but it still tires my ears after a while, the song flaw is most of the time they appear to be screaming and music track is too high. It is ok to be like that in a few parts but most of the song is loud, it could be more softer.

I made a poll. If you could take some time to have a go, I'd be very grateful.

It's rather monotonous I have to admit, but maybe someone else will do a poll that addresses all the other questions and topics that I haven't covered.

It's known as Haru Haru though and a search for that gives the appropriate results. Such a classic.

Yeah, I think is my favourite Big Bang song.

Wow, you put so much effort into it, nice. I don't think anyone is going to even try after that. Last question made me LOL quite hard.

Hello GAF.

Yesterday we had a brazilian party (Festa Junina) in a place where a korean guy teaches capoeira and all sorts of brazilian music.

There I met the freaking Miss Korea. Search google for "Catharina Miss Coréia" or "Catharina Choi Nunes". The pictures are not that great, but in person, she's perfect, damn.

Yesterday was a weird, interesting, exciting, sad and depressing day for a lot of reasons that I don't wanna talk about lol. But I will say one thing: There is this club called ELLUI in Gangnam area and HOLY FUCKING SHIT. Beautiful women. Much more beautiful than those we see in K POP. If you go there, you'll see truly korean beauty. For each 10 women you see 1 man, it's crazy! Lots and lots and lots of women... unaccompanied.

But I need to speak Korean. No way you gonna pick somebody up by saying only english.... -__-

I must have been going to a different Ellui cause I've never been to a club in Korea with a ratio like that ;)

Too many Apgujeong girls in Gangnam clubs, and crazy priced drinks, but Ellui was always a favourite in that area.

Maybe was the day and time? I was there around 2AM Saturday.

How do you type that in Korean and what does it mean? 압구정?

Apgujeong's a ward in Gangnam, it's the place with the most plastic surgery clinics and lots of designer/luxury shops. Yeah, it's 압구정.

This is why I usually wait till they are finished airing before I watch them so I know if the ending is good or not.

I stupidly started watching Gu Family Book before it ended though, but I'm gonna finish it cause Suzy.

It was bit of a disaster of a series. But i believe it rated fairly well in its time slot actually.

But shit endings is a common thing in k-drama's that i'm getting used to.

Still got nothing on fashion king.

Below 20% on every episode, it peaked at just over 18%, but most episodes were between 10-15%. Not that great relative to its cast and hype.

I've watched probably up to 50 kdramas over the past decade and a bit and I'm still not going to get used to shit endings. Just because it's the norm doesn't mean it's okay, it's bad writing.

Again, i believe for that time slot, i believe that % is actually ok.

It's no innocent man or w/e though.

And i'm getting used to the really weak endings. /me shrug.

Lee Seung Gi and Suzy are both huge hitting names at the moment, in a 10pm time slot they could have easily been peaking at 25-30% ratings if the show quality was there to back it up.

They're huge names, but neither are good actors. The show was just a real action Anime. I'm not sure what you want.

I'd like to say acting matters in drawing ratings, but it really doesn't. The name is usually enough, but the show needs to be interesting enough to back it up.

Dunno man, what do you want? If you're satisfied with it, that's great. I did enjoy it to some extent, but all I'm saying is it under performed, is unlikely to get a sequel and the story went nowhere. The namesake of the whole series (The Family Book) wasn't even the point of the story past the initial 10 episodes.

I'm simply giving a critical opinion but what you're saying is essentially that it being a basically a live action anime excuses any quality issues.

On the bright side Heartless City is still pretty good after 10 episodes.

lol nice poll :p

Great one dude! some questions made me laugh hard, haha.

Good work, I already answered to the poll.

thanks for making this. Girl's Day and T-ara N4 put out good songs that I didn't hear til now.

:lol @ Wolf and last question

Cheers guys, and thanks to everyone else who's taken part!

Ah, I love filling out survey's first thing in the morning.

But, it's awesome so props man!

Also, too many Jungs... shoulda been Sica, Krystal, Nicole and maybe my Eunji lol.

TBH I'm surprised there are only seven Jungs in K-pop. I was expecting there to be quite a few more.

I wonder if anyone clicked "who" as much as me ahah.

Yup. Three others picked that option even more than you did. :p

Also enjoyed the variety appearances that they have made this year so far - so much so that I'm currently watching an old variety show of theirs - Kira Kira SLIM - which was from the Twinkle Twinkle era (subbed ep 24 was uploaded just a few hours ago)

Sweeet. I do love that show.

Girl's Day on their way to Busan.

I only found out yesterday that ex-Girl's Day member Jisun became a member of New.F.O., that group put together by allkpop's parent company 6Theory Media. I wonder what she's doing now...

The second part of that Weekly Idol special with Rainbow, Secret and 4Minute has been subbed.

And talking of 4Minute, they've been wakeboarding.
