Thanos acquires the fully powered Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers: Infinity War, but loses when all the superheroes team up together to stop him.
I want to try out Arcanist so badly.

Also, is it true that once you finish the main storyline content that you can raise the rest of your classes to level 15?

not in the final game
in beta phase 3
you can bump all the jobs to lv15 instantly after joining a GC
then bump lv26 classes to lv29 after finishing totorak

That's interesting. Really looking forward to Friday all of a sudden.

I just want to know how Squenix thinks they are going to balance Arcanist if they introduce the new class in the open beta which is unlikely to have huge changes before launch.

I'm gonna hold out for a cheaper version from GMG closer to release. I would like to play a week before the general public.

First I've heard of it. It's always been scheduled for launch from what I've seen.

Open beta is not long at all before launch, so I would still be sort of surprised if it didn't make it into Phase 4.

For whatever reason, my legacy character is stuck on a JP server (Ridill). Will I be able to switch before release? If not, no big deal. I'll start on Ultros on GAF and play with people who actually speak English for a change.

You have until July 15th to apply for a server transfer:

Okay,so,question. I haven't really kept up with the various servers and all of that.

Is there anything I should really, know, before everything goes open Beta?

Unfamiliar with Digital River. Can you explain? I was planning on preordering the CE when I get home.
They're the people who do the shipping for Square Enix (and other online stores like Namco Bandai). They have an awful history of failing to ship on time— or at all for that matter. I think I've ordered using them twice. Once for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 which arrived long after it was supposed to. The second for the Ni no Kuni CE which they failed to supply at all. If you want to see the extent of the fallout, skim the latter pages of this thread.

Basically, if you're planning on buying through DR, also plan on not playing day one and possibly not getting your game. It's as ridiculous as that.

Edit: A few choice quotes from that NNK DR thread:
Holy fuck.

Just got home to find a cancellation email in my inbox

are you fucking serious?

I placed an order literally within seconds of the deal going live.

Fuck this.
I think the worst thing about this is how long it took to say they were canceled. Would any of us have cared as much if they did this, say, on Friday? At least we'd know not to expect anything when the game came out.
Called Digital River, the robotic lady was just reading off of cue cards. She wouldn't explain anything and couldn't even pronounce Ni No Kuni.

This whole ordeal has left a bad taste in my mouth.
Just called them again today to make sure I would be told the same thing as last night (that I was getting it). Turns out the lady yesterday lied and I'm not getting it.

Can we get an online petition to shut these clowns down?

Yeah, it's why I'd rather just get the PS3 CE and HOPE I get PC access. Getting that then getting the PC version for cheap is preferable to dealing with Digital River.

The funny thing about this is that I'm a 1.0 customer. I get ARR free, as well as the CE digital goods anyway, but I was gonna go ahead and pick up the CE because I'm a sucker for swag and I want to play in the headstart with my friends.

Conflicted. I don't want any drama with my purchase.

Grabbed the digital copy of the CE, being sold on Amazon. It lacks the physical swag, but has the early access and all the in game items.

Also, the swag I'm most interested in, particularly the Soundtrack, I'm certain I can purchase later, individually.

Won't be on phase 4. It is for launch.

That's even worse! If people want to be Arcanist, they won't be able to even start until the launch then!

Are you coming to Ultros?

And I'm going to try the trick of ordering the CE and canceling it after I get the email. The worst thing that will happen is nothing, since as a 1.0 CE owner I'm already locked in for the items. I would only miss out on early access.

edit: Damn it, I didn't mean to double post this. Oh well.

Fixed double post.

The good thing is:

i can get all the Teleports, get all the classes skills, and left the story for arcanist.

I'm worried as well that Arcanist will be kind of a mess if it's not coming till launch; like, isn't the point of Phase 4 to test the entire game in a semi-launch environment? I mean, not just balance as Unknown Soldier said- there's no substitute for a thousand players fumbling around QA-wise.

What are you talking about? The game is not supposed to be released until the 27th (minus early start), just because the open beta progress will carry on to launch doesn't mean that we are entitled to anything before release date. Stop whinning.

I think Labyrinth of Bahamut and Crystal tower won't be on phase 4 either. Yoshida doesn't want people going through all the content before release.

You think I'm whining when I say that I think people should be testing and balancing Arcanist before launch? And that I'm whining when I say that people who might be starting new characters and want to be Arcanist either have to purposely wait until launch to start, or start with another job first and switch to Arcanist after the fact? Really? This is now considered whining?

I'm not going play Arcanist anyways, but it still seems stupid to me.

Why is this so worrying? Are the current classes in the Beta that terribly balanced? Do you think the players should be able to test future classes before they're released?

MMOrpgs introduce new classes after the launch all the time, i doubt Arcanist is going to make the game implode on itself, at worst it will be a little unbalanced.

We're talking about a class which is being promised to be in for launch though, not after. I think it's stupid that they are planning a class to be available at launch but not bothering to test it at all, but all the other classes included at launch are being tested.

Anyways, I'm obviously tilting at windmills here, so whatever. Have it your way guys.

What's there to test? I doubt it does anything system-wise that isn't covered by the Chocobo Companion and the other class' actions.

The current classes have had three phases to iron any kinks, and people are still kinda complaining about some of them. But I'm more talking about glitches and bugs- wasn't there something in 1.0 where you could get ridiculous XP from casting cure at full health? And that was after a beta! Not to mention there's been some server-specific glitches in the beta already that in-house QA is likely to miss.

And doesn't WoW and some other MMOs actually have 'beta servers'' they run to test new classes/patches? I'm not saying that would solve all glitches forever but testing launch content before it launches is kind of what betas are for.

Now, instead of either not giving me the game or delivering it way late, Digital River doesn't even WANT me pre-ordering the FFXIV CE when I'm very much willing to bite the bullet for those awesome physical goods!

I'm kind of confused to the Arcanist's role. They're summoners - what role does that play here? Can it go support or is it DPS? Crowd control?

We only just got access to three of the classes this month after five months of testing the other ones. Even though we know next to nothing about Arcanist, it doesn't seem to do anything that deviates too far from the other mages and pet systems in the Beta. That 1.0 thing sounds more like an overlooked quirk of a poorly thought out game from 3 years ago.

That's not true for half of the classes. Marauder, Thaumaturge and Pugilist have been introduced at the beginning of phase 3 and barring some complaints (there will always be complaints, especially in MMOs) they don't feel horribly balanced or buggy at all.

Well, this is SE. Probably worst case scenario is they make DRKs OP with Dread Spikes again and we need an emergency maintenance >.>; /nostalgia

Could've sworn they were in 2. Well, my bad then; I still feel like the Arcanist should have some testing, but feel slightly more hopeful.

Wow, the world transfer was much easier than I thought it would be.
Transferred my LNC30 to Sargatanas.
I think I've read about this before but can I change race and appearance of my legacy character once ARR launches (or even at the beginning of Phase 4)?
I'm currently Elvaan but would like to go male Miquote this time...

Has SE had public test servers in the past? All major class changes and additions do need to be tested by the public. That still doesn't prevent imbalances tho.

You can, though I'm not sure if they've confirmed it for Phase 4.

No, but the nature of an MMO is such that there is always, always, always stuff that the players in a live or semi-live environment will find that you, as a creator, never, ever will in a "sterile" internal testing environment, no matter how good your QA staff or how much time you spend testing. Leaving Arcanist to be "tested" on launch is a terrible, terrible idea. And if it's tested ahead of time, Yoshida's team can take feedback and make sure the class is as good as it can be for launch, which absolutely has to be completely stellar due to the hurdles this game already faces.

And of course other new classes should be tested ahead of time, that shouldn't even be a question. Feedback and testing on a test realm before releasing content to the live game is standard practice, especially core content like additional classes.

In XI, there would traditionally always be emergency maintenance shortly after any update went live, because they'd have broken something. It's not uncommon. But usually the worst case scenario is just that. A couple of hours extra maintenance while they fix whatever bug is found.

So........questions.

When the game was ending last year I decided to take that year to finish university and put this game on the back burner. I became a legacy sub and missed all opportunities of any of the betas this year. So does anyone know what I need to do to make sure I can still move over my 1.0 char or how I can upgrade to the LE edition of the game when it comes out or will all of that stuff happen at a later date?

Thank you in advance.
