Can't wait to hear everyone's impressions about this back in the west. Been enjoying my Japanese copy since May and its my favorite game so far this year. Hope everyone else loves it as much as I do.

I hate it when games require me to first complete them on normal difficulty before "allowing" me to play through them once more on hard. I remember SMT III making hard mode available from the beginning.

I'm more or less in the same boat as you, and I'm of the perspective that I know I'm going to play this game (Nocturne + Portable = so good) so I might as well get it now with the eShop credit and the preorder extras. It might have to wait a while, but its time will come.

There are few games special enough to get to this point for me, I should mention. SMT4 is going to be a hell of a ride.

Well, just pure speculation since we really don't know any details on this promotion aside from that leaked eShop banner. Also, contrary to popular belief, the Canada eShop is not 100% the same with the US eShop. I've been noticing some slight differences on pricing for some games, but not really noticeable or a big issue.

SMT 3 was kinda a weird case, in that it was an updated re-release in Japan, and most of the intended audience would have already beaten the game on normal so.... :p

I don't really mind too much. All reports say the game is hard as nails.

I'm looking forward to ripping SMTIV open and playing to the point I can see the ridiculously awesome amazon armour in the game then put it down for a year or two until I've gone through the other SMT games I need to catch up on before tackling it proper. Good times.

I won't spoil anything for y'all. Ill just say for me, it's a great game, and lived up to all the hype for me. While I suck at the difficulty of it, I'm getting through it well and just enjoying every moment. I just love everything about the game game, especially the characters.

I've never played a mainline SMT game, and I only became an Atlus fan last year when I played P3P and P4G. I didn't like EO4 at all, but there's just something about this SMTIV that tells me to buy it. I mean, for Atlus to release it here only 2 months after Japan signifies something.

I'll probably preorder again soon, in case the promo is announced later and Amazon becomes OOS.

Had this preordered for a while.
Gotta find a way to balance it between a bunch of other stuff but this will be my first actual SMT experience!
I've only played Demikids, Persona 3, and a bit of Soul hackers previously.

Very excited for this. I was a little put off by the initial $50 announcement but all the physical extras and that newegg discount a few months ago got me back on board.

I had NO problems getting through SJ until her final form, just.. ugh. I hated having to cheese out and get some demons off the internet, but that shit burned me good.

Hopefully, she's just a side boss this time.

The timing of the "cool" announcement really sucks. If they have a $30 credit for eshop only, it would be nice to give some room before release to cancel retail pre-orders and shit.

I was in your boat until I played Nocturne, now I love all of them. Honestly if you liked P3 and P4 then you'll love a mainline game. It's like talking all the straight-up battle mechanics of Persona and blasting them to an amazing degree of customization and experimentation, without losing accessibility. The game's difficulty is more about using your head and being ahead of the game.

What didn't you like about EO4?

Cancelled my pre order since I don't have time, funds, or that high of interest (never played a game in the series). I'll play it eventually (hopefully it becomes cheaper at some point).

I cant see Nintendo giving people 30 credit for registering two physical copies...but damn if they do, digital Luigi here I come.

EDIT: The book is a little smaller than I thought it would be, and same for the soundtrack track list (past CD releases have had much more if i'm not mistaken, looking at Nocturne, had like 33), but I cant wait for the limited edition.

I'm alot more open to using hint books than I used to be.

I have SMT4 preordered, but that preorder is getting cancelled if the eShop credit deal is digital only AND applies to digital copies of Fire Emblem purchased back in February. I'll take $30 over an artbook and soundtrack.
