Mr. Clash Tournaments. After recent events in the Nintendo community and talks with corporate... they are interested in knowing some of the people that help broadcast the smash scene. It's time that I introduce you to Nintendo.

Damn, Sanford is a better Sagat than this. Close stand strong is not a good anti air against Sakura. :(

God Sanford was fucking up so much. Broke my heart to watch and I don't even play Sagat.

Like the unconfirmed DPs and fireballs in Sakura's range ;_;

Wait, Chris G is still on the East Coast? Makes sense considering his talk with Slasher today I guess.

Maybe he won't go after all?

I missed it then, why do you think he might not compete in Marvel?
He's still not sure he wants to compete at all in the game. I think he will, but he's expressed this sentiment for a while but pretty much can't articulate why.

Basically he feels he has everything to lose and nothing to gain because of insignificant payouts and how after EVO nothing in the scene changes.

Ah so he's nervous

I think he is right...but it really shouldn't matter.

For better or worse, he has devoted a big chunk of his life to playing marvel now. He might have made a huge mistake, but it is a bit late for that now and he might as well just make the best of it that he can.

I hope for his sake he competes, plays his best and wins it if he is good enough on the day. He'll be a lot happier in the long run I think.

I don't understand the "everything to lose" sentiment. You're the best. You want to prove it definitively? You want to solidify it? You want to get sponsors to get more involved and pay more like what happened to FChamp when he won EVO under Complexity? Then go to EVO and show your the best. You've been so consistent that fans could chalk it up to a Chris G having a bad day if he gets blown up or does poorly intentionally. Don't say you want the scene to grow when EVO drives growth reciprocally with the rest community and not go to the biggest tournament with the biggest exposure to people outside the scene. This is on top of fighting games being what he eats off of, and the potential for him to go home without one of the biggest paychecks he could probably get. That's making the best of his situation.

This is the biggest EVO yet with possibly the biggest eyes on the community. It's a once-a-year surge for growth in the scene both in terms of money being brought into the scene, and new players entering the scene.

The pressure of being the favorite is getting to him. I mean it's not like he hasn't been to EVO before or he hasn't competed... he did that last year and got top 3. He is also tired of being the "heel", tired of people waiting for him to get blown up and tired of people not giving him credit because of his team. He feels like it's him against everyone else and if he wins, he will stagnate the game and cause people to quit. He sees EVO as a lose/lose situation for him... he loses people are going to blow up his loses and his loss videos will be posted up on Youtube with 10K+ views. He wins, people will call MorriDoomVergil cheap, quit the game and there will be less money for him when he goes to other tournaments because of less entrants.

The money is paltry to him as well as is the title of EVO champion. Especially when he is probably going to split the money. He's already sponsored as well.

The way I look at it, he may be an amazing marvel player, but really he is still just a kid in the bigger scheme of things.

He needs to figure it out in time, but the world doesn't stop for that. It'll be much easier to face later if he has an EVO title under his belt. He can still write it off as a big meaningless waste of time if he wants, but he also might just look back at it as something amazing that he did.

I'll be really disappointed if he doesn't compete in Marvel. I want to see him win; I think he deserves it. And if he doesn't compete, how will the ultimate winner feel? Will it be satisfying?
