No, good news was when impartial GAF users were spreading rumours of a possible downclock possibly down to 600MHz.OH GAWD. Twin consoles aren't even out and this "180 is holding our glorious PS4 multiplats back" stupidity already started.
It looks like every single piece of good news for the 180 is spun until it is no longer good news. They saw they could improve the speed, even if by a tiny margin, and it would still be cool enough to not melt the entire system and they did it. Good news!
Hey , I once paid 3000 dollars for a desktop pc with 75ghz...
:-OThe large chassis and megafan are paying off. I'll take that 5% improvement!
Only 45% to go before they catch up to the PS4! You can do it Xbone!
No she can't.
They had a strategy (always-online system, with DRM, no used-games, etc.)
But it was total shit and now they have to "duck-tape" their console a bit to fix a few things.
Will they have enough time for reliability tests though? Higher frequency (not only for GPU, but for memory also), higher power envelope. Basically, you need to go through all the tests again.
Unless they just now got the test results for various frequencies, compared that with yield figures and decided they can choose this one as an optimal point. Still rather late, but doable.
This small increase in speed, how would it effect frame rate if it does at all?
You sure know about specs, computing and technical stuff in general, for sure.
I'll take any speed or hardware bump I can get. But God at Game Informer for parroting DF's 7790 comparison. They keep regurgitating DF's crap, same with the ram split thing too. Completely illogical comparison.
Xbox One GPU. 1.23Tflops. (1.3 Tflops if this speed bump is true)
768 Shaders
48 Texture Units
16 Render Units
12 CU's
7790. 1.79Tflops.
896 Shaders
56 Texture Units
16 Render Units
14 CU's
A much closer comparison is to the 7770, which is 1.28Tflops.
And they probably were they just upgraded. This is some little thing nobody will be talking about soon enough. It means they were satisfied with what they had beforehand.
It's 1.32TF actually.
Well that is good for gamers and devs .
No, good news was when impartial GAF users were spreading rumours of a possible downclock possibly down to 600MHz.
What? :/
Its a boost in the processing power for graphics. Do you not understand what that means or something?
How are people turning this into a negative?
31fps games.
Finally some good news from MS. I'll take it! Every extra cycle they can squeeze out will come in handy, especially toward the end of next gen.
I hope they are. Let them eat the cost of returns if this results in another RROD situation, just as long as Xbone, PS4 and PC players have a higher baseline. ;-)I just hope MS isn't doing this out of desperation in order to try to make the multi-platform versions of games look better in comparison with the PS4. The issue with that is they could be pushing the chip beyond its safe operating limits, and we all know what happened previously with RROD on the 360.
I haven't looked at the links, but why would they need to do a formal announcement for a frequency increase? Those who were going to buy the console will do so regardless of the specs.
It will make no difference if you announce a minor bump in GPU frequency, all this will do is show the more savvy/tech minded consumer that you are playing catch up.
I know it just going be a firmware update via a patch it needed was doing a comment more inlined to the thread reactions.
It a negative for some people due to MS PR claiming they have no interest in graphics quickly bad pedalling again to do a upgrade.
I still think they really making shit up as go along since the DRM plan fell on its ass now they have no clue so just make it up as go along
It's too late to have the console's OS updated on day 1 to omit the drm, but not for this?
I must really not understand manufacturing or something.
So,
Instead of being 33 % less capable, the XBO GPU is now 29 % less capable,
Instead of being 50 % more capable, the PS4 GPU is now 41 % more capable?
So the Xbox One is going to be even more powerful and have more available ram than the ps4.
Not looking good for sony at all.
It's 1.32TF actually.
In the amount of time it took to type this you could have read the link and saved yourself the time.
From what I just read, it doesn't sound like that at all. Some of you people have no clue how these type of projects work. Every large scale project under the sun has setbacks and surprises, some pleasant and some unpleasant. Often times there are alot of unknowns. Why does it feel like they're still trying to cobble this thing together?
Lol
It's still an underwhelming machine for the asking price.
So the Xbox One is going to be even more powerful and have more available ram than the ps4.
